Don't Believe You Won, Tea Party
EIB Network ^ | August 3, 2011 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: I'm still confused. If Republicans were the ones putting guns to everybody's heads, how come the Democrats got away with all the money? Two-point-four trillion is a pretty good haul even by the Democrat Party's high criminal standards. How can it be said that Obama lost? We got people on our side running around saying that. This was a big win. And you Tea Party people, I want you to beware, there are people trying to convince you that you won big, that you changed the game, that you changed the way things are going, and they are lying to you. Do not give up the task, do not give up the momentum, and don't think that you've won anything here. This is not a victory. I don't care what anybody tries to tell you. They're just trying to shut you up. They're just trying to make you go away. They're trying to make you satisfied. The more you're satisfied, the less rambunctious you're gonna be.

There was NO Tea Party victory in this debacle.....Palin, et. al. should stop saying otherwise. The Tea Party was played and duped. If you are a fiscal conservative, you should be furious.

If it weren’t for the Tea Party, the Democrats—and Republicans too—would have done much worse.

Yeah..and they managed to spend 25% of it in 24 hours. That is some kind of record. Sounds to me that we will be hitting the limit again before the election.

Whenever this many politicians vote for the same thing, there is only one loser......the taxpayer.

This is just one more battle in a war that will last for years. Rush isn't a realist that lives in “Realville” he's a pessimist that always has a black cloud sitting above him. Rush wants to be William F. Buckley but he's turning into a less talented Pat Buchanan.

Guys we only have 1/3 of the Govmt controls. This was a skirmish.. I’m tired of hearing Donald Trump and others
complaining... We had a skirmish and held the ground and did not cede the ground. It was only one skirmish in a war.. Do you want people like Donald Trump by your side during the next fight? How are we going to win the war when we cannot stand together through only one skirmish
when they had 2/3 more resources than we did. I’m proud.
Keep up the fight! Don’t stop and don’t turn on your own
folks!

If you read it peoperly, she was inflecting a bit of sarcasm. Hear it and you'll pick it up.

“If it weren’t for the Tea Party, the Democrats—and Republicans too—would have done much worse.”

I don’t mean to denigrate the Tea Party....just those fools who call this a victory. Minimizing damage is not a victory. By that reasoning, Pearl Harbor was a victory because the U.S. Carriers weren’t present to be bombed.

I am beyond Furious, I'm over the top LIVID.

Those Tea Party Congress was sent there to HOLD THE LINE for us. They caved. Where is the victory in that? NONE.

And I don't want to hear, "It could have been worse", NO, it could have been BETTER, if they had just kept their promise.

For once let the CRISIS happen, of course there never was a crisis and we know it. So any guesses on what the next CRISIS, the sky is falling panic will be?

Now get the hell to work on the Obamacare repeal, of course we all know that will never happen either.

I think the Tea Party and other fiscal conservatives won’t let themselves be bullied into silence next time.

This was an intervention by the taxpayers trying to stop the spendaholics in Washington. In the end we got a promise to do better in the future if we just give them another 2.5 trillion dollars.
This is the way it happens every time with addicts of any kind; just give them what they want and they promise they will never do this again.

A successful intervention would have been if we had stopped them cold and forced a shutdown of the government's non essential services. We could have then had a serious discussion about the size of government services given the size of our wallet. I guess we have not hit rock bottom yet.

It’s like someone who has maxed out all their credit and still managed a cash out refinance of their house. They take the money don’t pay off the bills and keep on living like there’s no tomorrow.

The time is approaching when it all comes due.

If they had “held the line” as you put it, the Democrats would have engineered some defacto-default, stopped Granny’s checks, blamed the Tea Party with the help of the media, and would have severely damaged the Republicans in 2012. I saw this script before... it happened during the gov’t shutdown in the mid 90’s.

This isn’t a battle... its a war. And the next big skirmish, perhaps the biggest of all, is in 2012. We’re in a great position to take the Senate, hold the House, and take the White House. We’re changed the narrative, taken a first step (albeit a small one), and stopped the rubber stamping of increases to the debt limit.

A “victory” as you describe it now would have been very very short-lived. Long term is the only way we fix this.

There will be fallout for this.

The next step is for the Ruling Class to show us our proper place.

It will be harsh.

“Those Tea Party Congress was sent there to HOLD THE LINE for us. They caved. Where is the victory in that? NONE.”

I’m not Tea Party per se. And I spoke out that “some” compromise was going to be necessary when stalwarts like Jim Robinson said to “hold the line.” I now realize I was wrong. Really wrong!

I foolishly believed that the Tea Party conservatives would get at least half of what they sought IF they compromised and played along. Shows what a fool I can be.

Jim Robinson was right...and now I publically state I was wrong and apologize to him for my suggestions of the necessity of compromise. You cannot compromise with these establishment types....they only will play you for a fool.

“Guys we only have 1/3 of the Govmt controls”

We had our hand on the f****** off switch.
IF WE DID NOTHING WE WOULD HAVE WON.
No bill = shutdown = austerity spending = exactly what we wanted.
The deficit would have been eliminated with no effort.
Default would be averted because enough money comes in to write the important checks, which go out automatically as is.
The resulting resulting surplus (!) would have started well on paying off the debt.

We gave them a CC&B bill which lacked only 4 votes in the Senate.
They tabled it without a glance.
We should have sent it back, over and over, saying
“Pass this bill or we shut this place down. Either choice is fine by us.”

Skirmish? 1/3rd control? BS. We had the nuclear option, and decided to do a million troop land invasion instead.
We could have won by doing exactly nothing.
Instead, our leaders gave them exactly what they wanted: the biggest debt ceiling hike in history, and $26T in spending increases for a decade.
WTF?
