WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Tuesday he's naming Sen. Patty Murray to co-chair a powerful "super committee" charged with finding more than $1 trillion in deficit cuts this fall.

Murray will be joined by Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Max Baucus, D-Mont., on the panel, which was established last week by hard-fought legislation to increase the national debt.

I guess Inhofe, DeMint, and Coburn. They seem the best we have. Rubio maybe.

That’ll bring the IQ down substantially below the debt-as-percentage-of-GDP.

Until this year, it was DeMint, DeMint, and DeMint. Fortunately, we now have Rubio, Lee, Ron Johnson, and pretty good advocates in Toomey, Coburn (sometimes) and Portman. More on the way in 2012.

Murray, Kerry, and Baucus - now that is a scary triumvirate. These three people who have stood around with their hands in their pockets while unfathomable debt has been loaded onto our shoulders.

Anyone who voted against raising the limit will not be on the panel. So look to who voted to raise the limit (in the house e.g., Cantor and Ryan; Kyl in the Senate). Pick your poison: raise taxes or cut defense. Dems will cut nothing and go on a class jihad.

Unbelievable. I have heard that others in Congress have called her the stupidest person in Washington, and that’s saying something.

Was mental illness a Prerequisite for Harry?

Is Baucus going to have his dog sit on his lap during the meetings?

This is an embarassing trio that could not find real jobs outside of government.

So why would they EVER vote for less government?

Murray is up for election next year. This gives her free air time and makes it looks like she is doing something besides making methane in DC.

No one running for reelection in ‘12 will be on this committee. None of them would dare take the appointment.

No, Murray ran and was reelected in ‘10. There won’t be any Senators on this committee who are facing reelection in ‘12. It’s too potentially politically lethal.

So it should be DeMint, Rubio and Paul from the R side of the Senate. Legitimate positions on key committees concerned with the economy and fiscal policy, but not chairs so they can be themselves with the appearance of the potential to be moderated by the leadership.

The fact that Washington state continues to send that Teat Party doorknob Murray to the Senate makes it hard for me to deal with people here. Every stranger I see, I wonder if they are one of the mindless tools that vote for her. Sometimes, I see an Obama bumper sticker, and I don’t have to wonder.

On the positive side, I do get to smile and say, “Hey, how’s that Hopey-Changey stuff working for you now?” a lot.

I hope you’re right. Scott Brown would be a disaster. But I still think he’ll be on it. Time will tell.

Actually, she was up for reelection in 2008, if I remember correctly. So we are stuck with her for a few more years - until 2014.

By the time her current term is complete, she will have been “my senator” for close to 40% of my life! What a waste of time...very painful.
