The Tea Party's War on America
The New York Times ^ | 8/2/2011 | Joe Nocera

Posted on 08/02/2011 9:09:40 AM PDT by ppaul

You know what they say: Never negotiate with terrorists. It only encourages them.

These last few months, much of the country has watched in horror as the Tea Party Republicans have waged jihad on the American people. Their intransigent demands for deep spending cuts, coupled with their almost gleeful willingness to destroy one of America’s most invaluable assets, its full faith and credit, were incredibly irresponsible. But they didn’t care. Their goal, they believed, was worth blowing up the country for, if that’s what it took.

Like ideologues everywhere, they scorned compromise. When John Boehner, the House speaker, tried to cut a deal with President Obama that included some modest revenue increases, they humiliated him. After this latest agreement was finally struck on Sunday night — amounting to a near-complete capitulation by Obama — Tea Party members went on Fox News to complain that it only called for $2.4 trillion in cuts, instead of $4 trillion. It was head-spinning.

All day Monday, the blogosphere and the talk shows mused about which party would come out ahead politically.

Honestly, who cares? What ought to matter is not how these spending cuts will affect our politicians, but how they’ll affect the country. And I’m not even talking about the terrible toll $2.4 trillion in cuts will take on the poor and the middle class.

Hey Bozo! How about the effect trillions of dollars worth of debt and more taxes will have on the poor and the middle class?

It's time to get on the phone and let the republican leadership know that we are tired of capitulation. This supercommittee idea is a bad one that will be made worse if they exclude Lee, Rubio and Sessions. We've made a difference and we'll have no one to blame if we let up now.

PLEASE URGE YOUR FRIENDS TO GET BUSY!

The NYT has the talking meme.

given the history of the NYT aiding the literal enemies of the USA, they have no way to know who fights for who.

cuts? what cuts?

the “cuts” are the equivalent to me saying I cut a million dollars out of my budget because I decided to buy a 200k house instead of a 1.2 million house.

Never mind. Just keep plugging ahead, Tea Partiers!

BTW, if these schmucks are so concerned about the poor, how about sending in some checks to government’s general fund to take up the slack?

Fools.

If one has principles as do us Tea Party folks it is tough dealing with folks that lack principles all together. Tea Party folks changed the debate forever and the “Libs” no likey dat.

It’s the TEA Party’s counter attack to the Statist-Collectivist-Socialist war on American Individualism.

They should at least characterize it the right way. We can only hope someone on our side will.

I guess they define “America” as the socialist left.

And yes, by that definition, we ARE at war with them.
It just hasn’t gotten physical, yet, because the political process hasn’t been shut down, yet.

To the NY Times— WOW they sound so like the editorial in that old Cold War era Life Magazine The Nature of the Enemy pp30-31 Feb.1950 Only there they called the terrorist “Soviet Communist” funny but what was published seven months before I was born was reflected in the training we were given at Ft.Campbell Ky. after I enlisted six months after Red Skelton broadcast his tribute to the Pledge of allegiance. (His TV program Jan. 14,1969) We trained to oppose the Soviet Communist and ALL enemy foreign or Domestic. Problem is while America was asleep— or “leaning against the wall” —or otherwise distracted Barry Soetoro aka Barak Hussein Obama II was selected President And his extreme plan to fundamentally change America has succeeded beyond the Communist Party USAs wildest expectations.

I guess all of that talk about civilized discourse was just that, talk. If you look at the NYT and other Democrat outlets today, you will see hate speech about the Tea Party that is so over the top as to be outright incendiary.

Thanks to the Tea Party (I am not a member, just a like-minded citizen) and to the freshman House members who understood why they were sent to Washington. We have dipped our toe in the water. It is now time to cut, cut, cut and get government back to being the servants of the American citizenry and not the tyrants they have become.

One Word for this POS article:

HYPROCRISY!!!

But they didn’t care. Their goal, they believed, was worth blowing up the country for, if that’s what it took.

And during the Healthcare Debate:

Pelosi - We’ll go through the gate. If the gate’s closed, we’ll go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in but we're going to get health care reform passed for the America people.

Two points here: A) Where the HELL was our leadership to speak like this during THIS debate? B) Many, many, many bad bills are shoved down OUR throats and papers such as the NYT just sit there and assist. IT IS SICKENING!!!

Like ideologues everywhere, they scorned compromise.

In any collaboration or compromise between two men (or two groups) who hold different basic principles, it is the more evil or irrational one who wins.

Obviously, Joe Nocera is a Marxist. He thinks that government is the source of wealth. And, he thinks that it's the Federal Governments responsibility to take care of all the sheep.

Unfortunately, he's got a lot of company. Especially at the NYT.

and from another point of view...

You know what they say: Never negotiate with terrorists. It only encourages them.

These last few months, much of the country has watched in horror as the “liberal democrats” have waged jihad on the American people. Their intransigent demands for MORE spending, coupled with their almost gleeful willingness to destroy one of America’s most invaluable assets, its full faith and credit, were incredibly irresponsible. krugman defines inteligent as “progressive left”

thus all inteligent people agree with him.

we need a true conservative msm outlet. FNC is a pretender.
