GOP presser LIVE on FOX
FOX News | Aug 1, 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/01/2011 1:11:13 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The GOP "leadership" is united in lying to the public while they stab us in the back.

I must correct their lies. There is not a nickle in spending cuts in this bill.

It's absolutely idiotic to pile on more debt and continue spending when you're already so deeply in debt that you can never get out.

No deal would be better than this MARXIST POS!!

It's the spending, stupid!!

Tea Party Freshmen: HOLD THE LINE!!

It's really exciting you have a plan. I hate to be the one who bursts your balloon but you can't have any more of my money. So you're going to have to noodle some other plan, ass wipes.

It’s all a fraud, never once has it been suggested that the gov’t dispose of some of it’s property, selling it off to approved bider/buyers. But the taxpayers will still be stuck with the costs of keeping this property. Bet on it.

You have that right and I listened to the press conference and while it is good to have the blank check Democrat approach to spending slowed down there are very bad things in this bill which I find alarming. Specifically the creation of a ‘Super Congress’ which is EPA-like in the sense that whatever comes out of this ‘Super Congress’ can not be stopped without a 2/3rds vote. There are some features of this that are redeeming but the danger is in the question ‘How much do you trust them?”. I certainly don’t.

We didn’t lose in the sense that Washington is still just rubber stamping the debt ceiling but this is much like having your opponent bloodied and then calling a time out to let him recover. Also the credit rating downgrade they keep talking about is a certainity. Its going to happen. This bill is not going to slow that train down one bit. Now I’m not certain that a credit downgrade is a bad thing in the long run because it will make it harder to justify extending debt limits however you can be certain that when it does happen you will have this phrase repeated over and over in the media and campaigns “The Republicans took us to the brink and we are sufferring a credit downgrade because of it”. Will that stick I’m not sure.

That Democrats are not getting new tax increases is not a loss to them. They did lose the debate however the GOP in this deal is pulling its punches in hopes of running out the clock to 2012 and that strategy is a strategy to lose.
We basically have a ‘deal’ that doesn’t really cut the scope of spending and puts a lot of faith in a dangerous ‘super congress’ that will be split evenly between Democrats and GOP. We should know before any vote goes forward who the Republicans are going to be on this ‘Super Congress’ because I just don’t trust the idea and it would take a 2/3rds majority vote to override.

The irony of this is that the scope of debt ceiling increase is bigger than TARP. The first increase will be over 900 billion! This is NEW spending.

IMHO. nothing will happen until we fall flat on our faces. I live on my measley retirement check and a SS check. The ex gets most of everything. I would give it all up and live on the streets if it would help us get back to the basics of what government is supposed to do. Live within your means. How hard is that to understand????

I really haven’t heard of a single program that’s being cut

Just saying that you are not going to increase spending with an imaginary baseline is not a cut.....If I say say I gained 25 pounds this year instead of 100 doesn't mean I lost 75......

Good idea. I'll do the same. And I'm going to let every Republican who votes for this monstrosity that they will no longer receive any donations from me.

I will donate only to those Tea Party Republicans who voted NO. All others can pund sand.

I di believe that the GOP as a party needs to have their budget cut BIG TIME.

They have stopped listening....once they reached Masterhood over you, they only need your wallets to rape.

And in this case the victim’s name will be reported: The United States Of America. The perpertrators are those alleged 535 representatives of the people. They no more represent me than does Putin, in fact, I trust Putin more.

Just updated my message to all my reps with the following which I just sent them:

Senators Crapo and Ritsch, and Representative Labrador,

The "deal" with the dems is no deal.

Vote no.

It cedes the congressional responsibility on debt ceiling to the President unless a 2/3rds majority overrules it. I do not believe that is constitutional. it seems that most of the so-called "cuts" are coming from cutting the rate of future spending...which means they are not cuts at all. As to tax cuts, the Dems plan to allow the Bush tax cuts to end, thereby raising everyone's taxes.

I expect, per my letter of July 28th, my representatives to hold true to a common sense, obvious, sane economic line.

Do so, and live a balanced budget, or we the voters will find someone who will.

Do not borrow any more. The default scare tactics are a fallacy and a lie. We have more than enough revenue to cover it, to cover our military, sociail security and medicare. Start cutting from there to have us fall within the 200 billion we bring in.

Cut spending drastically to within our means and income.

Cap spending to a modest rate of GNP that would allow for a balanced budget in five years minimum in any case.

Pass the balanced budget amendment and send it to the states.

My vote hinges on these things...and the other things I always look to (fundamental moral principle, abiding the constitution according to the intent of those who wrote it, defense of this nation and its borders, defense of the unborn, and holding firm on the 2nd amendment)>

Sincerely,

Jeff Head

Compromise? John Adams said this about compromise.

I just called my representative from SC (Tim Scott) and was told he was LOOKING at the bill. I informed him that he had better find out how his constituents are feeling...FAST.

I also told his assistant that it’s all over the news what kind of POS this bill is and that how I vote in the 2012 election will rest SOLELY on this bill.

I’m seeing red right now.
