A suspected looter in this weeks riots and his mother are being thrown out of their council home.
In the first case of its kind, Daniel Sartain-Clarke, 18, and his mother have been served with an eviction notice as council bosses seek to turf them out of their £225,000 taxpayer-subsidised flat.
Sartain-Clarke is charged with violent disorder and attempting to steal electronic goods from the Currys store at Clapham Junction, South London, on Monday night.

Guess the old adage “don’t sh*t where you’re going to sleep” takes on a whole new meaning?
I’ll bet this is going to free up a lot of apartm...er...flats.
Excellent! Bring this to the US. No Food Stamps, SSI, WIC, whatever, if you are Illegally in this country, test positive for drugs, or are a repeat offender (career criminal - give some doubt to people who make honest mistakes).
They have been buying votes and power since Johnson's Great Society mistake. And the collective Right let them do it. Both sides are guilty!
I like it! We need to do this here.
She will hire a good solicitor and it will be overturned.
That's nearly $275,000 in US dollars. Think about that.
"Need any help with the apartment??"
The posters that said this should be done here are exactly right. Sadly with the dem party around they would fight tooth and nail to keep their leeches on the voter rolls.
The majority of the looters/rioters were um minorities, I have a feeling that only whites will be evicted.
NOT GUILTY, GUILTY, TBD!
Nobody in the whole (fatherless) family seems to resemble each other or share the same surname.
I hope you aren't a Perry supporter. He won't even "punish" (his term) them by making them pay the same for college as other Americans.
Well, it’s a start....hopefully, the bleeding hearts don’t have nervous breakdowns over the “tragedy of eviction of the poor” to benefit the rich capitalist pigs.
I hope someone watches who is getting evicted and who isn't.
....or don’t make their children go to school, allow their children to vandalize the areas, damage cars, scam the food stamp program, refuse to do menial work around their free homes, would also help.
More room for all the Muslims coming into the country.
Maybe these “good kids” with “bright futures” should have thought that there might be some consequences for their criminal behavior. Maybe being moved to a meager 100K pound flat would be punishment enough. But then where will they put their looted flat screen TVs? I love the comment how if you evict them, that they’ll HAVE to turn to crime. Uh, they were living in a very expensive “free” apartment and they STILL turned to crime. Completely empty threat.
Watch out what you wish for. Anyone can be accused of a crime. There's a concept here known as due process, and you can't deprive someone of home and property without it. One of the Dem's favorite dirty tricks is to accuse their opponents of crimes, smear them in the press, them quietly drop the charges later. If they could get you thrown out in the street, too, I'm sure they'd do it.
Understand, I'm not being soft on crime and I don't like welfare sponges. If this yob did the crime, prosecute and jail him for it. If his mom broke the law, do the same to her. Throw them in jail, not out on the street...
I look forward to seeing these idiots rot in the streets, where they belong. Let the little miscreants lose what enabled them to sit idle the entire time anyway, right? They deserve to be stripped of their homes since they have also made Britain look weak in the face of the world and even jeapordized the London Olympics in 2012.
It would sure be nice if the English would translate their news articles for us Americans. One day I will travel to London to learn English. It would be nice to hear it spoken properly.
For now, good on ‘em for giving those bums the boot!
They’re lucky the Queen is merciful. At one point in Britain’s history the kid would have been hung as a thief...
Funny how these libs always pose with the hollow, needy look. Sad, drawn faces for the camera!
This is the whole problem. Kings and Queens are supposed to instill a sense of fear and respect in their subjects. That ain't a happenin' these days.
I would be impressed except I know they will just go one town over and get housing lickity split.
They don’t appear to live in an “estate” but, rather, a very fashionable condo apartment that the government either owns or rents from the owner. It appears they had it made, but were such lowlifes, they just couldn’t resist a life of petty crime.
A friend of mine, originally from Scotland, tells me that these English “welfare” folks also get a gov’t paid vacation to Florida every once in awhile....no kidding!
