End Times? Texas Lake Turns Blood-Red
Live Science via Yahoo News ^ | 2 Aug 2011 | Stephanie Pappas

A Texas lake that turned blood-red this summer may not be a sign of the End Times, but probably is the end of a popular fishing and recreation spot.

A drought has left the OC Fisher Reservoir in San Angelo State Park in West Texas almost entirely dry. The water that is left is stagnant, full of dead fish — and a deep, opaque red.

The color has some apocalypse believers suggesting that OC Fisher is an early sign of the end of the world, but Texas Parks and Wildlife Inland Fisheries officials say the bloody look is the result of Chromatiaceae bacteria, which thrive in oxygen-deprived water.

Given a pre-trib rapture assumption,
there will be a time between when all the saved folks are yanked away, and when the first tribulation era Christian gets saved.
The “restrainer” will be gone for a period of time.

Plus, the chaos of all the missing people will indeed cause massive hardship for those left behind.

Maybe it just turned red for a geologic reason?

I’ve got a couple of stock tanks that will turn red like that in drought. They’re so nasty I fenced them so I can shut the gate when they do that. Plus on the flat land it just turns into mud and is dangerous. Thank goodness Dad built another pond down by the creek that’s spring fed. All I’ve got is two old milk cows who are basically pets now, a couple of horses and a spitting mean llama that stays with the few goats. lol

A bit of perspective:

The “lake” had been around several decades and was named for Clark Fisher, longtime congresscritter for that congressional district, who was a very conservative Democrat. But he of course still brought home the bacon.

The current drought has exacerbated a long term drought in that area. This lake - which back in the early 60’s had a lot of water in it from blessed rains - has been going dry for years.

To complicate matters, the lake is located where a Texas State Park and Natural Area is also located. It was created to feature the flora and fauna of the semi-arid land. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has been turning semi-arid into arid for quite some time.

I say “complicate matters” because part of the charm was to have been having this big lake set right in the middle of this semi-arid land, for interesting contrast in promoting visits to the state park, hiking, camping, picnicking and the rest.

Given a pre-trib rapture assumption, there will be a time between when all the saved folks are yanked away, and when the first tribulation era Christian gets saved.

I am not particularly fond of pre-trib... or at least the way most folks consider it - The Bible CLEARLY says that it is at the sound of the 7th trumpet that the rapture occurs. Nice to miss out on the bowls and vials, and all, but we should know to look for the trumpets (and the thunders) cuz we are gonna see that much at the least. And if one reads the results of those trumpet signs, one could dare to say that there is a bunch of 'the tribulation' going on there. And IF Christians are all taken up before then, who exactly are the martyrs who are prophesied?

The “restrainer” will be gone for a period of time.

2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way. (KJV)

Actually, I think you had better look at 2 Thess 2 more closely... And there is no passage which identifies the 'restrainer' as the Spirit. That is nothing but an ill conceived assumption.

As I asserted earlier, the Spirit is the primary force leading folks to salvation, and guidance thereafter - If there are to be tribulation saints, and saved survivors (which there ARE), it is inherent in the process that the Spirit is present.

If you think about it, the Rapture will probably be the TRIGGER for the Tribulation.

Can you imagine a world with the Holy Spirit’s influence suddenly GONE?

That is the common consensus amongst "accurate" end-times teachers and students. The Rapture of the Church will most likely be the catalyst for everything falling apart world wide.

I saw a story recently about a Texas lake that had drawn so shallow, the feral pigs were wading in and eating the nearly-beached fish.

“If the Detroit Lions win the Superbowl...”

I’m a Christian bible student who does NOT believe the ‘rapture’ doctrine, but if I’m wrong and the Packers are raptured on outta here, then Detroit has a shot at the division title... but no higher.

By the way, anyone could walk down the streets filming in Detroit and possibly convince rapture believers that the grand spiritual migration has begun....

...half the people gone, every other building abandoned, nothing there but death, disease and DemonCrats...

Left Behind... in Detroit... yikes!

Funny article about Back to the Future 2. The Cubs must have read it too. From the article: “The chances of the Cubs beating the Tampa Bay Rays is even lower, they don't have anyone who can match up against Longoria or Pena.” So, the Cubs proceeded to sign Pena to a big contract.

It’s a non-productive argument to try to “prove” your views to someone else with another eschatology.

However, it DOES have an effect on how you live.

If you’re a “things will get better and better until Christ comes” eschatologist, you’ll be sticking your kids in public school to “be salt and light”, exposing them to the corruption of the world to try to “uncorrupt” it.

If you’re a “as in the days of Noah” believer, you’ll “be ye separate” with your family to shelter and protect them from the ever increasing corruption.

Indeed - and apparently the much redder hue of the RED River has never provoked such concern.
