More on Nichenergy Uncategorized by Frank (admin) We have recently learned of another company that has been established to commercialize technology based on a nickel-hydrogen reaction, Nichenergy. This company is founded by Francesco Piantelli and some of his associates and appears to be gearing up to compete with Andrea Rossi’s E-Cat technology. A thread was recently started at the Italian site Energetic Ambiente by Roy Virgilio who attended the July 23 meeting about cold fusion in Viareggio in which he reports on the plans and progress of Nichenergy. He begins his thread with a status report about Nichenergy. I am including here a translation by Arika Shirakawa (much better that Google’s) of Virgilio’s post which was posted on the Vortex-l discussion forum. - Recently, old cells that worked continuously for months have been turned on again. After some maintenance, they turned on easily and quickly with some excess energy and the old "fuel", but they haven't been "pushed" yet to high excess energy levels.

- New cells with the new fuel haven't been completed yet (estimated 2 months left).- Project development is going well and accelerating in progress. There are proposals of a joint work with a big USA firm that had the opportunity of staying at Piantelli's laboratories for 3 days. Agreements with important industrial firms to develop generators of various power levels are also being made.

- Development will be performed in increasing power steps. The first new cell to be turned on will be of a few hundreds of watts in power. Once extensively tested and pushed, after everything will be under control and with clear, safe and controllable behavior, higher power levels (in the orders of kW) will be attempted, and then, when again everything will be clarified, greater ones will be. - On a theoretical perspective (Piantelli has a mathematical theory which doesn't require exotic reactions, but that can be explained by current physical laws and mathematics) protons of 6-7 Mev energy have been confirmed (in a cloud chamber), which allow for good likelihood of interaction with nickel particles; a semi-complete theory is about to be published as an internal document in the University of Siena. The complete theory will be probably disclosed after the initial devices will be commercially sold. - NichEnergy S.R.L is a startup company of Piantelli and his investors, from which other ones will be created and will offer the chance to makeagreements for further developments and commercial opportunities. - [NichEnergy S.R.L.??] will be a publicly held company and in 2-4 months it will be possible for everybody to buy shares to support the development of this technology and control it (therefore preventing it from disappearing for random reasons). - Old cells had a 2x-4x energy gain, but self-sustaining periods made the total balance actually higher. One of Piantelli's aims for new cells will be self-sustaining stability. More precise and accurate info on energy excess will be disclosed at a later time. - Piantelli doesn't use catalysts, at least in the term's literal meaning. His technology is based mainly on nickel preparation, i.e. powder geometry/size and deposition size (in a multilayered manner). It isn't known yet if the nickel he uses is doped/enriched.

It appears then that we might have a company working somewhat along parallel lines as Rossi. Both companies are basing their technology on the same reaction, but using different means to maximize the power output of that reaction. Rossi has apparently found a catalyst that boosts the reaction significantly, but it also sounds like Nichenergy is finding ways to enhance the reaction through nickel preparation techniques. It will be fascinating to watch the progress of both camps, and hopefully the world will benefit from competition between them. If this reaction is widely accepted as being a valid source of enery we will no doubt see many other players coming on the scene and progress in this field could develop rapidly. http://www.mail-archive.com/vortex-l%40eskimo.com/msg49583.html

Roy Virgilio releases more details on Piantelli’s research
July 25, 2011
tags: francesco piantelli, nichenergyby Ivy MattIn the wake of Saturday’s cold fusion conference in Viareggio, Italy, Roy Virgilio has released more details on the Piantelli group’s research on the Italian renewable energy forum EnergeticAmbiente. Virgilio is an administrator on the forum with the username eroyka. Akira Shirakawa has provided an English translation on the Vortex mailing list here and here. To summarize:

