Skip to comments.NY Times: A Test for Obama’s View of a One-Term Presidency

WASHINGTON It was a year and a half ago when President Obama told Diane Sawyer of ABC News in an interview that he would rather be a good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president.
Now, coming off one of his worst weeks since taking office, Mr. Obama is nearing a decision on whether he really meant that.
The Federal Reserves finding on Tuesday that there is little prospect for rapid economic growth over the next two years was the latest in a summer of bad economic news. One administration official called the atmosphere around the presidents economic team angry and morose.
On Tuesday afternoon, the White House announced that Mr. Obama would be taking an economic bus tour in the Midwest next week, with stops in Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota.
Though the trip is not a campaign event, it could help shape voters perceptions of whether Mr. Obama is more concerned about being remembered for that one good term or whether he wants another four years in the Oval Office no matter what.

He's not either. He's a horrendous and (hopefully) one-term occupant of the WH.
good mediocre one-term president

Well, technically, by his own criteria he could run again. He has been a horrible one term President. Ergo, he’s very much eligible for re-election!
He doesn’t even meet the standard for ‘mediocre’....................
Perhaps Ms. Sawyer should interview him again and ask him how he’ll ‘feel’ about being a genuinely AWFUL one-term president.
PS - That sign is just plain funny...
Yeah, I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote ‘mediocre’!!! It SHOULD be horrendous.
First, it is a campaign event. Everything this Commie does is a campaign event. Next, what one good term? His term so far has been disastrous and promises nothing better between now and election 2012. Finally, the "no matter what" statement is interesting, coming from a NY Slimes piece. It implies little belief that Obama has what it takes to turn anything around.
DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz:We own the economy - June 15, 2011
We're going to hang you, your commie boss, and all the dims with this Ms. Wasserman Schultz!
FUBO GTFO 2012 !
It’s NOT easy...you have to work hard at it..to drive from Illinois to Iowa to Minnesosat without stopping off in ...dare I say it..Wisconsin..
If Zero loses the election (and I obviously hope he does) then he’s the worst politician who’s ever lived. When you look at his natural coalition of welfare recipients, minorities, union members, limousine liberals, and indoctrinated young people and combine that with a media that’s breathtaking in its willingness to do anything it takes to elect RATs, and combine that with the advantages of money and incumbency - a loss in 2012 would be a truly epic fail.
Not true. He could:
1. Throw out the bans on offshore and deep water drilling.
2. Cut personal and corporate income taxes. (And please don't fall for the "we can't because of the deficit". Bulls$%t! After every major tax cut (Kennedy, Reagan, Bush), tax receipts increased.)
3. Decrease the permitting process for any project requiring a gov't permit to a max of 3 months.
4. Stand back and get the hell out of the way while the market works.
Are you down with OTP?
The “Angry & Morose Tour 2011” lol
Why the Dover AFB photo in the article? Why? How does it relate to the story? Shameless cretins.
Only if you're a stupid Dem. No, not hard at all. I-80, or I-88 west to I-80, will take you west into Iowa from Illinois (I live on I-88). Once at Des Moines (still on I-80), take I-35 north to Minnesota. As for Wisconsin, many of those union thugs who operated up there came from Illinois. I doubt they're too happy about him down here right now...
Did the New York Times buy Burger King or something? Because that one was a real Whopper®
They just assert it as if it were beyond question, and don't even bother to attempt to support the ridiculous statement. They don't even pretend to hide the lies anymore...
Of course Presidents always take bus tours that are not campaign events... How can you possibly question that, Comrade?
