The Tea Party, the debt ceiling, and white Southern extremism (That's Racism! Alert)
Salon ^ | 8/2/2011 | Michael Lind

The Tea Party movement takes its name from the Boston Tea Party of 1773, when American patriots dumped British tea into Boston Harbor to protest British imperial power. But while New England was the center of resistance to the British empire, there are few New Englanders to be found in today's Tea Party movement. It should be called the Fort Sumter movement, after the Southern attack on the federal garrison in Fort Sumter in South Carolina on April 12-13, 1861, that began the Civil War. Today's Tea Party movement is merely the latest of a series of attacks on American democracy by the white Southern minority, which for more than two centuries has not hesitated to paralyze, sabotage or, in the case of the Civil War, destroy American democracy in order to get their way.

The mainstream media have completely missed the story, by portraying the Tea Party movement in ideological rather than regional terms. Whether by accident or design, the public faces of the Tea Party in the House are Midwesterners -- Minnesota's Michele Bachmann and Joe Walsh of Illinois. But while there may be Tea Party sympathizers throughout the country, in the House of Representatives the Tea Party faction that has used the debt ceiling issue to plunge the nation into crisis is overwhelmingly Southern in its origins...

Ask Jackie Robinson or former Celtics great Bill Russell if there was racism in the north?

If I’m not mistaken, the KKK originated in New York.

I’m really tired of “The South” being used as a pejorative.

I like to watch the cable series “A 1000 ways to die” on Spike TV. And I like the series “Coal”. But I have seen how the leftist liberals influence the production of stories on 1000 Ways to Die.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1000 Ways to Die

1000 Ways to Die is a docufiction television series that premiered on May 14, 2008 on Spike. The program recreates unusual supposed deaths and debunked urban legends[1] and includes interviews with experts who describe the science behind each death. Up until the end of season one, the final story of each episode showed actual footage of dangerous situations that almost ended in death, along with interviews with people involved in the situations. A portion of these deaths have been nominated for or have received a Darwin Award.

About Spike TV

Spike TV is available in 99.4 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks. A unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), MTV Networks is one of the world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms.

So, Mr. Liberal Cracker,

would you be willing to let half the country secede so you wouldn’t have to put up with us anymore??

No? Because you insist that we live as you would dictate to us?

The Democrat Party :
That brought us: Slavery, Terrorism(KKK), and Economic Depression.

Yeah, yeah, We’re racists, terrorists and hobbits.

And yet while screaming invectives at us they still can’t deny we’re devastatingly in debt, on verge of a credit downgrade that should have come long ago and risking economic collapse. They may feel better by throwing tantrums but I am well past the stage of caring. Let them scream in the middle of the store aisle. I’m not embarrassed, shamed or willing to give in to red faced children that don’t like hearing the word “No”.

The first Klan was founded in 1865
in Pulaski, Tennessee,
as a terrorist organization

But even his original comment is incorrect.

The Tea Party is doing everything according to the constitution. It is just that, in spite of their comments, the Tea Party represents the majority of Americans. Just wait and see after the 2012 elections.

The Tea Party is disappointed in the budget deal but accept that this was about as good as you can get with Dems in the White House and Senate.

The Tea Party will win at the ballot box in 2012 and make the changes after that. They are trying to use Saul’s rules but it is hard to smear a majority.

No there are not many New Englanders but there are plenty of Scotch Irish and Sons and Daughters of the Republic of Texas as well as Tennessee Volunteers.

Ignorant wretch.

Wow, Michael Lind was so anxious to display his utter ignorance that he couldn't restrain himself for any longer than it took to write the second sentence in order to unleash it.

Evidently he missed some clues along the way, such as the election of Senator Scott Brown, the election of Senator Kelly Ayotte, etc. etc.

But evidently he isn't one of those neanderthal sticklers for accuracy who would allow facts to get in the way of his foolish pet theories...

From a communist’s point of view, the ends ALWAYS justify the means because their ends are defined as a heaven on earth. To achieve those ends, anything is justified, including extermination of all who oppose them.

Stalin, IIRC, quoted thusly: So what if three quarters of the world’s population will have to be eliminated to achieve global communism. If the remaining fourth is all communist, we will have achieved perfection.

Expect more and louder hissy fits from liberals, more name-calling and more tantrums.

Liberals do indeed live in a fantasy world, but the real world in intruding in unwelcome and unignorable ways.

The economic, institutional, and intellectual underpinnings of liberalism and the Democratic Party are collapsing before their eyes. And that makes Mr. Liberal a very sad and very angry little fellow.

The Tea Party is doing everything according to the constitution.

The left would say that the Constitution is inherently racist because it was written by rich white slave owners.
Any reference to the Constitution by a leftist is purely out of convenience.

The fool starts right out with an error. The Tea Party actually takes its name from the slogan Taxed Enough Already.
