Honestly, though, the one good thing about public school—and whether or not it outweighs the negatives is a personal call—is that it introduces you to people.

The most important stuff I learned in school, I didn’t learn in class. You learn how to talk to people, and how not to. You learn who’s cool, who to avoid, how to get out of a fight you don’t need to be in, how to win a fight you can’t get out of.

You learn who you can trust and who your friends are. Not an experience I got during my years with the nuns.

Sorry about how I phrase this.....but, back in the day, there were more than enough people right in ones own neighborhood to socialize with. All the kids were outside, not in-front of the tv or game box. You even got to know the parents a lot.

What you say makes sense in this stilted society, but, what we have now is a recipe for malaise and no amount of “school socialization” can cure that.
