I am constantly amazed that people think that because a lot of Israelis have firearms, they have as much in the way of firearms freedom as we do. The truth is quite different - the government does allow many people to have guns, but it is definitely a privilege and a tightly-regulated one at that. This story shows the truth of this - the guy’s body was barely cold and the authorities were already coming around to collect his guns. FYI, owning 1 rifle and 1 handgun are the limit, and there’s no reloading allowed.
I would bet that one day after any real peace was declared, that all guns would be rounded up. Of course there never will be any real peace until the Moschiach shows up, but that’s a different matter altogether.
