Bomb strapped to teenage girl's neck in Sydney
Mirror ^ | 8/3/11

Posted on 08/03/2011 3:42:06 AM PDT by LibWhacker

Police are trying to defuse a bomb strapped around the neck of a terrified teenage girl at a multimillion pound mansion in Sydney, Australia.

Cops raced to the Mosman home of the 18-year-old victim, who is part of one of Sydney's wealthiest families, after she raised the alarm.

A senior police officer has described the device as a 'collar bomb' and it's believed a ransom note has been attached to the girl's neck.

Which sub human group is behind this? Biden's call would be the Tea Party.

That said, prayer for the young girl and those trying to save her.

Sounds more like an extortion plot than a case of the Amish Down Under.

As the world economy slows, the West is going to start seeing these incidents more often. In South America the “haves” are always protecting their families from such kidnapping plots by the “have-nots”. In Brazil, the families of their soccer stars have to be guarded against it.

This just supports the fact the Marxism is a lie from the pit of hell.

I’m talking about the brainwashing of “have-nots” into demonizing of “haves” just because they “have”.

For a long time I agreed with your assessment, because the “have-nots” could be “haves” if they would just apply themselves. I’m not sure that same logic applies anymore; a lot of capable & willing people will not be working for a while because of forces COMPLETELY outside of their control.

In any case, I see Marxism as the deadly plague that it is, and would never defend kidnapping/terror as a means of re-distributing wealth; if these perps are caught public (painful) execution should deter this in the future.

A senior police officer has described the device as a 'collar bomb'

As opposed to a wrist bomb, ankle bomb or nose ring bomb?

It is a good thing that Australians are not allowed to use firearms for self defense. The man who entered the house and placed the bomb on her might have been hurt./S

It's been reported that a balaclava-clad man entered the home, in Burrawong Avenue, and placed the device around the neck of the girl this afternoon.

Sounds like the guy might be Greek.

Prayers for this young girl and her family. I find this terrifying. Wasn’t there a case in the U.S. where a man had a bomb around his neck and ordered to rob a bank. If memory serves me correctly (and it doesn’t always do that), I believe he didn’t survive. I am wondering if this is some kind of new terror of sorts. Prayers... they have to be worried sick.

The man who died did so because they didn’t really believe it was a bomb until it went off. They’ve learned from that mistake and have a much better response to this girl’s situation.

Neck collar bombs are a pivotal part of the japanese movie "Battle Royale" and are indeed an effective motivator.

I hope they can remove it quickly and safely.

I do remember something about the belief it was a hoax or that the police felt the man was using this bomb as a means of escape. I wonder how difficult it is to defuse a bomb strapped to a person (especially around her neck)? Not that I am saying any bomb defusing is a walk in the park but if it is on a person... does it raise the difficulty?

Police have defused a bomb strapped to a teenage girl at a house in the wealthy Mosman suburb of Sydney. The drama began on Wednesday afternoon (local time) when an 18-year-old girl called police to alert them to the device. Police are reportedly treating the case an extortion attempt. Her parents were distraught according to police, and had not been allowed to speak to the girl. There were four specialist police officers in the house with the teenager, and the incident went on for over seven hours.

Not totally new. Here's a lady who was killed by a necklace bomb back in the 1990s, I believe. Just one case among several in South America.

FARC rebels put it on her and because their demands weren't met, let it explode. The bomb squad couldn't do anything for the poor woman.

That is terrifying. To know that the device could go off at any minute and the clock just ticks by. It is one of those times that you think to yourself, “I hope it was very quick and she was aware one moment and gone the next”. Sad!

The story now is that the pizza guy was in on the planning, but thought the bomb was going to be a fake. When he discovered it was real, they basically forced the collar on him at gunpoint. A woman was convicted and is doing life+30 years and a guy is going 45 years (effectively life since there’s no parole in the federal system and the guy was 55 when convicted). Another conspirator died of cancer a couple of years before the arrests were made in 2007.