Experiments are being performed in a lab near Siena, Italy.
Older units worked continuously for months and produced 2× to 4× energy gain, but the actual energy balance was higher, as the cells reached self-sustaining mode.
Several unnamed third parties have confirmed that the older units worked in self-sustaining mode for long periods of time.
Several of these older units were recently reactivated. After some maintenance they turned on easily and produced 2× to 3× energy gain, but they haven’t yet been pushed to high excess energy levels.
New units with new fuel should be completed in about two months, and are expected to produce 200× energy gain.
The new units will be tested gradually in several steps of increasing power, beginning from a few hundred watts up to high levels of power on the order of kilowatts.
The scale-up will take as long as is necessary. Smaller devices will be ready for sale first.
No catalyst is necessary. The trick is in the preparation of the nickel.
Piantelli has a theory that doesn’t require exotic reactions, but can be explained using known physics and mathematics. A semi-complete theory has been provided to the University of Siena and will be published shortly. The complete theory will probably be disclosed after the first commercial units have been sold.
No Italian public institutions are involved in the current research, but a US government agency that has had the opportunity to review the research will probably validate and certify the reactor, as well as contribute to its development.
Piantelli’s group is also in talks with several large industrial corporations to develop generators operating at certain power levels.
The research is protected by three pending patents, the latest of which was filed last week.
Piantelli’s group will create a supporters’ trust. In two to four months the public will be able to buy shares in the trust to support the research, to prevent the technology from suddenly disappearing, and to share in any future revenues. Piantelli’s group doesn’t need money: the aim is protect the technology by putting it under the control of a multitude of stakeholders and enthusiasts, but there is no guarantee the shares will make a profit. [Emphasis added. —Ivy Matt]
Thanks, Akira!

The three patents mentioned above probably do not include Piantelli’s 1995 patent application. The Piantelli group filed an Italian patent application, “Method for Producing Energy and Apparatus Therefor”, on November 24, 2008, which was published on May 25, 2010. More recently, on April 26, 2011 they filed an Italian patent application, “Method and Apparatus for Generating Energy through Nuclear Reactions of Hydrogen Adsorbed by Orbital Capture to a Metal Crystalline Nanostructure”, which is due to be published on October 27, 2012. And then last week they filed a third patent application, the title of which is not yet known, and which should be published in January of 2013.

It looks like 2011 will be the year cold fusion attempts to make it on the commercial stage, and with at least two competitors. Piantelli’s group appears to be starting off at a disadvantage to Rossi and Defkalion, as Defkalion claims to have already achieved a 6× to 30× energy gain. (See Section 3: “Product Status” in the white paper.) However, Piantelli professes to have a comprehensive theory of the hydrogen-nickel reaction, which may speed up his group’s research. Cold fusion is not exactly suffering from a lack of explanatory hypotheses, but if Piantelli’s hypothesis fits well with the available evidence and, more importantly, if it makes predictions that can be tested experimentally, it will be worthy of the notice even of detractors of cold fusion research.

I don’t know what nichenergy is but I know damn well it’s racist.

Competition is where the world benefits. It’s impossible to keep these mad scientists strapped down. Cheer them to a free for all.

Good catch!

I've spent some time lately asking myself if it is still plausible that the E-cat is a scam. The analysis is too long to post (and probably unreadable for most), but I thought I'd share my conclusion here, if anyone is interested:

The Scam Hypothesis: CONCLUSION (as of 7/28)

The E-cat could be a fraud, but this conclusion is tenuous. It involves the power output being greatly exaggerated, based on a hidden power source within the device, with all knowledgeable personnel involved with the production, operation and monitoring of the E-cat being part of the scam. Anyone at Defkalion ostensibly involved in R&D development and testing of the E-cat would also have to know it is a scam.

Many of the public claims regarding the E-cat (such as the 2 years operation of one at Rossi's plant in Italy, the claim of 94 E-cats operating already, and the claim of E-cats being provided to the Greek authorities and Universities of Uppsala and Bologna) must all be quite false, despite no one claiming publicly to know anything to the contrary.

The scammers have not only developed a very clever and robust E-cat scam device and made multiple copies of it, they have also fooled a number of close associates who in some cases have worked on LENR or associated with Rossi for years. Rossi, if he is a scammer, is scamming his friends and associates first and foremost. Each one of these friends and associates - including Drs. Piantelli, Focardi, Stremmenos, the rest of the Defkalion board, the Ampenergo board, and the employees of AmpEnergo and Defkalion generally, must ALL have failed to sufficiently investigate the E-cat not just before getting involved, but since then as well. Not one of them have voiced anything less than full support for the E-cat.

Moreover, Piantelli's announcement of a competing company would require that he is leading a sort of piggy-back fraud of his own, to capitalize on Rossi before the primary scheme collapses. But with Rossi and company doggedly sticking to their scheduled 1 mW reactor operation in the last week of October, time is running out.

Of course it’s racist. That’s why I gave up my Alchemy Company that transmutated based metals into gold because I couldn’t live with myself over the racial implications of myself doing well when others aren’t.