I see where you’re coming from, but these days welfare is being used as an enabling springboard for criminals to live a life of self indulgence and crime, while living off of the taxpayers they terrorize. Obviously there is need for reform and while you worry about liberals using this as a means to confiscate property, this is about WELFARE, not personal property being yanked. These looters were caught and convicted, not just accused. They have been living off of the taxpayer and they have destroyed people’s livlihoods and have also destroyed the job opportunities that might have sprung up.
Many people on welfare often do not (or refuse) to understand the value that people place on their businesses and their livlihoods, it’s often just one big joke to them. Long term recipients are quite frankly the least appreciative of the fact that other people take pride in making a living and take pride in getting up before noon each day. If welfare recipients have their beenfits stripped form them if they commit a crime, or their families suffer along with them, you will see a HUGE drop in criminal activity among welfare recipients.
Thye have no business living in such nice places; it’s not their right to live in such swell places while honest workers sweat to afford even the smallest place ot live safely in.
The Queen has no power anymore, she is purely ornamental.
Yeah, while sitting in a room with hard wood floors, leather couches and all the enmities to match.
I believe she is still allowed to spank miscreants.
Seeing is believing. Sounds like a little photo-op for the press and then back to business as usual. I can’t see the socialist social workers union bureaucrats allowing a poor misunderstood woman being tossed starving and nearly naked to the wolves in the streets. Not going to happen.
“It would sure be nice if the English would translate their news articles for us Americans.”
Maybe this will help:
Council home = Public housing (Much more prevalent in the UK than US)
Council boss/leader = Public housing administrator
Flat = Apartment
Magistrate = Judge
“They have been buying votes and power since Johnson’s Great Society mistake...”
Generally, I don’t debate politics with liberals. It’s not because I can’t articulate my views as well as defend them. Usually, it’s just a waste of time.
But several years ago, I said to a white liberal “You know, many of you have no real interest in solving poverty, reducing single-mother pregnancies, etc. If you did, you’d have no one who’d vote Democrat. You essentially provide programs that really don’t give anyone a helping hand up. You develop and maintain prgrams that keep classes of people dependent on you.”
The guy looked at me like I was on mushrooms and after a minute said “Well, you may have something there”.
I doubt I converted him but hopefully, I gave him some food for thought.
Thanks. That clears up the article. Hey, there are a few other English words that are confusing. What’s a bonnet and an boot?
These looters were caught and convicted, not just accused.
If that's the case, then the Council has every right to evict, and I agree they should. Conviction of a felony can cause cause the loss of many rights and privileges, and free housing is probably one of them.
However, the riot was only last week, how could there have been a trial and conviction (due process)? Furthermore, the article states that the youth was a "suspected" agitator and thief, not a "convicted" one.
Gov't should not be in the housing business, but since they are, they should follow the law and finish the paperwork before they boot tenants out.
Well, taxpayer subsidized housing isn’t the same as private property and as for him standing accused, he was apparently videotaped. Either way, this to me is a good idea and a perfect way to start taking a tough love stance.
After the LA riots, many store chose not to re open in those neighborhoods. Then there were complaints that “the community had to go to far for groceries”... Irony that you can choke on....
Theyre lucky the Queen is merciful. At one point in Britains history the kid would have been hung as a thief...
When Queen Besse 1 was in charge, Tyburn hill was bussy and the tower was crowded, but drawing and quartering might be a little over the line, perhaps sending them to the colonies like Rawleys land or Botany Bay would be a acceptable solution aaahh, I forgot, that was then and now is now what to do
Whats a bonnet and an boot?
Bonnet is Hood and boot is trunk
My goodness, now they'll have to find some private person's flat, break in and squat while he is on vacation. The authorities will allow them to stay there.
Most bemusing comment at the site: "What about their human rights?"
they looted and pillaged and burned them to the ground sir!
