Despite having not yet announced his candidacy, many are seemingly already considering Texas Gov. Rick Perry as the man with the best chance to defeat President Barack Obama in 2012.
Under his stewardship, Perry has created more jobs than any other state in the country in recent years. The Dallas Federal Reserve estimated that all of the jobs created in the country in the two years from April 2009, a low of 37 percent (2009) to high off 48 percent (recently) were created in Texas.
Perry also supplies substance-starved citizens with a deep-rooted belief system. From the surface, his deepest views have not changed much since his early days in a cotton-farming community in Paint Creek in the 1950s.
"We believed in God, we believed in taking care of ourselves and one another, and we believed that America was the greatest nation on earth," he wrote in the preface to "Fed Up," the book he wrote last year.

Perry, even if he has grown up to be an authentic Constitutional Conservative (which I doubt, given his being a former demrat) will always be suspect as far as Tea Party is concerned. We cnnot afford to make a mistake and vote for RINOs again.
I would hope that Perry supporters will, in the end, accept this reality and put their energy behind Palin or Bachmann.

No...I don't mean the creed they follow. Heaven knows there are many many many more than two of them. No, here's what I think the difference is (at least to my eyes).
There are the "tshirt slogan" christians....and the "internalized" christians.
Here's what I mean. The "tshirt slogan" christians, while fine folk with strong beliefs, feel that they must advertise their "christianity" to any and everyone. I've seen these kind of folk throughout the world. You know the type and can "see" them in your own mind far better than I can describe them. Take Mr. Perry for exampe. Today, he's holding a political rally poorly disguised as a "prayer meeting". If you want to spend the time, take a look at the guest list! Showy....all about "christianity" while raising funds for a political campaign. IMHO...very poor judgement. One can only wonder why the good Gov. hasn't done one of these before. Why this one in particular comes at this particular time. Ah well, again, IMHO, very poor judgement...and gives me a terrible feeling of mis-trust in the guy. The phrase that keeps popping into my head is "all for show".
Now...the other....the "internalized" christians. There has been one and only one true saint alive - at least of whom I am aware - in my lifetime. And that is Mother Theresa. Yes...we all saw occasional pictures of her in her nun garb...usually when she was out and about trying to raise money to help her in her work. What we saw very little of was the day to day activity of this remarkable woman. A woman who let her chrisianity shine by busting her butt for the poores of the poor in sections of India where animals couldn't even live. No preaching...no "symbology", no praying...just vast amounts of very hard, very dirty work.
No I am not going to compare Mrs. Palin to Mother Theresa...except to say, that Mrs. Palin "wears" her christianity on the inside (as did Mother Theresa and countless millions of others do today). She lives by it. If asked about it, she will answer directly, truthfully (I honestly believe that if that lady every tried to lie, her tongue would snap out of her head!)...and then go back to doing her business. She leads by her life...and if that example convinces someone to become a christian or to follow a christian lifestyle, all well and good.
Give me the "internal" christian over the "tshirt slogan" christian any day. For the simple fact of the matter - at least for me - is this. I trust implicitly Mrs. Palin. What I "see" is exactly what I get. Take it or leave it. Scarce "grey" area. She is what she is.
As to Mr. Perry...I've no idea what is there. I get the queasy, uneasy feeling that - given the moment - he'll use his "tshirt slogan" christianity smoothly as a club, an inducement, or a reward...depending on the situation. But what is he like internally?? I have no idea. Worse, if he tried to tell me, I wouldn't believe him for a second. In short, Mr. Perry is a politician...and as far removed from real, "on the street" people as a politician can get.
So...if ever there comes a time to vote between these two, you now know for whom my vote will be cast. Take it or leave it.
Of course, IMHO.
I would say that Perry is exponentially better that our last NAZI democrat nominated candidate from AZ, and magnitudes better than our current alleged president.
This can not be the only goal, or we will wind up just like we did on the Debt Ceiling sellout.
Anyone who live through the early 50's remembers well the "Better Red than Dead" slogan. In my mind anyone but Obama is pretty close to the same thing.

Every day we in Texas hear disbelieving conservative citizens on local talk radio asking “...is the national media serious about Rick Perry as a conservative president?”
Because here in Texas, we know Rick Perry is anything but a conservative.
As the moderates realize the country wants a conservative president, they want to find us one. Romney was fine until ObamaCare was modeled on his RomneyCare. Kind of looks fatal to the moderates. So, who’s next?

Palin can do it and much more solidly. Perry is questionable even in Texas, but Palin is solid in every Red state.

Perry, who told the Des Moines Register in recent days that God may be calling him to run for president, has long said Washington has not deployed enough manpower to the Texas-Mexico border. He repeated that criticism this morning, saying he wants 3,000 Border Patrol agents along the border in Texas and 1,000 troops from the National Guard. He said the administration’s decision to send 286 troops last year was “grossly inadequate.â€
“The federal government continues to turn a blind eye to this problem,†Perry said.
Last August, when President Barack Obama came to Austin for a fundraiser, Perry met him at the airport and tried to hand him a letter asking for National Guard troops. (He gave the letter to an Obama aide.) Perry later bragged in a re-election commercial that he had “confronted†Obama, showing footage of their brief encounter.
Gov. Perry on Border Security
We cannot have homeland security without border security. Under Gov. Perry, Texas has been a leader on border security while the federal government has faltered. Under his leadership, Texas has put more boots on the ground, more technology to use, and more targeted operations to dramatically reduce all crime along the border.
— Surge Operations. Starting in June 2006, state-funded operations have committed resources to strategic areas, resulting in an average of 65 percent reduction of all crime, including rape, murder, human trafficking and narcotics smuggling in our border communities. In 2009, the 81st Legislature reapproved funding for border operations, dedicating more than $110 million for the second consecutive session.
— Transnational Gang Initiative. In response to a rising tide of gang violence in Texas communities, Gov. Perry secured funding for enhanced anti-gang efforts all across the state. On Feb. 26, 2009, Gov. Rick Perry sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano requesting the deployment of an additional 1,000 National Guard soldiers to the Texas-Mexico border and has yet to receive a response. Gov. Perry reiterated his request and concerns in a letter to President Barack Obama on Aug. 21, 2009.
— Ranger Recon. In September, Gov. Perry launched the Ranger Recon security initiative, which utilizes Ranger Reconnaissance Teams to tap the specialized criminal intelligence and apprehension capabilities of the Texas Rangers to protect Texans who live in remote areas of the border and whose lives and property are threatened by criminals coming across the border.
