Democrats view Rick Perry as vulnerable and are gearing up to take him on
Boston Herald ^ | August 7, 2011 | Todd J. Gillman The Dallas Morning News

WASHINGTON — As Rick Perry gears up for a presidential bid, Democrats also are making preparations — dusting off years of opposition research, sharpening attack points, designing anti-Perry websites and, for the most part, awaiting his entry with more eagerness than anxiety.

They’re not trying to tip the GOP primary. But in seeking to tar Perry as a flawed extremist, they want to ensure that as voters beyond Texas get to know him, he won’t be able to shake that image later.

"He has a pretty poor record as governor of Texas on a lot of measures — on wage growth, on job growth, on health care," said Bill Burton, head of a new pro-Obama political action committee, Priorities USA, and until recently the deputy White House press secretary.

.....Texas Democrats will offer a one-stop shop to expose what they see as Perry’s warts, gaffes and failures. They’ve created a website (www.meetrickperry.com) devoted to that cause. It’s fundraising tool for now, but it will go live when and if Perry jumps into the race, perhaps this month.

"We’ll do everything we can to introduce him to the American public," Richie said. "We have been working diligently to put material together."

Note: A Dallas Morning News story run in the Boston Herald. Mitt Romney (Mass)is being very quite about Perry because he doesn't want to upset financial backers that have been holding back. Perry would clean Romney's clock. Romney is hoping that the MSM will let him keep his fingers clean. And Obama's crowd is already gearing up to attack Perry. Well, they have a thing or two to learn about Rick Perry (but probably already know).

The Rick Perry I Know ......"He is an extremely astute politician with a keen sense of where voters are, and he has great instincts on message. Perry has ruthless discipline and communication. They say in politics, “Don’t let your boot off an opponent’s neck till Election Day.” Perry doesn’t take his boot off till a year after the votes have been counted and the opponent has faded into oblivion. He is actually a better campaigner than George W. Bush (Perry’s predecessor as Texas governor) was when he first entered the national scene.".....

……”Perry didn’t have a lot of use for the media — not after two terms as governor — nor did the media have much use for him, as most major papers endorsed his GOP rival in the gubernatorial primary and Democratic rival in the general election.

He further enraged the media when he spoke at a national editorial writers gathering last fall and wouldn’t take questions, prompting the group’s “stunned” president to send Perry a letter accusing of him of “disingenuousness” and going back on his word.

The fact is, Perry was so far ahead that he didn’t need the press, and he romped to a huge win in his reelection bid.”…. Source

Bill Burton, eh? I am happy to have him leading the opposition any day. What an embarrassment to the great state of Texas.

Just so he picks Rubio or Allen West for VP. I am a Texan and dislike a couple of things Perry has done but I will vote for him in 2012 without hesitation. And actually, I prefer him to the current campaigners. I don’t like Romney, Bachman is an exceptional woman but don’t want her for president. Huntsman makes me think of the ‘old guard’ RINO’s, and that just wont cut it. I love Cain, respect Pawlenty. How could you not like Rand Paul, but...and its a big ‘but’. I say, go for it Perry....

If that is the best they can throw at him, then they ain’t got much. If you want to talk about someone with a poor record on wage growth, job growth and health care, then talk about Obama.

We have nothing to lose with Perry and everything to gain.

I don't care if Fred Flintstone is the nominee, I'll vote for him just to get the MARXIST out office.

I do not prefer Perry, I prefer Sarah, but if she doesn’t run, Perry may be better than most in the race so far. I still think Bachman has found her high water mark and Romney will fade. I wish Santorum would get a better look. :(

Bingo! That's what makes the point of their argument so funny. Are they that out of touch with reality??

The Left hates Rick Perry with a passion because he goes after their sacred big political campaign contributors, Big Education and Trial Lawyers. He’s standing against the EPA’s assault on Texas. He wants Obamacare repealed. Texas has growth and jobs and Obama’s record stands in stark comparison. But Rick Perry is praying for Obama.

Daily? Constantly:)

Whispers from Austin say that there are some folks in town making inquiries in to Perry's sexuality. He better be prepared for that. It is coming.
