Kinda strange. One of the Ranger missions is to be a rapid-react force in support of Special Operations missions and operators like the SEALs. The initial report indicated the opposite - that the SEALs were re-inforcing the Rangers. Certainly both are possible, but sending a half-platoon of SEALs after an undislosed number of US Rangers seems like a misuse of the asset... or a very desperate situation.
I can tell you too everybody wants a piece of the action. That could be why those guys were there too.
