Everything I Learned About Politics I Learned Waiting For the School Bus.

Some of you side with the establishment Republicans, “Let's compromise with the Democrats regarding raising the debt ceiling. Then, the media can not blame us for causing a government shutdown”.

I side with the Tea Party, “Why surrender to Obama, Reed and company? The media is going to portray us as mean-spirited heartless Republicans no matter what we do. So, let's stand on principle and do what is best for America”.

I think back to seventh grade, waiting for our school bus; Butterball and Zaggy. Butterball was a big kid and very gentle. Zaggy was smaller, but very mean and aggressive; a bully. Zaggy would slap Butterball in the face and punch him almost every morning. Zaggy's mood would determine how severe a beating Butterball would endure.

Butterball would only attempt to block punches and beg to be left alone. I was a little kid. And yet, I thought, “Butterball, you are getting beat up ANYWAY, so why not hit Zaggy back”.

I am witnessing the same scenario; the left vs the Republicans. The left (democrats and their media) is going to trash the Republicans whether they compromise or not. I say to the Republicans, “You're getting beat up ANYWAY, so why not stand up for fiscal responsibility and Conservatism?”

Forgive me for using this cliché, but it is appropriate. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. The democrats and their media loath Republicans and Conservatism.

Speaker Boehner, why keep crafting budget plans hoping Republicans will be given a fair shake in the media and awarded kudos for compromise? YOU WILL NOT! Whatever Republicans do will be spun negatively. Pure and simple. End of subject.

Rather than continually staying on defense, the Republicans should stay on offense. Republicans should stand toe to toe with the democrats and their media, hitting them back! What on earth do they have to lose?

I am also weary of hearing Obama, the democrats and their media are unbeatable in the battle for public opinion. If the Democrat's and media's influence over what the public believes is so powerful, why was Obama and company so severely beaten last November?

I do not know what snapped in Butterball's brain, but one morning when Zaggy slapped him, Butterball unloaded on him. Zaggy cried. All of us kids laughed and cheered for Butterball.

Just as Butterball discovered he was more powerful than Zaggy, I submit the Republicans with the backing of We The People (Tea Party) are more powerful than the left. Republicans, for crying out loud, please stop your ridiculous wimpified pandering to these scoundrels on the left. You're not alone. The Tea Party has your back.

It truly sticks in my craw seeing characterless self serving scoundrels dictating the rules of engagement and getting their way. It goes against everything I believe. Right is more powerful than wrong and is suppose to win!

Butterball later made the U.S. Olympic wrestling team.

Yuo.

Plagiarizing me from earlier:

“...the ‘play along’ MO is not new!

Where and when it has been adopted (it seems Liberals exact this perennially…it’s like a STANDING Liberal requirement) it has cost Conservative taxpayers more money AND diminished the Conservative position.

...Liberals have NO concept of how this rankles with Conservatives… and NOT just with Tea Party types. Conservatives have reached the saturation point with the kind of Liberal tyranny we are AGAIN being ‘invited’ to accommodate.

I realize that force of circumstance is everything here… but hasn’t this ALWAYS been their justification when politicians ask for further and more compromising complicity in policies and programs which are totally inconsistent with Conservative beliefs? NOW, we feel like it is finally asking TOO MUCH!!

Conservative complicity in this buys us a seat on the bus… yet we are always threatened with being tossed off the bus because we haggle over the surrender of ever more principle for the sake of political expediency.”

Our Founders were not looking to win a popularity contest. They understood freedom and they were willing to fight for it. We should honor them and do the same.

Boehner seems intent on taking home the Minority Leader Bob Michel Lifetime Servility Award.

There is a great line in the musical “1776” where one of the delegates is concerned that the tone of the Declaration of Independence will offend some members of Parliament. The play has John Adams replying “Good God, man. We are declaring a REVOLUTION. We are bound to offend someone!”

My reply to the Leftists: Permission granted to be offended.

Thanks for the article. West is right. I hope he inspires those Republicans elected through the vote of the T.E.A. Party citizens to do just that.

Because the GOP Establishment despises fiscal responsibility and Conservatism as much as their Democrat pals do. The only difference between Democrats and Republicans is that the Democrats will look you in the eye as they cut your throat and Republicans will stab you in the back as they claim to be your friend.

I’ve always likened the Republicans to the All-American good guy in professional wrestling. Posing for the screaming throngs of supporters, not realizing that they aren’t cheering for him as much as they are trying to alert him to the evil villain sneaking up from behind with a folding chair...

“Everything I Learned About Politics I Learned Waiting For the School Bus.”

In grade school I had a stray mutt that became the family dog. Rain or shine it walked me to the bus stop every morning and was waiting for me on the return every afternoon.

What I’ve learned from that is a faithful dog is a better friend than 99% of humans.

AMEN!!! We are the majority. Democrats have to cheat to win because if they didn't, THEY'D LOSE.

The MSM and popular culture overstates the liberal viewpoint and underrepresents the conservative one. Establishment Republicans have fallen for the MSM/pop culture illusion -- like Butterball underestimated his own power, establishment Republicans underestimate the strength of conservatism in the U.S. They operate from a place of fear. They are always on defense; they let the left set the terms and then "negotiate" on behalf of the right.

When conservatives finally figure out that they are the MAJORITY, they will start operating from a place of confidence. They will go on offense and set the terms.

Liberals have to cheat to win because there are too few of them to win in a fair fight. The MSM and pop culture are accessories in that they create the illusion of popular support, but that support is all pretend.

Lloyd, EXELLENT POST!
