cant union member request a refund of their portion of their dues going for this fiasco?
Yes, and no. Yes, in the sense that they can request a refund of the "official PAC monies" (which, out of the $700+/year dues I was paying in 2002, when I withdrew from the Wisconsin Teacher's Association, was about $17); no, in the sense that the "quiet political monies" (i.e. union dues used for "voter education materials" [carefully worded to maximize the attractiveness of liberal positions], "get out the vote efforts" [ditto], etc.), which estimates place between $200-$400 out of the $700+, won't be refunded.
The only way to keep all of the money out of union hands (at least, until Gov. Walker's God-send of a reform package--I left the public schools before that took effect, so I'm not sure how that plays out, now) is (was?) to file as a religious objector, and have all of your union dues diverted to a charity.

Whoops... correction: it was the Wisconsin Education Association (WEA) that I left. I mixed it up with the AFT, which was the union when I worked in Illinois. :)

WI pols can be recalled after one year in office. Sounds like the process of gathering petition signatures can't be started until then, so effectively it's a little longer.
The thugocrats' initial talk was getting Walker recalled early in 2012, the first chance he is eligible for a recall. They're backing off of this now, which bodes well for Walker.

Wisconsin needs to remain vigilant: Republicans now have 17 and the socialist enemy has 16. One squishy RINO is all it takes to stop the good that Walker is doing. I'm hoping next Tuesday will restore the initial advantage to the Republicans. Please donate to Steitz and Simac if you can.
One other benefit if we can knock off the two Dems next week is that we'll be likely trading marginal, moderate Republicans for much more conservative ones.

That poster screams: Look for the Union Label and buy elsewhere. I think I'll listen. I don't want to put Americans out of work, but I'm tired of watching these thugs wreck our country with their greed and hate.

Au contraire. All of these Republicans up for re-election yesteday were in iffy Districts. All were in districts that elected Obama in 2008 (except — perhaps — Alberta). Since Alberta Darling’s district combines several Assembly districts, some of her district went for Obama and a small part elected McCain!

This is why one must admire the left. They never give up! They never surrender! Their goals are clear and executed. In the words of Lenin "three steps forward two steps back." Many years ago they captured the education establishment, music, art, motion pictures, the news media, local government. All prestigious foundations fell under their control allowing them to distribute honors.
They formed a coalition of blacks, aliens, homosexuals, asiatics, non-christians which is within millimeters of establishing total control of all aspects of our daily lives right down to what people eat. They have captured the courts, the congress and the executive and are daily placing their members in positions of authority. The coalition is seizing the economy for the exclusive benefit of its members. They have passed laws preventing discussion of their misrule: i.e. "Hate Crime" laws, laws taking control of access to private property and employment. They are even gaining control of the decision to allow the innocent to live or die.
They are not afraid to beat the Holy H*ll out of any potential opposition. They can call forth a mob in seconds and with one word send the mob home.
It does not look good for our side. The conservative has produced no person or group of persons effective against the abovementioned.

I wonder when the DNC will tell labor to stop in Wisconsin because they are embarassing themselves and putting the 2012 election in Jeopardy. Numbers are right for the GOP to take Wisconsin in the presidential race. Adding a recall election for the Governor will not help Obama.

Sounds like Tate is tossing some meat scraps to demoralized Dems. I think it will be hard for this movement to gather steam.
Who schedules when a recall election will be held? Doesn’t it have to meet the approval of the legislature or governor?

On August 16 th by recalling the two Dem Senators, the people of Wisconsin can send a message to all the OUTSIDE forces trying a coup d'état to pack it up and go home.

Im sure glad I dont have to foot the bill for this ridiculous farce.Actually, I would bet a large sum of my own money we already have.
Stimulus money was basically tossed around like candy, of course to the right people
Massive amounts went to all types of public sector unions in all 50 states.
