In her auto/bio, Shirley Temple wrote that, when she was a child star, mogul George Jessel exposed himself to her......getting a cheap thrill at her expense.

In 1934, Jessel married silent movie star Norma Talmadge who was married at the time that they started their affair. After their divorce in 1939, he broke into her house with a pistol and fired shots at her current lover.

Jessel was acclaimed and lionized by Hollywood---producing movies, and getting all manner of top jobs.

He was considered a humanitarian----and was active in the Civil Rights movement.

In 1969 even the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored him....the pedophile was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, a Special Academy Award.

Reading this I was immediately reminded of Puzo's novel The Godfather and the character of the "Hollywood bigshot" Jack Woltz. There's an episode in the book that was heavily edited for the screen where Tom Hagen, waiting to meet Woltz, witnesses a mother prostituting her young daughter to the producer. I wish I could cut and pace an excerpt as it's a shocking scene.

I always assumed Puzo included it because it represented reality in Hollywood.

A key part in the interviews is when Feldman’s long-time manager is asked about Feldman’s allegation as to what contributed to the death of Corey Haim, and the manager, Snyder, does not confront the question directly but deflects it by pointing the blame to over-bearing parents.

I am sure over-bearing parents are part of the problem, but, in the interview at least, the manager, Snyder, seems to not want to address the pedophilia claims of Feldman.

Does he know more than he is saying? Most likely.

STILL CATERING TO KIDS After he left Disney, Eisner's investment firm, The Tornante Company, launched a studio, Vuguru, that will produce and distribute videos for cell phones. Eisner has acquired the rights to the internet series SamHas7Friends. The first series produced by Vuguru is Prom Queen, created by Big Fantastic (the same team behind SamHas7Friends), which launched on April 1, 2007. The second series produced by Eisner and Vuguru is The All-for-nots

In October 2007, Eisner, through his Tornante Company investment firm, partnered with Madison Dearborn Partners in the acquisition of Topps Company, the bubble-gum and collectibles firm. He produced a mockumentary style show about his takeover of the Topps Company, called "Back on Topps."

The College of Education at California State University Northridge is named in his honor.

Heh.. I remember seeing Georgie Jessel on TV from time to time back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. I always took him for a comedy actor, not a movie mogul. I just read his Wiki bio and was interested to find out he basically gave Judy Garland her stage name.
