NEW YORK The ceremony at the World Trade Center site marking the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks will be a solemn but stately event ...
President Barack Obama and Bloomberg will be joined by the leaders in charge during the 2001 attacks, including former President George W. Bush, former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former New York Gov. George Pataki. Current New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will also be there, he said.

Yet, notice how the story puts Bloomberg and Ubama in the foreground, then adds in President Bush and America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, as guests...historic artifacts as it were. I am kind of dreading the anniversary.
I guess it it’s not political Sarah Palin, in fact
ALL the primary candidates could attend, just paying
their respects ya know.
Sarah should just show up in the crowd,
state, “ I’m just here as an American citizen
mourning our loss and showing respect to
those other Americans who lost their life
in this vile attack.”
>> “This cannot be political,” says Bloomberg.
What we do without the guiding principles of Mayor Bloomberg? /s
It sounds as though Bloomers is worried about his ‘RAT comrades who have sided with the Islamoterrorists against America.
Bush will be seated in such a manner as to get shots of him applauding Obama’s comments from behind him.
Look for those to re-air in the Octobet/November 2012 time frame in campaign Spots.
“Fearless leader universally respected...”
Bloomberg doesn’t want stuff to be political, yet he publicly performed a fake marriage for two homosexual men on his staff.
But he isn’t political.
Both sides of the 9/11 debacle will be represented, I guess.
One man has class, the other is an ass.
He does seem to pontificate an awful lot.
They will ruin the anniversary anyway. It’s very sad.
Maybe bloomberg and Barak will get a real bad flu...
Under him we did not tire; we did not falter; we did not fail.
Ya mean they're gonna have rag-heads there too??
Tell me about it, I was literally 15 blocks away, right below Canal street when those towers fell, and people were red-faced-enraged screaming to rebuild the towers, you can even see that in some videos of that day.
Instead, what we got is a giant silver Al-Qaeda trophy which you can bet is exactly how Al-Qaeda and every other America hating scum will forever see it. I get sick to my stomach everyday I drive past it. Like Trump said: “If the Statue of Liberty was destroyed you don’t build the Eiffel tower in it’s place”
6 years it took to build those TWO towers. If it was started even as late as 2005 it would have been done already which would have been a TRUE tribute to the victims and the resilience of the American spirit.
Instead what we got is disgusting pushes by this Mayor and other liberati to build a Mosque of all things, and shove to the side the heroes and true leaders of that day who remained steadfast and strong. You think we’d be looking at a giant silver Islamic trophy and talking about Mosques if Giuliani was Mayor? Hellllll - no. This is the guy who kicked Arafats arse out of the city.
And look what they did to Benard Kerik. Compare his story to Charles Rangel.
I haven’t been below Canal St. since that morning. I was giving serious consideration to going back and attending the 10th Anniversary Memorial.
For some reason I never gave a thought to Zer0 appearing at the service.
I think I’ll stay home here in WV.
“O” needs to be uninvited. This is OUR anniversary of a horrific tragedy, and has nothing to do with HIM.
Obama will be there to pay homage to the muzzie terrorists killed on the planes.
What ‘luck’ that BHO should be president at this time.
(Proud to say I was born in Manhattan; left with parents years ago).
‘”O” needs to be uninvited.’
If only - - -
Obama is finally practicing civility—he didn’t order Bush to stay away, the way the Democrats told Cheney not to attend the memorial for Sen. Wellstone (even though Cheney was President of the Senate).
‘_______we did not fail.’
Born, raised, fed and bred New York City boy - 57 years. Even lived in Manhattan for a time. Worked in and around those buildings for almost 20 years. Watched people I’m sure I was aquainted with jump.
The thought of Zer0 being there sickens me.
You just watch, there will be a faction in the crowd that will attempt to turn his presence into a party.
I totally agree with your sentiment. They should have been rebuilt, and even taller.
Obama is finally practicing civility
No, he’s not. He wouldn’t dare try to keep Bush away.
0bamaa is not civil in any way. He’s a wicked bastard.
A trip to Dallas....
A trip to Dallas....
And Obama is going on Haj.
I'm sure Obama would exclude Bush if he could--both because he hates Bush and because he wants to be the center of attention (and having a former President on hand will detract from that). I don't think there has been a case in US history before Obama of a President who so constantly attacked and insulted his predecessor. That reveals a lot about Obama's character.
Yep, 0bama is a narcissist and hater. That’s a bad combination.
Oh my - - - naw.
Maybe a sink-hole up to the armpits, on the golf course - - - stuck, and can’t make it to NYC on 9-11!
Obama will read about himself saying “I” 50 times, urge people to vote for him in 2012 because “he got Osama” single handedly, stress how we just need to talk to Al Queda, and have someone from the new Mosque praise allah.
Obama, Bloomberg, Schumer and Gillibrand should sit together on one side of the podium and Bush, Guilliani, Pataki and Christie on the other. Literally and figuratively, we know where the light weights will be!
Those lives snuffed out by terrorists mean something. Let the heartfelt and forthright speech givers speak.
SNIPPET from the article link in post no. 1:
"Speaking on his weekly radio show Friday on WOR-AM, Bloomberg said the lawmakers will read short poems or quotes. No speeches will be given."
As much as I would like for her to attend, as I believe that she would, she would have the unintential effect of moving much of the focus onto her rather than the occasion.
Because she has a “servant’s heart” she will not
attend for the reasons you state. Perhaps when
she is in office...
