Apparently boosting the immune system is key to treating cancer successfully. For whatever reason some people are born without sufficient immunity to ward off disease.
What they did is not "boosting the immune system." It's reengineering the immune system to behave in a way it is constitutively unable to behave. Besides, no one is born with immunity to anything. The immunity must be acquired by the immune system interacting with the environment. If it's successful, you live. If not, you die or are grievously impaired. Breastfeeding offers the newborn immune factors produced by the mother. Vaccination offers the newborn protecting by giving his immune system a chance to form antibodies against pathogens without having to deal directly with the fully virulent form.

That’s one reason why all these “Anti-bacterial” soaps/foams are a bad idea.
Sure, it kills 99.9% of the germs on your hands — but how else do you build up an immunity to anything? And - the .1% that it doesn’t kill, then spreads, and before you know it, that 99.9% is 95% - then 90% - then eventually, it’s “Kills .1% of germs!”.

(I sure hope there is a New Morning in America soon. All this hope and change is leaving me depressed)
