Cloward-Piven Paradise Now? (Hard to Argue with!)
American Thinker ^ | August 1, 2011 | Jeannie DeAngelis

Combine class warfare, demonizing the rich, getting as many people onto the welfare rolls as possible, and pushing the economic system to collapse and you have a flawless formula for Cloward-Piven 2.0 -- and a vehicle that ensures Obama remains in power.

“I agree, but Hunter Thompson (Gonzo leftist) thought that Clinton was a “set up” in 1992 by the far right so that he would fail so badly that the right wing could “take over the country in 1996”.

But do you think that is a true truth? I mean, I can entertain wild theories, even if sourced from a Hunter Thompson, but we both know that plenty of writers deliberately seek out the outrageous in an effort to pump themselves. Ann Coulter has a bit of that. What fails me in the HT theory is that I myself do not think the far right has ever had anything near that kind of power. Oh for sure, “the rich” have the ability and flexibility to shift their allegiances based upon whom actually gets elected. That they do as individuals. But “the rich” are not a uniform gaggle of people; nor are the “far right” sufficiently organized to get much of anything done. That HT theory fails Occams Razor, IMHO.

I think you speak a lot of truth. Our minds have a need to imagine a hidden force behind things, to try to work out a motivating or empowering force. It has to do with our need to seek order, it may have nothing to do with reality. It’s just mental comfort.

There are lots and lots of disaffected people out there. Some go so far as to be our overt enemies. Out of envy, some would be proud to see the system collapse, never mind that the greatest likelihood is that the rubble would fall on them. Some just regard our traditions and laws and morals and principles as nothing worthwhile nor special and couldn’t care less if they happen to see them fall into disrepair and collapse. Why the heck should capitalism be any better than socialism or Marxism or Pol Potism, we’ve tried capitalism and I didn’t get squat so what do I care?

You’re absolutely right: character matters.

Many of “the rich” love socialism, it keeps out their competition.

Again, I agree. The “rich” seemed bedazzled by Obama in 2008. But I think it was mostly because they thought (Like Goldman Sachs) that if they gave him enough $, he’d let them continue to make big bucks. Not to mention the good business to support a “black guy” for prez. In the real world, the super rich are also super liberal at least on social issues. There is no conservative ultra-rich cabal, as you said. Even the “evil” Koch brothers are socially liberal. They hold no real power electorally despite liberal protestations.

This time around we are not the Revolutionaries. We are the Loyalists. They have the Army and the flash mobs and the SWATS. We have the guns but I am not yet convinced that we will actually use them in enough numbers to have any effect beyond getting us killed piecemeal. There is no organization in place.

“[Free Trade] breaks up old nationalities and pushes the antagonism of the proletariat and the bourgeoisie to the extreme point. In a word, the free trade system hastens the social revolution. It is in this revolutionary sense alone, gentlemen, that I vote in favor of free trade.”

- Karl Marx

This is why FDR was such a strong proponent of free trade.

There is NO possibility of Obama imposing martial law, no matter how bad things get for him.

Why would it be in his interest to lay all of his cards on the table like that, and invite popular disgust and organized armed resistance, not to mention (and this is of great significance for Obama) world disapproval?

He has a lapdog media at his disposal, and still maintains a following of loyal, sycophantic Democrats, including a claque of respected business leaders, a waddling army of union goons, flash mobs of illiterate criminals, and a massive chunk of the apolitical lumpenproletariat that still regards him as clean, articulate, and cool.

The art of shaping popular opinion has become greatly refined in the past 50 years. Using martial law today, as Lincoln did, would be like conducting heart surgery with a hacksaw. It is in Obama’s interest to continue to engage in verbal legerdemain- demonizing his opponents, erecting strawmen, instigating conflicts that destabilize a social institution or three. In this era of instant, participatory media, there is no need to impose martial law when there are far more effective tools.

One should be armed, of course, but this is to defend yourself against brigands and warlords after our debt-fueled, post-capitalist economic system collapses in a heap of dust. The armaments will be good for barter, too.

The left will lose control of these crazed people, then try to impose martial law, and throw the constitution out the window. You wont have any rights and you’ll be arrested for posting on FR. The country is divided ideologically. It’s time to split the country. It’s better than totalitarianism, which is where we’re going right now.

I don’t see anybody really standing out and challenging Obama though I do believe Sarah Palin could.

I’m going off grid, become a nobody.

I don’t think he knows the final plan, he hasn’t seen it yet. He is being “fed” this stuff via his teleprompter and his daily briefings from “someone” ... this man is doing NOTHING on his own, it is all coming to him from somewhere. You bet there’s an end plan ... putting a total fraud (nobody knew him in college? No birth certificate?) into the White House on a “hope and change, racist” platform was no accident of history ... every step of this HAS BEEN TOTALLY PLANNED, it is ludicrous to think the plan doesn’t have a “next step.”

There is a plan and it is being carried out.
baraq is just the front man. He actually said that. He was to be the idea guy and others would carry out the details. Well the “others” are conducting a top down, bottom up strategy. The top being the govt officials like eric holder and the bottom being SEIU, UAW and van jones’ organization called Storm. Look up storm’s handbook online. They are calling for violent revolution to set things right. Jones is still a close advisor to baraq. Add in the cloward piven practice and the middle (us) gets squeezed out of existance. What the van jones crowd doesn’t understand is that if the dimrats succeed, they will be left behind. They are the usefull idiots just like the media.
