I just realized how very much smaller the FAA could be. No one even noticed they were gone.

Didn’t even know there was a problem-shows how ‘vital’ these Gov’t organizations are.

Thank God! Now we can have aviation again.

We never lost any aviation just guys cutting the grass and some secretaries. The federal employees will be paid and the contractors will have unpaid vacation.

“Fully Fund!?” Does this mean no cuts to the FAA budget? If not, that little bump in the dept limit might not last until the 2012 elections.

The only real negativity besides the workers not being able to be paid and pay bills was the fact that we lost 2 billion dollars in lost tickets. That is not really a positive at all.

Story says that they’ve worked out a short-term compromise, but it doesn’t give any details.

And, Congress is away on vacation, so they’d have to figure out a way to get them to all come in back for a vote...

Actually, Boehner's bill (the House bill) is part of what seems to have caused the Dems to have a tizzy in the first place.

It withdrew funding from some small airports in Dem territories like NM.

Fox is reporting that the Senate will vote on the House bill then the White House will “waive” the part of the bill they don’t like or agree with.

Not if the Dems had to give up the new union voting rules.

The story doesn't say how it was resolved so it's hard to tell.

translation: the 7% ticket tax is back.

I wonder if bending forwards so much hurts the republican leadership.

Cause a problem and then get credit for solving it—temporarily.

They had to solve it quickly because it wasn’t gaining traction or attention. **rolling my eyes**

"This agreement does not resolve the important differences that still remain," Reid said in a written statement. "But I believe we should keep Americans working while Congress settles its differences, and this agreement will do exactly that."

But you've got to give the airlines credit for moving fast. When the feds stopped collecting the tax, they all moved immediately to raise their fares an equivalent amount.
