Palin Conquers the Storm
Human Events ^ | Tuesday August 9, 2011 | John Hayward

Sarah Palin Facebook page is a battleship from which many powerful broadsides have been launched. On Monday afternoon, she wrote one of her longer posts, called “Conquering the Storm,” to address the Obama Downgrade.

It’s a big piece, but well worth reading in full. Compare it to the weary talking-point retread our clueless President delivered in his statement on the same afternoon, and you can see why the markets were nose-diving even as Obama spoke. Palin wrote the speech he should have given, but is utterly incapable of conceiving.

As Palin points out, the S&P downgrade wasn’t a surprise to people who were paying attention. She claims no great powers of clairvoyance. She was just reading the statements pouring out of the credit agencies, which is hard to Democrats to do, since they immediately roll those statements into clubs for beating the Tea Party. She was also paying attention to the European horror show that Democrats work very hard at ignoring:

One doesn’t need a Harvard Law degree to figure this out! Just look across the pond at Europe. European nations with less debt and smaller deficits than ours and with real “austerity” plans in place to deal with them have had their ratings downgraded. By what magical thinking did we figure we could run up perpetual trillion dollar deficits and still somehow avoid the unforgiving mathematics of a downgrade? Nothing is ever “too big to fail.” And there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Didn’t we all learn that in our micro and macro econ classes? I did at the University of Idaho. How could Obama skip through Columbia and Harvard without learning that?

Palin was an early and perceptive critic of the QE2 currency manipulation program, dramatically outperforming all the high-level wizards of the Federal Reserve.

The phrase that will never be spoken:

“Sarah Palen is far smarter than Barack Obama.”

And yes, it is true.

Admit it, libs, and you’ll sleep better.

I was kind of thinking the same thing this author was as I read Sarah’s facebook post. Is Obama even capable of writing something like this?

ANY nominee other than Sarah Palin, is just unacceptable!!

The rest are all a joke!

Sarah Palin or Bust!!! She will run and will not let us down.

Those that think she would leave us with Perry, are not thinking highly enough of her!

“Sarah Palin is far smarter than Barack Obama.”

Certainly every bit of available evidence points to the truth of that.

In fact, we may be reaching the point where reasonable people would conclude that Joe Biden and Harry Reid are smarter than Barack Obama.

A very clear vision of what a Palin Presidency will look like. I have a question about the process of this. I know most have speech writers, etc. that assist a canditate in putting together their public announcements. While I understand something like this post is 100% pure Sarah, does that mean she actually sat down and wrote it all herself?

Like or dislike, SARAH PALIN is the only candidate who can unite the right under one banner, and get MILLIONS out in the streets working for her.

I don't see why that really matters. Reading Reagan's autobiography, he naturally had speechwriters in his presidency, but demanded that the ideas conformed to his beliefs. I see no problem with speechwriters as long as the content reflects the person. Are you saying this may not be the case?

-"While I understand something like this post is 100% pure Sarah, does that mean she actually sat down and wrote it all herself?"

The question is totally irrelevant. We are not electing a "speech writer". If she did write it, she get's a few 'extra' points. If not, who cares - she 'signed' it, and approved the message as her own.

I have to say, the fawning adulation of John Hayward aside, Palin’s commentary was right on target.

nope Obama wouldn't even think like this neither would 80% of those in Dc and that is why we are in the problems we are in.

This rising chorus of voices echoing Palin’s piece on the Obama Downgrade (OD) is the sound of a nation craving real leadership. They have looked for it in the Oval Office, and not found it. They have looked for it in the GOP leadership, and not found it. They have looked for it in the machine candidates of the GOP, the Democratic primary challengers, the third party threats, and it has turned up missing in action.

But in the voice of a frugal, honest hockey mom from a small town in Alaska, we recognize the sound of that leadership we so desperately need. And not because she is some alien superhuman commanding our obedience, but because she is an ordinary exceptional American, a wise elder sister, in touch with the truth about herself and about us, and willing to tell us that truth. That’s what real leaders do, and that’s the real reason everyone is listening to Sarah Palin.

Not at all. She is my choice for President. I was just asking about the process. I have no doubt she could do it all herself. Just wondered if she had “staff” available or just used “spell check”.

Here we go again.

Yet another Palin rant that contains serious, substantive policy analysis and commentary. WTF? She's not even supposed to be a credible or effective communicator. She's only in it for the fame and fortune...you know, the "Palin" brand.

Man, this is getting tiresome.

Judging by unseen1’s remark in post #16, she was on her own on this statement. But either way, it’s pure Sarah, and the best example of leadership we’ve seen from anyone. Oh, pundits have made their points, but pundits aren’t potential candidates for the most part. Nor do they occupy the national stage. This is an important piece, well timed and hits most, if not all, of the points.

It would neither surprise me to hear she had help nor that she wrote it all on her own. Given the staff she has, I'd be surprised if she didn't run drafts past at least some of them just to make sure she's coming across as intended.

In any event, it rings as "true" as being in her voice.