I’ve had my issues with Bush, but at least he was an American president, and he took more on the chin like a man than the current Oval Office occupant could dream of, not least of which was pointed fingers of responsibility for the September 11th attacks when even al Qaeda is clear that planning started in the Clinton administration. It’s more than regrettable that the people, vox populi, weren’t listened to about rebuilding the towers. We should have rebuilt them to the exact same appearance, but faster, better, and a few stories taller.
Welcome to New York again, President Bush. Thanks for your continuing leadership.
Absolutely not. We should never forget 9/11 and we should never forget the leaders who were strong at the time and in the aftermath. It is just too bad, tragic really, that America's Mayor Rudy Giuliani was trashed so badly on this forum 4 years ago that many of the best FReepers left, many to never return. National security for a strong America is the absolute top priority in my mind.
Having said that, I hear your outrage at the pitiful, insulting, so-called memorial to that horrific attack on our country and I agree it all amounts to an al Qaeda victory, especially since a U.S. president named Hussein will be using the 10th anniversary as yet another campaign event for himself.
I am hoping for the opposite... come on FDNY get it together... that a huge, solemn, tearful cheer will break out for President Bush.
Am I dreaming...??
I’m sorry but you have a blind spot.
Palin already tried this with an attempted upstage of Rolling Thunder this past Memorial Day.
She didn’t belong there except as a spectator.
The same goes for the 9/11 anniversary.
By the way, what is her anecdote about where she was and what she did on 9/11/01? I have never heard it.
I’m not hoping for it. But I won’t be a bit surprised if it happens.
I grew up and lived in NYC all my life, and let me tell you: Giuliani is the ONLY politician I’ve ever seen in my life who A. Does exactly what he says he’s going to do and B. Does not care who he ticks off or how it hurts his image or career to get it done.
I’m an old fart who has followed this guy from the early days from when he first got his law degree to when he went after the mob to when he became Mayor and the absolute BS he withstood is astounding.
One image that stands out in my mind is Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins going to a Rudy Giuliani protest in a limo (yes, liberals actually had Rudy Giuliani protests) to protest Rudy taking bums off the street and throwing them in jail.
And what was the result? A year later homeless men where PRAISING Giuliani for breaking their cycle of addiction and destruction. Like most conservatives, Rudy understood that liberal methods to cure addiction DO NOT WORK. JAIL DOES. Ask David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash who is one liberal who admits were it not for jail he would be dead. Got a crack problem? Let’s have you live crack free for a year. Let’s not throw you in an overnight tank and back out on the street. THIS is what they were protesting about. Sarandon and Robbins wanted those crack addicts back on the street while they hid behind their doorman protected multi-million dollars buildings, meanwhile the disarmed middle class and poor have to withstand shootings, muggings and all around chaos.
Anyone that ticks off Al Sharpton and Susan Sarandon should be POTUS as far as I’m concerned. Yes he is divorced, but his ex-wife is a liberal head case and I don’t blame him in the least for divorcing her. She got all mad because he was upsetting her liberal elitist friends so she did all this stuff to embarrass him, even bad mouthing him in the press but NOT ONCE did he ever do the same and bad mouth her back. And let’s not forget: He was almost killed on 911. He insisted on going straight to ground zero and had building debris collapse on top of him, enough so he was trapped! What were Sarandon and Sharpton doing?
Now his chances for being POTUS are all but nill because these same liberal pukes railroaded his #2 guy Benard Kerik, one of the most decorated cops in the NYPD history. Why? Oh because he screwed up his taxes and had construction done by workers connected to the mob.
Hey maybe I should check and see if my landscaper has connections to the mob, or check out the background of my car mechanic. Give me a break.
And meanwhile habitual tax cheat, real estate thief, and tax money “importer” Charles Rangel is not only NOT jailed, he is re-elected!! Once again and is found out once again that people associated with him ripped off taxpayer money slotted for the poor to the tune of $200,000 bucks to go party in the Carribean (which was in the NY Post today) Hey who cares if some crippled 90 year old woman in Harlem is evicted and living out of garbage bags, Charlie and his buddies have to par-tay!
The double standard these liberal %$%#s are granted makes me sick to my guts.
Giuliani is human and doesn’t hide it, but when it comes to his job he takes care of business and he is a patriotic American to the bone. I just like the no-nonsense way of New Yorkers. I have heard from other New Yorkers who recall how he cleaned up the city when he was Mayor. That’s the kind of style we look for and need: getting things done, a leader!!
I knew, when Kerik got busted, that Rudy was toast. Of course, none of it came out until he recommended Kerik to be Bush43’s DHS director.....
You should read the story of Kerik, how this guy risked his life time and time again to get crack dealers off the street and how the libs totally destroyed his life all so they could destroy Rudy. 4 years in jail this guy is doing, meanwhile pukes like Jamie Gorelick who in my mind is just as responsible for 911 as the terrorists, who should be doing LIFE without parole, is walking around living the good life. Oh yes and not to mention that she fudged records, gave herself a $20 million dollar bonus and caused one of the worst financial crisis in US history. She is walking around free, but a guy who risked his life time and time again is doing time because he fudged a line in his tax return and hired “mob connected” construction workers who to this day have not been identified. Show me these “Mob connected construction workers”. Last time I checked, the only thing the mob does is shake people down, not do actual work. Oh yes, and his maid was an illegal. Yes all this is a million times more horrific than killing 3000 people and destroying the housing market.
Maybe zero will just get a real bad flu, in general. Always praying for divine intervention.
