Our utter failure of a president is looking to Hollywood for an October 2012 Surprise to save his hopes for a second term. Maureen Dowd says out loud what we all knew the moment the movie’s release date was announced:
The White House is also counting on the Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal big-screen version of the killing of Bin Laden to counter Obama’s growing reputation as ineffectual. The Sony film by the Oscar-winning pair who made “The Hurt Locker” will no doubt reflect the president’s cool, gutsy decision against shaky odds. Just as Obamaland was hoping, the movie is scheduled to open on Oct. 12, 2012 — perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost to a campaign that has grown tougher.
The moviemakers are getting top-level access to the most classified mission in history from an administration that has tried to throw more people in jail for leaking classified information than the Bush administration.
It was clear that the White House had outsourced the job of manning up the president’s image to Hollywood when Boal got welcomed to the upper echelons of the White House and the Pentagon and showed up recently — to the surprise of some military officers — at a C.I.A. ceremony celebrating the hero Seals.

And then there is this: Sarah has a bus tour and now obama is going on one. Sarah has a movie and now obama is doing one. Somebody’s jealous (read that in a sing-songy, taunting voice).
Remember the prosecution of those SEAL’s who supposedly punched that detainee?
They initiated that legal action cuz the SEAL order to take out those skinnies who kidnapped those yachtsmen off of Somalia was done AGAINST Obama’s orders; the prosecution was PAY BACK.
So the SEALs aren’t huge fans of Obama, yet they’re the Prez’s best chance.

After the debacle of losing 22 Seals, several SF troops, and others onboard that Chinook, I don’t see how a movie about the bin Laden raid won’t recall to the mind of voters the recent tragedy, and thus provide little to no political benefit.
After today’s speech it is hard to see anything helping him. Even the hardcore leftist friends of mine on facebook are struggling today.
Same with some of my coworkers. We were eating lunch at Rafferty’s when they rebroadcast his speech and Erin (probably the biggest liberal I know) just sat there in stunned silence. When the speech was over, she looked over at me and told me that Obama will not win the Democratic nomination if he keeps it up.
