Trump: "If the Republicans nominate the wrong person, I'm running." - Vanity
August 4, 2011 | no dems

Posted on 08/04/2011 8:31:07 AM PDT by no dems

Last night on Greta VanSusteren's program, Donald Trump said that if the GOP nominates the "wrong person" and the economy is still bad, he WILL run for President. He then acknowledged that he knows the economy will still be "bad". So, that leaves only one consideration; if he doesn't like the nominee, he's running as a Third Party candidate. He did say, however that he "likes" Michele Bachmann and that he "loves" Sarah Palin. He was very non-committal on Mitt.

Oh boy, the plot thickens.

You are exactly correct.

The one way that wouldn’t happen is if Obama is viewed as so odious by America at that time, he actually garners less than a third of the votes. Then it becomes a race between the third party and the Republican.

I’ve become convinced that there will be a third party no matter who the nominee is this time. They’ve been practicing, running “TEA Party” candidates who are really Democrats.

I thought he said he would “seriously consider” running if the GOP picks the wrong candidate.

I am having trouble taking him seriously at this point. This “I might run” stuff seems to be a way to get his face on camera.

“Trump had his chance and withdrew. If he announces again, he will be perceived as a joke.”

Like Ross Perot?

I hope Trump doesn’t run.

Trump showed his hand and let us know he was an Obama flunky with the birth certificate deal.
He didn’t challenge the authenticity of the released copy and went away silently.
Set up.

This guy is going to ruin the election and guarantee “The Divine One” will control the tides for one more term.

There are times that I wonder if Palin is sufficiently Machiavellian to use both Trump and Bachmann as stalking horses, to prepare the electoral battlefield before her entry into the race.

This could be wishful thinking, or tinfoil-hat thinking, or something else entirely. Magic 8-Ball says Answer Unclear, Try Again Later.

Maybe some high profile person like Rush, O’Reilly or Hannity could get that word to Trump: If you really want Obama out of the White House, run as a Democrat; challenge him in every Primary. That would weaken him financially and politically. SOMEBODY TELL DONALD THAT!!!

You’ve got a good point there.

But still, he’s been very critical of Obama.

Why on earth would any business person want interference from the government? Makes no sense.

I feel the same way about Perry and Palin.

If this guy is threatening to run “third party”, he likes Obama and is willing to help him get reelected.

Perot, for all his vices, was pretty good on the issues. Trump is such a reflexive statist that he might actually steal votes from Obama.

Interesting that he just likes Bachmann but loves Palin. They had that meeting on the bus tour too. Somthing is going on.

If that "third party" sucks votes from Obama, I'm all for it but if it reassures Obama's reelection, I'm sick of these "purists" who are willing to throw elections to the RATs.

Any so-called "conservative" who has run as a "third party" has helped contribute to the destruction we are suffering in the American economy right now!!!

Yea, and it smells to high heaven. I don’t trust either one of them now. I saw Palin’s film where she throws the whole Republican party under the bus. There have been troublesome hints all along the way but I’m still optimistic enough to believe that they won’t do this because if they do, it’s the epitome of selfishness.

I think that NBC gave him enough money not to run, but he sees the bigger picture now and will step up if he believes the Republican nominee isn't right for the job.

If Mitt gets the nod, I'll vote for Trump. No. Way. I. Vote. For. Mitt.
