Dean: What is tea party smoking?

Former Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean says the tea party was "totally unreasonable" in the deficit-reduction debate and warns that Republicans are being held hostage.

"This is a tea party problem," Dean said Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation." "They are totally unreasonable and doctrinaire and not founded in reality. I think they've been smoking some of that tea, not just drinking it."

"This is ridiculous what's going on here," he said.

The firebrand Democrat and former Vermont governor said the Standard & Poor's downgrade of the nation's credit is "a good thing" because it underscores the need to raise revenue to address the nation's fiscal crisis.

But he said certain elements of the Republican Party make it impossible for reasonable people to do what Dean said is right -- raising taxes on the wealthy.

..and I fear it will work. Obama will end up skirting this entire issue and blame will be placed in the one place where blame is least deserved, in the tea party’s lap. There is simply NO one out there defending the tea party and blaming Obama’s out of control spending for the debt crisis.

I see the talking points are out......

Kerry called it "the tea party downgrade"

This will not work. Thinking Americans know you cannot tax and spend your way to prosperity, and that is the tea party message.

I just hope there are enough thinking Americans left.

We need to start calling the ‘Rats the Teat Party. It will sow great confusion as to who is talking about what.

It's a problem with your Teat Party.

On behalf of teats, I object.

OK, you can invoke teats and those pigs in the same sentence. But not breasts. Breasts are sacred.

Can we all agree on that?

It’s not Bushes fault anymore. It now is Tea Party. LOL

The TEA party is a greater threat to the Republicans than the Dems. But both sides don’t want them.

I expect the TEA party Freshmen to be exiled soon.

It is their Alinsky Communist playbook:

Always posit lies. “The big lie repeated over and over and over again becomes the truth.” (No matter how outrageous—like homosexuality is “good”) (Works best with the “plastic” minds of children—Dewey—get your kids and grandkids OUT of the indoctrination centers and turn off tv)

It is what their press is for—to make lies become the truth and fill the masses heads with cognitive dissonance so they couldn’t think if they wanted to.

The “free” press is owned. It is exactly like Winston Smith’s world....only they have a few “leaks” in their system....Not as tight as 1984 YET!!!!

There is simply NO one out there defending the tea party and blaming Obama’s out of control spending for the debt crisis.

Yes, but since the Tea Party has no leader (and Sarah Palin has been wise enough to lay low) the Democrat attacks come off even to casual observers like a little kid blaming the wall he just ran into for hurting his head.

The Alinsky tactics don't work as well if they can't be used on an individual. Democrats just sound pathetic. and a lot of people who fell for the personalized attacks on GWB last time aren't going to fall for this.
