Years ago I was in a bar in Mexico when some soldiers entered and blocked all of the exits. Some officers went to everyone individually and asked to see identification and compared the id against a long list of names on a piece of paper. Nobody got taken out, but it was kind of, well, creepy. I guess this makes the process so much more efficient.

Doesn’t work very well if folks are looking down. And in urban areas, it’s hard to get sharply oblique angles.
The tags on that picture don’t look right. About the only one that looked correct was waldo.
