I would fully support if those two agencies were to be mothballed. He would probably do that too...if possible. On the other side he is a ruling-class candidate which means no action on internal enforcement as he has demonstrated in Texas. ZERO ACTION ZERO PASSION on the issue.

Re: EPA and Ed Dept: (a sample)

Rick Perry: Al Gore's gone to Hell

Perry does not believe there is valid scientific proof of anthropogenic global warming.

On September 7, 2007 [wide ranging speech] Perry gave a speech to California Republicans

..............."Here again we see how little faith the Left has in the people. It’s as if the mere mention of God is so compelling that it might influence their atheist friends to start believing in something besides themselves. But whatever happened to reasoned discourse…to children in schools being exposed to different cultures and different faith traditions?

If they are so proud of their secular humanist worldview, why won’t they allow the simple-minded views of the uneducated masses to be lined up next to their philosophy of self…and all its wisdom…and just let the people decide?

And since when did the field of science become the sole purview of left-wing politicians? I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard Al Gore talk about man-made global warming so much that I’m starting to think that his mouth is the leading source of all that supposedly deadly carbon dioxide.

"Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you won't read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story."

"The terrorist element in the Middle East hates our way of life. And even with the battle raging in Iraq and Afghanistan, we cannot turn a blind eye to the regime in Iran that would obliterate the only democracy in the Middle East if they had a chance. And it’s no big secret that Iranian arms and know-how are finding their way across the border into Iraq, threatening the lives of our allies and, more importantly, our own fighting men and women."..............

Perry has put another conservative lead on TX Education board. The Left hates her (blocked similar appointment before her but Perry just put in someone how held the same views).

Perry has added an online TX school -- just announced today -- part of a Western Governors education initiative.

Perry has been pushing to get books online.

Perry has been pushing 7 Solutions here and Rick Scott has picked it up for review in FL and I'm sure others are looking at it too.

[Rick] Scott Promotes Controversial Education Reforms [Rick Perry has championed] “Gov. Rick Scott has begun discreetly promoting the same changes to the higher education system that Texas Gov. Rick Perry has championed. The proposals include some of the same reforms pushed by conservatives in K-12 schools: merit pay for professors, tenure reform, and generally a much greater emphasis on measurement of whether professors are turning out students that meet certain goals.

The attempt in Texas has caused something of an identity crisis in that states higher education community, with opponents saying what needs to be reformed is Perrys control over university policies.

Scott told the News Service of Florida on Tuesday that he has discussed the Texas reforms with his appointees to university and college governing boards in an effort to line up support for a nascent campaign to dramatically change how universities and colleges are funded, overhaul professor tenure, emphasize teaching over research, and give students more influence.

An admirer of Texas, Scott has developed a friendly relationship with Perry, who is flirting with the idea of seeking the Republican nomination for President in 2012. Texas is regularly praised for its business-friendly climate and has weathered the economic recession better than most states…….”

JUST LIKE PERRY DID AND SUED FOR TX MONEY AND WON!

Perry's education record distinctly different from Bush's

Higher Education Coalition attack on [Texas Gov. Rick] Perry raises eyebrows

[Texas Education Agency] TEA to lay off 178 workers [Thousands of pink slips for state workers] [great Freeper discussion about education]

Gov. Perry: Veterans’ Experiences, Skills are Valuable to Our Workforce --"The knowledge and skills our veterans bring back from service are an important, and all too often untapped, resource for our communities," Gov. Perry said.

"While we can never fully thank them for their service to our nation, I'm proud to sign this important bill, which helps veterans and military service members transition to civilian life by applying their skills and experience to help them graduate more quickly and save money on tuition."

Even Democrats are now alarmed about the state of education in this country but its too late because the GOP owns this issue.

This is all irrelevant if the entire state of Texas transforms into the political culture of Mexico. Perry & Ruling-Class are setting us up...riding the wave in the last years of the USA as we know...ZERO long-term thinking profits and soundbites in the here and now. Do you have kids?

And you come on most every thread to slam a good candidate.

Perry is a candidate? When did he announce? I've posted Perry's record. No slam. The question is why you time and again post here about Perry? Someone who is not running. Most times I come here any you have at least one post on the page. Many times it is the same stuff over and over. Sometimes at all hours as if you are more than one person. So I post back. That is what the site is for.

Who is your choice?

Have not decided. Maybe it will be Perry. I have held my nose and voted for the RINO before.

Well the one good thing I have read about Perry is that he said not long ago that the first 100 days of a Perry presidency would include shutting down the EPA and the Dept of Educ

Nice words. Where can I find a news story about that?

SARA...understanding the concept of Rule of Law:

“The DREAM Act, well see, the immigrants of the past, they had to literally and figuratively stand in line to become U.S. citizens,” said Palin. “I’d like to see that continue, and unfortunately the DREAM Act kind of usurps that, the system.”

Thank you for praising my early to bed, early to rise work ethic -- and I am just one person but I do multi-task well.

As for coming around, why bother if I'm just posting the same stuff over and over? Unless it is precisely to knock a "potential" GOP candidate?

If you don't know a candidate you like, why don't you put yourself out there and we'll all take a good look at you and your life, and pick apart everything you've ever done using minimal information, but what the hey -- that seems to be what everyone does.

Palin was talking about the Congressional Dream Act not the 1991 Texas Dream Act that passed the Texas Senate unanimously — not the goody bag that was being pushed by the Democrats on the Hill.

Sarah Palin was not the governor of a border state. It’s easy to pass judgment when it isn’t you dealing with these issues.

Absolutely, Palin was responding no doubt to the DREAM ACT scheme in DC. I am pointing out that she understands the concept of Rule of Law. Perry is using humanitarian arguments (like communists & liberals do) to justify a tuition rate break for the children of illegal immigrants. Further, he has stood by while they have access to taxpayer revenues from oil & gas to fund grant monies to illegals. That money should be going to American citizen offspring. Have you seen pictures of all the men we have sent off to fight for freedom? Did they die just so people like PERRY could give it all away? To help him aspire to the top of the political offices the monies funding his aspirations are from those who have a VESTED INTEREST IN CHEAP LABOR. To me this is REVOLTING!

BTW -- that "grade" Bachmann got, I guess you're using the "Numbers USA" site run by Roy Beck:

“.....A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, Beck won national awards during the 1970s for his coverage of urban expansion issues, including honors from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Izaak Walton League. In addition to the advocacy of immigration reduction, much of his work focuses on urban planning and sprawl-related matters..... Source

One other thing, Rick Perry signed VOTER PHOTO ID into state law last month -- took him 6 years but we have it. Only 6 states have a photo ID voter requirement.

I was right there at the King Street meeting when he attended and announced the passage of voter ID. Everyone was very happy. I heard his speech that night he did a great job.

I am not really a big fan of NUmbers right now as they are pushing the National E-Verify bill which is pleasing to the Chamber of Commerce. They know this bill has raised the bar on legal evidence so high it will be impossible to enforce.Further, the bill will trash the recent Supreme Court ruling allowing local/state control in US Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting through pre-emption.
