Blast in China's Kashgar kills at least 3: reports

By Terril Yue Jones

BEIJING | Sun Jul 31, 2011 6:25am EDT

(Reuters) - An explosion rocked the far-west Chinese city of Kashgar Sunday, killing at least three people including a policeman in the latest in a series of attacks in the region this month, the state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

The explosion came about 16 hours after two other blasts were reported in Kashgar and eight people were killed in a knife attack in the city, in the restive Xinjiang region near Tajikistan.

A group of Uighur exiles from the region said martial law had been imposed in Kashgar and that at least 100 people had been arrested.

Xinjiang is strategically vital to China and Beijing has shown no sign of loosening its grip on the territory, which accounts for one-sixth of China's land mass, holds rich deposits of oil and gas and borders Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Central Asia.

Police apprehended two suspects after Sunday's blast, which also wounded three people, Xinhua said.

There were no other details immediately available and Xinjiang regional officials did not answer calls to land and mobile telephone lines.

About Saturday's attack,

7 Killed in China Knife Attack
Sunday, July 31st, 2011 at 5:30 am UTC

Chinese police say two knife-wielding men attacked a crowd in China's far northwestern Xinjiang border region Saturday night, killing at least six people and wounding 28 others.

Authorities say the attack began with two explosions in the Silk Road city of Kashgar. Two men then killed a truck driver at an intersection and hijacked his truck. They then drove the truck into a crowd, got out, and attacked pedestrians with knives, killing six of them.

Police said the crowd beat one attacker to death and captured the second.

Always interesting in Uigerland. China’s darkest dream is a modern military invasion out West to “free” the Uigers simultaneously combined with naval action along the seacoast.

Remember that MacArthur was relieved for planning an amphibious landing just a few miles from Tianjin after China came into the War on the side of North Korea. It would have worked like a champ.

Reports from China come in dribs and drabs about Chinese casualties in Kim il Sung’s War. Well north of a million dead, at an estimate.

Tiger, you have your links all pointing to the same url. Would like to read them, thanks.

The posted article has Reuters link, while the one in the ping reply has VOA link They are referring to different incidents, I think. The second article is rather sketchy, though. You may get more detailed report from here:

I think Jihadi terror cells now have foothold up there. Chicom always smeared as terrorists any Uighurs opposing their rule. Now it seems that they finally have real terrorists. Years of their hard work on stoking Jihadi flames against U.S. is now turning into a blowback. Hope they enjoy it.

The main difference, however, is that the the chicoms will kill them all instead if inviting them to build mosques in major cities with taxpayer support.

Perhaps it is time for militant Tibetans to begin attacks from the south and Mongolians from the north. It wouldn't be the first time in history that Mongolians and Tibetans conquered China unlike the phony history the ChiComs tell that they once conquered Tibet previous to Mao's invasion.

They can expect no help from the U.S. now though. We're whipped.

There are 10-20M Uighurs. Half are women.

If the ChiComs kill the men and disperse the women all through China to marry Chinese men, it will probably solve the Chinese woman shortage as well.
