Obama's 50th Birthday bash: Stevie Wonder, Chris Rock, Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Herbie Hancock...
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | August 5, 2011 | Lynn Sweet

Posted on 08/05/2011 2:22:10 AM PDT by maggief

WASHINGTON--President Obama celebrated his 50th birthday Thursday night with a celebrity-filled bash, as entertainer Chris Rock reported on his Twitter feed: "Just left the Presidents birthday party at the White House. Herbie Hancock played, Stevie Wonder sang and yes they did the electric slide. A great night."

Daughter Malia, 13 just arrived home from summer camp in time for the Rose Garden party as she was joined by her sister, Sasha, 10, First Lady Michelle, grandmother Marian Robinson and their godmother, Eleanor "Mama Kaye, Wilson," who flew to Washington from Chicago on Air Force One with Obama when he returned from his Thursday fund-raiser back home.

The guests toasted the President throughout the night. Also on hand to mark the Presidential milestone were former governors Bill Richardson and Tim Kaine, and Mr. Obama's staunchest allies in the debt battle--Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Senior White House staff also celebrated: Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Cecelia Munoz, John Brennan, and Valerie Jarrett. Mrs. Obama's former Chief of Staff, Susan Sher, flew in from Chicago, as did two of the President's closest pals: Dr. Eric Whitaker, University of Chicago Hospital Vice-President, and The Parking Spot President and CEO Marty Nesbitt. Campaign fundraiser Andy Spahn was spotted, too.

On the menu... There was "not a tie in sight" for the birthday dinner, according to one guest; men wore light summer-weight button downs and trousers, and women were attired in summer dresses--many taking their fashion cue from Mrs. Obama, and going sleeveless. Dinner was grilled chicken and steak, and Chicago-style hot dogs, with salad made with fresh greens plucked from Mrs. Obama's Kitchen Garden, as well as vegetable sides, accompanied by American wines. Tables were covered with simple gray cloths, and anchored by sprays of yellow flowers and greens. There was birthday cake, of course, and pie.

It's about as much her garden as it is my dog's garden. Wonder how much it cost the taxpayers for those fresh greens?

The President was correct in his state of the union address when he said we face a deficit of trust. Everyday he does at least two more things to make sure that We the People have no reason to trust him.

Obama's party--paid for, the White House said, by the First Couple--was closed press and not on his official schedule. Obama's team was not eager for pictures of the bash, coming as the stock market was plunging and a new jobless report comes out Friday morning.

How many of these "paid for by the First Couple" parties have The First Couple thrown now? What happens when the party bill exceeds the income of The First Couple? Food Stamps?

I refuse to buy a ticket to Spielberg or a Tom Hanks production.

Unfortunately, Spielberg is very good at his craft - so is that bastard Hanks.

Many Americans don’t see the connect between their ticket money and financial assistance offered to bastards like Obama by these leftist Hollyweird creeps.

My instincts tell me that the Obamas and their friends have been celebrating mass short-sellings of the markets these past few days. Is it unthinkable? I think not.

The ubiquitous Tom Hanks, the actor who you can never forget is Tom Hanks. Surpassed only by Meryl Streep in being overused in movies and perhaps by Kim Kardashian in the enough already category. Is that a soldier? No, it's Tom Hanks, an actor. Is that a patriot? No, it's Tom Hanks, an actor. He's just a little tool, Obama's fool.

“He’s just a little tool, Obama’s fool. “

Good one!

I remember when he was caught saying something positive about Bush II. Spielberg “spanked” him and told him to straighten up or the Hollyweird Establishment wouldn’t use him anymore.

So many of these freaks - Ron Howard (”Opie” gone wrong), Martin Scorsese, Spielberg etc, are left-wing subversives.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/60722.html

(snip)

The evening began with chicken, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta and salad in the Rose Garden, and then four kinds of pie: apple, peach, huckleberry and cherry. At the end of the dinner, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha presented the president with a cake, before the party moved indoors.

(snip)

Members of the cabinet on hand included Clinton, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk.

From Capitol Hill: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul, Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Former DNC chairman and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine — now a Senate candidate — was there, as was Patrick Gaspard, the DNC’s executive director. Al Sharpton and UBS Investment Bank President Robert Wolf were also there.

Many White House and campaign staffers – past and present – were on hand, including former chief of staff and Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and his successor Bill Daley, former press secretary Robert Gibbs, advisors Valerie Jarrett, David Plouffe and David Axelrod. Plus: Anita Dunn and Bob Bauer, Denis McDonough, Michael Strautmanis, Pete Rouse, Deputy Chief of Staff Alyssa Mastromonaco, Tina Tchen, White House chef Sam Kass, Julianna Smoot, Marty Nesbitt, Eric Whitaker, Linda Douglass, and many more.

Also on hand: plenty of Chicago and law school friends, and their kids.

This reminds me of a tale I read when I was young. "The Masque of the Red Death" was written by Edgar Allen Poe.

As I remember it, the ruler, nobles and elites had sequestered themselves in the palace because of a highly infectious plague rampant in the country.

They were dancing and orgying and congratulating themselves at a masked ball in one of the palace's great rooms. They felt themselves immune from the sufferings and deaths of the peasants in fly-over country.

They were totally enjoying themselves till at midnight, a masked and grotesquely costumed reveler amongst them revealed himself..... a hideous skulled creature who, of course, was the plague itself.

The nobility and elites swooned with cries of fear as they knew they would now die themselves.

Draw whatever analogies you may to the opulent birthday party for the Prince of Thieves, his corrupt nobles, the elites and the hired court jesters held the other night in Chicago's Aragon Ballroom.
