A resident of Rosh Tzurim, a kibbutz in Israel's Gush Etzion bloc south of Jerusalem, stopped his car at a junction and exited the vehicle, momentarily leaving his five year old daughter inside.

While he was outside the vehicle a thief jumped into the vehicle and drove off with the girl inside.

The shocked father called security forces who rushed to the junction and issued an alert for the vehicle and girl.

According to one report, an off-duty Palestinian Authority policeman spotted the girl at the entrance to the village of Al Aroub and returned her to Israeli authorities at the junction.

The girl was reportedly in good condition. Security forces have mounted a manhunt for the thief and the car.

My son goes to school and summer camp in Rosh Tzurim, though he's too old to be friends with a five-year-old. But this hits close to home.

I wonder how they can describe El Aroub as a "village". It's pretty big, like a small city really, and it's a refugee camp.

If this part is true, props to the policeman: According to one report, an off-duty Palestinian Authority policeman spotted the girl at the entrance to the village of Al Aroub and returned her to Israeli authorities at the junction.

Many kudos to the Pali cop who brought this to a safe conclusion.

I agree.

I wouldn’t call it a “camp,” although that is the offical name.

All the buildings are permanent, pretty nice. The populations are not quite 10,000.

For those that don’t know, this “camp” is probably 1/2 hour or 45 minutes from the old city, maybe 15 minutes from Bethlehem.

Pretty anti-Jewish and situs of some minor conflicts.

They recently renovated one of the main mosques, and they have a stone madrassa that any yeshiva would love to own the like. Plenty of farm land, pasture land, and lots of businesses. But since it was established by Arabs fleeing Israel in 1948, they’re all “refugees” with ration cards and subsidies unless they decide to leave.

What does the word “car” mean in Romani? Hint: The opposite of “minja” and it’s not a hand.

And much gratitude. It´s weird to see this in Palestinians. I hope he´s not invited to an after hours necktie party. His society could use so many more like him.
