Supporters of Muammar Gaddafi participate in a demonstration in Tripoli, Libya, 28 July 2011.
War on Libya has not gone well. Kim Sengupta's report on Wednesday detailed this starkly:
"Fresh diplomatic efforts are under way to try to end Libya's bloody civil war, with the UN special envoy flying to Tripoli to hold talks after Britain followed France in accepting that Muammar Gaddafi cannot be bombed into exile.
The change of stance by the two most active countries in the international coalition is an acceptance of realities on the ground. Despite more than four months of sustained air strikes by Nato, the rebels have failed to secure any military advantage. Colonel Gaddafi has survived what observers perceive as attempts to eliminate him and, despite the defection of a number of senior commanders, there is no sign that he will be dethroned in a palace coup.
The regime controls around 20% more territory than it did in the immediate aftermath of the uprising on 17 February."
If the Gaddafi regime is now more in control of Libya, then this completely undermines the simplistic view put about by the supporters of war and by some elements of the resistance that the situation was simply one of a hated tyrant hanging on through mercenary violence. Of course, he uses whatever resources he has at his disposal, but a) it would seem that the involvement of imperialism has driven some Libyans back into the Gaddafi camp, as it's unlikely he would maintain control without some degree of support, and b) we know that rebellious sectors started to go back to Gaddafi within mere weeks of the revolt taking off, meaning in part that his resources of legitimising his regime were not exhausted even before the US-led intervention.

I have a feeling they are having a pretty grim Ramadan at the Obama household.
days, not weeks
Man, I wish I had the graphics contract.
Hey, any obamabots lurking here? obastard yourself?
Qaddafi has punked you. Made you into an international joke. You couldn’t even dent his support in a Third World sh!thole, and you are the “Commander in Chief” of the most powerful military the world has EVER seen.
Well done, you unqualified moron.
Seriously, have you ever studied even a page of military history, obastard? Are you really this incompetent? OK, I can understand you hating the US, but giving Libya a win doesn’t do much to us. It just makes you look as impotent and stupid as you are.
Well done, ya moron.
of course he is. what did anyone expect?

Gadhaffi is a complex character, but since 9/11 he has very clearly alligned Libya with US interests. It is Ghadaffis pre 9/11 conduct that Obama and his propaganda machine used to villify Ghadaffi, much in the same way that Obama villified Honsni Mubarak. Its a characteristic of Obamas foreign policy, one day we have an ally, and the next he is a dirty rotten bastard. This is so characteristic of national socialism in history, and this in fact is exactly what Obama is. His mis-adventures in Libya remind one of Mussolini in Ethiopia prior to WWII.
The general US public , among them Vanders 9, bought this grift lock, stock and barrel, thinking that Obama had a perfect presidential right to prosecute his own little private ideological war in Libya in support of the Muslim Brotherhood. This support is true of Obama in both Egypt and Libya.
Now seque to what has been done to Libya. Tripoli, just a few short months ago was a thriving sea port , with a plethora of new construction. It is now in ruins from air strikes by NATO and by US bombing. An entire nation has been economically and socially destroyed. There was NO need of it. But Gadhafi presented two factors which made Obama strike:
1) Gadhaffis sin is that he is an extremely wealthy man.Obama wanted his money, and he did get his hands on a great deal of it by freezing the tyrants assets in the USA and Europe. These funds will be released to Libyasprovisional government , when in fact Gadhaffi has not yet been deposed or defeated and according to International Law,Gadhaffi is still Head of State. The provisional government are essentially CIA selected Obama aparatchiks, and a sizeable proportion of these monies will line the Swiss coffers of Obama and his fellow political thugs, used for campaigns, and for creating more mayhem in Africa.Much of the rest willl go to arms dealers.
2) Gadhaffi is a bedouin, and the Bedou have always been adversaries of the militant Muslim Brotherhood who seek to conquer their tribal lands in the name of Islam. The Bedou and Gadhaffi will never surrender to the Provisional Government of Libya, even if Gadhaffi is killed, the fight will go on for as long as it takes for the Bedou to resecure their country.
The result is simply that Obama has lined his pockets indirectly, and the cost is the complete ruination of a whole country, and forwarded the cause of the Muslim Brotherhood by creating mayhem and disorder. The grift is that Obama convinced NATO to do a lot of his dirty work for him. Now both France and Britain have cottened to the truth of Obamas motivation, and they want out. Who can blame them?
Obama and Odinga did much the same thing in Kenya 2006/2007, advancing the cause of the Muslim Brotherhood by trying to talke over a good portion of the northern districts of Kenya for the Somali Muslim Council, an organ of the Muslim Brotherhood. The government of Kenya was villified and intertribal genocide in which 7000 people were killed was used to secure Odinga an official position in Kenyas government as Prime Minister. Now as so called president of the USA, Obama works with Odinga, while regarding the legitimate government of Kenya as colonial pawns.Much of the money Obama gets from Gadhaffi will go to Odinga to be used to destabilize Kenya further, and establish an invasion corridor down the coast from Kenya, while simultaneously the Muslim Brotherhood will use Libya as the gateway South into countries such as Nigeria, where they are already bombing state schools.
This is the Obama plan, and it is being prosecuted using American taxpayers money. The USAs involvement in Libya should be stopped dead in its tracks. We as a people have no national interest there, and to Gadhaffis credit, he is actually winning the war on the ground. I hope Gaddhaffi prevails, and lives to dance on the political grave of the traitor and usurper, Baraq Hussein Obama.

