There is NO debt deal yet. The House has not voted yet.

Its not over. There has NOT been a deal yet. There is only agreement between the "leaders" of the Senate and the "leaders" of the House. The House of Representatives has not voted on it yet. There are military cuts. Your children and grandchildren will be indebted forever. The Balanced Budget Amendment will be destroyed. Boehner will give equal decisions on this Bill to committee democRATs such as Pelosi.

There is still time to stop this monstrosity that will destroy America by calling your representative and telling them they will be PRIMARIED out of their job next election if they support raising the debt ceiling.

There will be no spending cuts. There will be tax hikes.

That is not a victory.

Thanks to the busy beavers at the Washington Post, you can pretend you are Timmy Taxes and decide who gets paid first.

All this budget talk and not a word about disposing of some gov’t property to the highest approved bidders. Meanwhile Peelosi and her husband are quite wealthy on their own, but don’t worry she and her staff will continue to be paid by us peons, don’t worry.

Obama seeks the PR high ground.

No one in the media will question Obama's assertion that a "deal" has been agreed upon. If it fails at this point, it will be easy to blame those unreasonable Teabagging extremists for reneging on their end of the "deal".

Actually voting on legislation is so last-century anyway, better to "deem" the legislation completed and hog all the credit in advance. If it doesn't actually happen, it's the other party's fault.

It can’t pass. Government spending increases at 8% per year, GDP is between 0% and 3% per year. NOT SUSTAINABLE!!!!

This really pisses me off!

Greece had no government owned assets. The US government probably has more than $150 trillion in government owned assets ~ ABOVE WATER and that, and maybe more in the national economic zones.

These pukes haven't even begun to talk about the assets ~ the closest they got was "we are not selling the Grand Canyon".

Two years from now on July 31, 2013, I predict the GDP to debt ratio will be at least 120%

I'm pretty sure Obama will have the entire amount obligated before the end of 2012...

He'll be back for more sometime in January, 2013.

Chances are good that he'll have us in a major war before then and if that happens, all bets are off.

You have to be realistic about the rules of the battle though. Honestly... how can we possibly win a sweeping victory NOW by just crossing our arms and saying "NO!"? Do you really think Socialist Bama and crew wouldn't lick their chops in the midst of a system collapse? Unless you're literally looking for blood (which, sadly, it seems like some on FR are), it seems to make more sense to play this out politically over time and to make steady progress. For Pete's sake, we've got Obama's base spitting nails at him - we've got the public turned against him - in the midst of this storm, the reality is that our prospects look pretty darn good going forward. If I was only looking to be on the winning side, I'd much rather be on our team going into '12 than on the other team!

A re-boot won’t cut it. We need a complete system restore.

WOW! That's a keeper! :)

Let's play a game. Let's get ALL the Republicans to go out and say how much they don't know if they can vote for a bill that is so much in favor of the DemocRat party and will not help the Republican party at all. Then don't vote 1/2 of the Republican votes. SUDDENLY, the Rats own the bill. Do the same thing in the Senate. Now they own the whole thing!! Wham!! They get blamed for the downgrade and we rob Obama the satisfaction and political advantage of blaming the Republicans.

Even better! Even better. Instead of not voting, vote present. Squeeze the Islamic Socialist until it kills his whole Ramadan holiday on Martha's vineyard.

“AND, I just heard on Fox News that the Bush Tax Cuts are allowed to expire at the end of 2012.”

The Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire, there are basically no real short-term cuts, phony cuts are spread over ten years (with the possibility of defense cuts hindering our national security in the middle of three wars), and a watered-down BBA.

And we still get downgraded.

Heckuva deal.

>> it makes sense to get the best deal possible, move on to the 2012 budget

Why?

So the (R)s can get a head start at flushing THAT one down the toilet too?

Faithful in little — faithful in much.

FAITHLESS IN LITTLE, SIMILARLY, FAITHLESS IN MUCH.

When will all you (R) cheerleaders get it? THERE WILL BE NO GOOD NEWS IN THE BUDGET FIGHT! Look at the firmly established track record of caving in to the ‘rat interests and figure it out!

This POS Bill will give the “1” his Reelection Victory . We The People have Won Nothing if this POS is passed ? I have serious doubts about the Election if the GOP sign off on this ?

Please tell me, exactly, what is this “steady progress” that this bill makes.

Is it the 2.7 trillion hike in the national debt?
Is it the expiration of the Bush tax cuts?
Is it the essentially zero same-year cuts?
Is it the ephemeral kick-the-can-down-the-road “future” cuts?
Is it the huge political gains Boner allowed Reid and Obongo?

What is this progress, FRiend? Spell it out; I don’t see it.

When you count the unfunded (140 Trillion) liabilities of SS, Medicare, and Gov’t pensions the the GDP to debt ratio is probably already somewhere around 400%. I don’t know what the actual number would come out to but it has to be huge. This has all just been rearranging the deck chairs once again.

As reported so far, this is not a deal. This is “fantasy governing.” One trillion in cuts over 10 years is a farce. The debt still increases.

I hope the tea party congressmen stick to their guns. Because this package is smoke and mirrors...and an insult.
