NASHUA — Three reserved parking spaces for hybrid and low-emission cars at the new $3.3 million state liquor store are located closer to the store’s main entrance than the handicapped parking spots, causing at least one lawmaker to call the design a slap in the face to the disabled.

I see nothing wrong with this.

Anyone with one of those POS cars obviously has some kind of handicap.

And another 25% have electric wheel chairs or someone else driving.

When we visit my MIL, who has the real capper plates not the fake little hangtag, we park in the capper spots for Mass - Steve drops us at the door, I help her out and we wait while he parks the car. Afterwards he goes to get the car and I help her back in. She's up to two canes now and can't stand very long. If he wasn't driving, she couldn't go at all.

I have a handicap placard. Sometimes I use it and sometimes I don’t. There are definitely a lot of people scamming. Mine is legit but some days and in some circumstances, I’d just as soon not use it.
But it is nice to have it when I need it.
When it comes to liquor stores, I think everyone should have to walk at least a mile to buy what they sell there. Maybe that would cut down on some of the personal destruction and misery resulting from the consumption of their product.

“This vehicle is a hybrid. Sometimes it runs on gas. Sometimes it has to be pushed!”

Great idea! Now, in the winter, I can park my diesel F-350 in those spots and plug in the block heater!

I saw a hybrid yesterday that was the size of a golf cart, it is going to fall apart if there is a fender bender with an evil SUV.

I guess we should encourage a hefty tax deduction for environazis to buy these cars, we can pay for them to self-exterminate.

“What if one is handicapped and also drives a hybrid?”

Some of us believe that owning a hybrid is prima facie evidence of the diminished mental capacity known as “Irrational Liberalism”

Close to 50% of the people using the handicapped spaces are scamming the system IMHO.

I think the percentage is higher, maybe 70%. But then there's the 30% who really need it.

I get so angry when I see an obese lady in very high heel shoes prancing out of the mall and to her car in a handicap spot. She's handicapped alright but probably not physically.

I hate it when people say that SUVs are unsafe. What they means is that if an SUV hits a little tiny car, the occupants of the little tiny car will die. Therefore, SUVs are unsafe.

To my mind, this is precisely backwards. But I know Liberals who think I'm crazy.

That means you can straddle a line and take up two spots.

True story. My wife and I flew down to FL last spring. On the way from the airport we stopped at a Wendys which is next door to a Dennys. While eating we notice a man holding a purse approaching a van parked in a Handicapped spot in the Wendy’s parking lot.We figured he would drive the van around to the door of the Wendys and pick up whomever needed it. What happens next even shocked me. Out of the door of the Dennys comes a “Handicapped” female. She walks past full handicapped and open non handicapped spots in the Dennys lot to the Wendys lot next door to get into the van parked in a handicapped spot.

I have called the cops on them. $250 ticket. Two black Escalades full of minority teenagers with Mom and Aunt Esther driving, pulled into two HC spaces at the Golden Corral buffet joint. Tags hanging from the rearview mirrors. I ratted on them. I was using my cane that day, and had to park 10 rows away.

More than that.

I believe that benefiting from a handicapped placard without medical need should have the same fine as parking in one of the spots.

If you’re borrowing Gramps’ car, you shouldn’t be able to park in the blue spot. (That’s immoral to begin with).

Cut about 75% or the placard. If you can walk all around Wal-Mart behind a shopping cart, you can walk from a normal parking spot, no matter how old and tired you might feel.

Wheelchairs, walkers, crutches. And not too much more. Most permits should be temporary (like after someone gets knee surgery). Permanent permits should be renewed every 5 years. Doctors should be monitored like they are for narcotic prescriptions, and abusers lose their permit issuing ability.

And we’d be doing the jumbo-trons a favor by having them walk a few more yards per day.

I’d also cut the number of spots by about half.

I drive a dual-fuel vehicle. It burns both gasoline and rubber.
