How the Tea Party Won the Deal (The media is setting conservatives up folks, DANGER)
Daily Beast via Yahoo News ^ | August 1st | Peter Beinart

While the details of the debt ceiling deal remain fuzzy, this much is clear: Barack Obama may be president, but the Tea Party is now running Washington. How did this happen? Simple; this is what American politics looks like when there’s no left-wing movement and no war.

Let’s start with the first point. Liberals are furious that President Obama agreed to massive spending cuts, and the promise of more, without any increase in revenues. They should be: Given how much the Bush tax cuts have contributed to the deficit (and how little they’ve spurred economic growth), it’s mind-boggling that they’ve apparently escaped this deficit-reduction deal unscathed.

But there’s a reason for that: since the economy collapsed in 2008, only one grassroots movement has emerged in response, and it’s been a movement of the right. Compare that with what happened during the Depression. In 1933, Franklin Roosevelt assumed the presidency and launched the hodgepodge of domestic programs that historians call the first New Deal. By 1935, however, he was looking warily over his left shoulder at Huey Long, whose “Share our Wealth” movement demanded that incomes be capped at $1 million and every family be guaranteed an income no less than one-third the national average.

No war? When the hell did that happen?!

Oh, he must mean "no war with a Republican in charge."

Bush warred for oil. Obama wars only for peace. Love bombs and bullets of groovy.

——————The media had influence over the power of the TEA party how?-—————

Over the tea party? None. We know the media is our enemy and don’t listen to them.

The media has influence over everybody else, including republicans to a degree.

That’s why I said in the headline, that we are being set up.

Because we’re being set up. It’s that simple.

Look at how many responses after post 1 which point out lies. Lies about the bush tax cuts, it’s a lie that the tea party is running the show(with boehner doing all this smoke filled room stuff), in addition to the things I mentioned.

The Washington, DC Party and their propagandists in the state media, and their hacks in the new media, even on FreeRepublic, are all spinning, ie lying, at warp speed today.

The democrats are planning on running against the Tea Party Boogeyman in 2012.

I like it.

The Tea Party is saying that $14 trillion is too much debt. Everybody else is arguing about how fast or slow we should add more debt.

If I had to pick a job, I'd want the job of selling the tea party message.

If you hate “third parties” so much, why are you working so hard to make the Republican Party into one?

Could you link to those two articles in this discussion thread please?

Being as the media is setting us up, we need to concentrate all of the lies together, to make the facts easier to come across.

This media is at war with us, we need to treat it that way. It would be unwise to underestimate them.

‘FOX headline says “Passage uncertain”.’

Pelosi is on the hook to get enough Dem votes for this to pass. Boehner told Obama up-front he could only get half his caucus to support it.

What makes these articles silly- no Tea Party members are going to vote for it.

this is what American politics looks like when there’s no left-wing movement and no war.

There hasn't been a legitimate 'left wing' movement in over thirty years. It's an illusion kept going by dem war room tactics - fake letters, paid protestors, victim groups on the take... paid trolls to work the internet... That's why liberals can't pull off large demonstrations - not enough money for rent-a-mobs on that scale.

This is BS. Freshmen Reps, just say Hell No. Don’t break down due to threats. Let the people know what’s going on with the huge military cuts (after Obama threatened them and put boots on the ground in Libya, Somalia, Yemen), other cuts starting in 2013 (never happen), but in ten years everything grows huge.

Fox had Joe Walsh on; He’s telling the real deal, Hemmer proceeds to quote the WSJ about how glorious it is (never mind Walsh read the bill and is on the floor), he tells him exactly why it sucks vs CCBalance, the financial guy agrees, then as Hemmer tells of the NYTs slamming Obama for being a tool of the right and getting nothing in this plan (a damned lie), he brings for a response on how democrats may vote and act... wait for it... Lynn fricking Sweet from Chicago. Hello? Did I miss something, is she in Congress?

What shills at Fox. Mind you I caught that while turning.

Gohmert said the ten trillion cuts don’t start till 2013. There is no enforcement mechanism. If the OMB is a buddy of the prez, won’t happen. Same crap that always happens, dummies falling for it again. Louie said if you want to get around the cuts, you call it emergency to get around caps, he mentioned the census, even though we knew it was coming (duh)>

People need to call and ask specifics on what it does and when, are the cuts guaranteed (NO), what stops him from spending and why non-essential personnel and all the crap committees, orgs, groups started by Obama since he got in weren’t chopped (don’t even ask about Obamacare and the bill, should’ve been a first cut).

They think we’re all sheep, this guy gave more to unions, ACORN, GE, etc. than he’s chopping the military, and that’s huge. In any other country, it would be inklings of a coup. No accountability anywhere, it’s time to impeach.

BTW, the bill opens the door to higher taxes.

Ask yourself, what DOES the bill do?

Right. Even though almost all of them already voted for "cut, cap and balance," which would have raised the debt ceiling by $2.4 TRILLION.

So, they'll ALL have their trillions to spend, they'll all have their political cover, just exactly like they've been working towards since the first day the Tea Party freshmen hit the Hill.

It does seem to have to potential to backfire on them. We'll see.

Remember there is a very large constituency feeding at the federal trough these days.

At last someone ‘gets it’!

This is a huge hardball-type political win by the Tea Party even though they only got a little bit of good done in the bill (and at least they got some good in it).

Bingo, Skeeter! Orwell saw this in the left when he wrote “1984”, there had to be Emmanuel Goldstein for things to work.

In the last election the dems ran against the Bush Monster, who was responsible for simply everything that was wrong (even though he wasn’t running).

This time it will be the TEA party that will be responsible for everything going south, and most dem campaigns will be based on that, plus Hope and Unspecified Radical Change.

How better to demonize the Tea Party, than to credit them with a victory?

That the ‘victory’ is debateable, delinquent, incomplete and bears no direct resemblance to actual Tea Party demands is beside the point, if you are an MSM ‘journalist’.

For them, it is enough to make this kind of a spurious association and the idiot Liberal viewers will take it for gospel.

I really don’t think you understood me. I was not saying this was a good thing.

Real Tea Party folks have been utterly betrayed, even by those who are called “Tea Party” politicians.

Here are 2 recent articles / op-eds from NY Times and WaPo, calling for 3rd parties in 2012. If you scratch the surface a little, you will see these advocates are squarely in the leftist-Democrat camp. They are clearly going after independents and so-called "angry" conservatives to split the vote in 2012.

This a link to NY Times

Note that "Americans Elect" already has their website and organization ready, without even having any names, faces, or ideology.

How did you miss Van Jones?
How did you miss SEIU beating up on Kenneth Gladney?
How did you miss Stephen Lerner’s proposed plan to create another banking crisis?
How did you miss the american progressives helping create a revolution in Egypt?
How did you miss all the work that’s gone into Agenda 21 over the past year?

*****HOW! Did you miss the election of Barack Obama?

How did you miss all of that? I’d bet others could come up with a dozen more things.

Just because they can’t pull off a big protest doesn’t mean there isn’t a left wing movement. There is one, and it’s highly successful.

I do agree with you about the essential rules of liberty. Every time Obama speaks, tyranny comes out of his mouth.
