“The attacks dogs exhibit a level of nastiness I’ve never seen in Palin herself.”

I’ve noticed this too ... thanks for putting it into words.

She’s still my favorite though I don’t know if she can win. Before I get attacked for that, let me assure you that I am not some “bot” repeating that mantra. I truly feel that. Regardless, I do donate cash to SarahPAC when idiots post ridiculous comments about her on Facebook :-) ... that shut them up! I credit her for waking people up in this country.

My feelings on Perry are :

1> He’s only going to help, not hurt, come 2012.

2> I could see myself voting for him w/o having to put Palin on the ticket a la McCain in 2008.

I need a LOT more information on Perry though. I find the whole “former Democrat” argument ridiculous given Reagan’s history. I find the illegal immigration arguments extremely valid. I don’t pay much attention to the Trans-Texas Corridor and Guardisil (spelling probably wrong) issues as they are more state oriented ... at this time anyway.

As for Palin ... I hope she announces one way or another soon :-). I’ve had a gut feeling that she’d be linked to some kind of Perry announcement. It’s nothing more than that though.

As for the “He sounds like Bush” argument ... a simple “Mr. President, you and your party have been campaigning against Bush for over a decade ... get over it.” will put that argument to rest. A good comparison of Carter to Obama would shut them up (notice how the tone of Obama’s recent speeches sound eerily like the infamous “malaise” speech).

To drive them crazier, he should embrace some of the good Bush did and emphasize that he’ll contrast himself from Bush in terms of spending. All in all, I doubt his Texas mannerisms will be a problem. They’ll try that at first, but it will fail immediately.

“I am on record here, fwiw, that she will endorse Perry.”

I think you are probably correct.

“doodie” — lol.

That’s something you didn’t have to worry about with typewriters.

I have to agree, I like (what) she says but can’t listen to her for long.

I think that is one reason Hillary lost to BO. Her voice got screechy when she made important points. So does Palin.

Heard her last night with Hannity and she makes such long sentences, it is hard to follow her point.

[Man... this guy has a lot of George Bush mannerisms. And it sounds like the same speech writer as well...]

And it’s so much better than the Marxist propaganda coming from the current administration.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t sound just like GWB (and have all the same mannerisms). That is what people across the country will hear (and see).

Highlights from his speech (live blogg)

Rick Perry Announces his Candidacy for President and His Plan to Put America Back to Work
Print
Posted on August 13th, 2011

Live from the RedState Gathering in South Carolina, Texas Governor Rick Perry announces his candidacy for President of the United States and his plan to put America back to work.

1:30 – Governor Perry: As President, “I will work every day to make Washington, D.C. as inconsequential in your lives as I can.”

1:28 – “We will repeal this President’s one size fits all Government healthcare plan.”

1:25 – “I declare for you today that I’m a candidate for President of the United States.” The crowd chants “Pery, Perry, Perry!” at the top of their lungs.

1:23 – “Revitalizing the economy is our country’s most urgent need. Stopping the generational theft posed by record debt is our long-term mission.”

1:22 – “America is not broken, Washington DC is broken.”

1:20 – “It’s time to get America working again. It’s time to give a pink slip to the current residents of the White House.” The crowd goes wild.

1:19 – “We don’t need a President who apologizes for America.”

1:17 – “Our President has insulted our friends.” Including Israel, our greatest friend in the Middle East.

1:14 – The crowd goes nuts as the Governor talks about the importance of turning around the rising unemployment rate and cutting the excessive spending in Washington.

1:11 – “Not everyone values life like we do in America.”

1:10 – “At age 8, I was blessed to meet my future wife, Anita Thigpen, at a piano recital. We had our first date eight years later. And she finally agreed to marry me 16 years after that I’m persistent.”

1:09 – “I am also the product of a place called Paint Creek, a community too small to be called a town along the rolling plains of West Texas.”

1:07 – Governor Perry asks for a moment of silence to honor the members of our Armed Forces who bravely put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms.

1:05 – With a standing ovation and raucous applause, Governor Perry enters the room.

1:00pm Eastern – About 700 conservative activists are crammed into a ballroom and overflow space at the Francis Marion hotel in Charleston, South Carolina awaiting Texas Governor Rick Perry.

My hope is that we can get more TP members in the House and possibly take over the Senate too.

This is THE NUMBER ONE TASK for conservatives in the upcoming election. As long as the Tea Party element in the GOP continues to gain power, we'll be able to influence events. My motto: VOTE HOBBIT!

There simply is no perfect candidate out there. Perry has his warts, but with a Tea Party Congress he can be made to do the right thing. I think that's our best bet to influence events. The real action isn't so much at the federal level anymore; it's at the local school board elections, the state legislatures, and lastly, the federal Congress. Taking these local offices is as important as the presidency now.

I can live with a Perry administration if we have a Tea Party Congress

Simple: we’re the only state to cut spending since WWII. Actual, real cuts to total spending.

“No more mister nice guy trying to prove he’s a statesman.

Think he’s a fighter!!!! That’s what we need to defeat Obama.”

Agreed, I've been watching Perry for some months and like what I see. He is not “perfect” but he has the credentials, backbone and political instincts to play in the big leagues (IMHO).

Probably the biggest endorsement is from my Texas brother and his wife who are dyed in the wool Democrats. They are fed up with “No-bama” (their words) and, unbelievable, will consider voting a Republican, especially if that R happens to have Perry attached to the (R).

I agree, it should be interesting to see how he wears. Looks like he’ll have the spotlight to himself for a few weeks, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can go from flavor of the week to flavor of the year. (My guess is he’ll have his day and fade.)

Yep.....but it won’t work. Even some Democrats I know would take Bush over Obama now. ;-)

Right. To say “CAIR Supports him” is as inaccurate as saying “Republicans are Racist” simply because a handful of them across the country might actually be.