Brits—Franks—you are going to send your people down their to take this bum out. the USA had to send special forces to get UBL and it looks like your going to need to man up and blow him away. You got good people to do the job. That or detonate an a-bomb on Tripoli. If you fail—UK—France you will look like whimps in the eyes of the world.
Libyan rebels step up purge against Gaddafi loyalists
Opposition officials said that at least 63 members of a militia suspected of acting as a "fifth column" for the Libyan leader had been rounded up.
I smell desperation. The Brit leftys are trying to convince themselves to write Libya off by declaring the rebellion dead.
They’re afraid of the humiliation that will ensue if the rebels win without them.
Zer0 used the Libyan conflict to show he was not a woman but indeed
had a set.
I guess he never did intend to carry through the mission. The same can be said of his lack of leadership in the Gulf war and Afghanistan. The man-child is indeed a weakling.
Good one Gaddafi — keep killin’ the AlQ folks. alQ folks, keep killin’ Gaddy’s Moslems. Let the whole Moslem world get on fire...
He has five dollars more than me, bang, bang!!!!
Gadaffi is loaded. He has about 130 tons of gold and knows how to spend it. The Muslim Brotherhood wants that gold to fund an attack on Israel then an attack on mainland Europe. It seems like the Europeans that were ‘Oh so democratic’ last spring are wise to what is happening and don't want to get played by the MB anymore. Gadaffi stays and world democracy wins. Go figure that one out!
Alex Jones has been predicting a ground invasion set for Oct. He is right a lot of the time.
Well, it looks like Gaddafi had a bad day. One of his oil tankers was seized and delivered to Benghazi. I read that gas is in short supply in Tripoli. This won’t help.
In addition, in the Nafusa Mountains to the south of Tripoli progress continues to be made with one or two more towns to be taken to open the road north to Tripoli. This one has an interesting video, which unfortunately I cannot hear, lacking speakers.
Sparks started the fire from the bombs which fell, the fire consumed the land, the land started the famine, the famine started killing after the bombs fell, the killing started more sparks, (and then repeat as often as is necessary to created more fog and rumor). The fog and rumor said, We, the fog and rumor, are innocent.
Thanks for the update gleeaikin.
Wonder why the meddling US/NATO coalition is totalling the bloodshed in Syria.
The world news outlets won’t let the bloodshed go by un-noticed.
You have to look to find it though. The sit-rep in Syria is exactly as it was in Egypt and Libya except more violent. I guess the Arab spring doesn’t last into an Arab summer. As for me, I say we shouldn’t be involved anywhere there except Israel.
I did some more checking on the oil tanker. Apparently it was a Gaddafi owned vessel docked in Malta and was seized by the rebels and redocked in Benghazi. Sounds like a coup to me. Especially now that the Nafusa rebels have cut an important oil line to Tripoli.
