Democrats doing what they do best-destroy jobs.

It's just another tax on the Republican base (like all the other taxes, because democrats don't work), so they're not the least bit worried about political repercussions.
The democrat base can't read, either. They don't need books. It's a win win for the slave masters.

Don’t forget, 80% of us want an increase in taxes.

And I am part of that 80%! I want to see the standard deduction greatly LOWERED, so more of that bottom 50% - who don't pay any income taxes - pay at least something, and feel a bit more pain when they demand more freebies.

If President Obama wants to tax the top 1% - who already carry the load for income taxes - and "spread the wealth around", then I want to tax the bottom 50% to "spread the pain around".

Tax increases? Fine - on the bottom 50% only. Eliminate the standard deduction, child deduction, mortgage deduction and lower tax rates accordingly. The "top 50%" will pay the same net income taxes, but the bottom 50% who pay nothing will now have to start contributing "their fair share" as well!

Disgusting RAT scumbag.

So.. you think Amazon’s going to take a loss? Hell, no. They’ll just raise prices to compensate for it... and we’ll all pay more. What do we get in return? Oh, yeah. The Government “lets” us buy something.

And it won’t stop there. X amount of people aren’t going to WANT to pay more, so the number of people working at Amazon shipping things to people will decrease. Fewer items will be sold, because people will be watching their pennies more carefully. That means all of the authors and musicians will make less, too.

But the all-powerful, ever-hungry GOVERNMENT will get MORE of our money and why should we have any problem with THAT?

These guys are absolutely desperate to keep the crumbling social welfare state intact.

Yep. Every election they HAVE to offer some type of new free handout to the democrat base, or the base won't bother getting out of bed to vote.
No vote buying power = no democrat party.

Starve the beast!!!!

If I drive up to Oregon and purchase something...no sales tax, but if I am a pure green wienie and let my fingers and keyboard go to Oregon...I get taxed? Why?

If it happens...should be a flat percent no matter what State is involved.

"The Democrats are driving out every business this country has. Amazon will move out of the US and more jobs will be lost."

Read the article behind the link. The Amazon folks said that they would be fine with such a federal law. Ebay retailers are against it. Amazon could easily handle compliance, but the smaller Internet retailers couldn't.

Democrats from Illinois and Michigan only think solutions to budget problems are dealt with by taxes. That’s how they’ve gotten their states out of fiscal disaster - oh wait, THEY HAVEN’T!!!!!

The simple truth: If you want more of something subsidize it; if you want less of something tax it.

The "something" here is sales.

On a similar note, I was encouraged to see that Boehner did not try to offer and the Tea Party Republicans did not request any kind of pet project in exchange for a vote. I think that is step one. No Cornhusker Kickbacks or whatever Landrieu got. Just vote.

Read the article behind the link. The Amazon folks said that they would be fine with such a federal law.

The price of books would just go up - along with energy costs, gas prices, food prices, health care costs, property taxes, ......

I guess the tax slaves will just have to find an additional part time job if they want to eat. After they're done supporting everyone elses pseudo family, there's very little left over for their own families.

Is this constitutional?

I know the issue of sales tax on internet sales has become a big issue. But what I wonder is, since sales taxes are levied and collected by STATES, not the FEDERAL government, does the FEDERAL government really have any jurisdiction on this issue in the first place????

>> Is this constitutional?

It stinks. Why is the fed involved with state taxation affairs? Smells like a backdoor to VAT.

Landrieu got the modern day “Louisiana Purchase”. In response to reports that she got $100 million for Louisiana in the Obamacare bill, she said it was inaccurate, because she really got $300 million. These people are shameless!

Landrieu was the Louisiana Purchase, while Ben Nelson of Nebraska got the Cornhusker Kickback.

Mention the word TAX bill and democrats line up a dozen deep to vote yes.

They don’t even care what the tax bill is all about.

They are happy to wait to read it after it passes.

Mention the word TAX bill and democrats line up a dozen deep to vote yes.

Then let's offer up a tax bill that taxes all those who do not pay taxes, you know the democrat base. That way Obama can have his tax increase and the rest of nation can have a reduced government. That's what I call a balanced approach!

That is long, long overdue.

Part of the problem is that the priveleged classes pay no income tax. So they are happy to clamor for more and more taxes - after all, that's where their freebies come from.

As Obama said "it's time for everyone to have some skin in the game".

End the earned income tax credit and put a minimum income tax in place on all income. When tax increases are proposed they should include increases from bottom to top - right across the board. That should end the push for higher taxes in no time at all.

If everyone pays some income tax they might not be so quick to call for tax increases and they will be more concerned about the utter stupidity of the politicians throwing our money away by the billions.

Not only does Congress not have the authority to collect taxation like this, they are (arguably, at least) affirmatively prohibited from doing so. Article 1, Section 9 states, in part:

No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

Of course, when has a little thing like the Constitution stopped Congress from doing whatever the h*ll they want?

Democrats have never missed an opportunity to try and raise as many different kinds of taxes as possible. Here they go again! What a bunch of jerks!
