Agree, just don’t think Romney can beat Obama. He tries to be too nice. We need a street fighter this time.
I love Sarah Palin but too many women don’t like her and won’t vote because of that dislike.(jealousy, IMHO) I think she could work well in a Perry administration. Sarah is a team player.
They crucified the only perfect Man who walked this earth. I may not agree with all of his positions but sure as the sun rises, like what I heard today from him.
No more mister nice guy trying to prove he’s a statesman.
Think he’s a fighter!!!! That’s what we need to defeat Obama.
“Just last night a yet unannounced candidate was talking about eliminating the Department of Education and realigning the role of government with the Constitution.”
Who? This is my biggest pet peeve. WTH good is the Dept. of Education anyway? Don’t all the states have their own Education departments, anyway? What a colossal waste of money.
I don’t trust presidential campaign pledges and explanations. I go on records over the years—and his stinks on illefal immigration.
Needs to pick Rubio. Talk about liberal heads exploding.
I don’t trust presidential campaign pledges and explanations. I go on records over the years—and his stinks on illegal immigration.
I heard he breaths air JUST LIKE HITLER DID!
I thought his speech was great! I agreed with every word.
Reagan did not support amnesty though he did compromise with the dems on it...providing they would SECURE the border, which of course they promptly failed to live up to their end of the bargain (surprise)
The bill was called the Simpson-Mazzoli Act
Perry is AMAZING!
I just saw our next president!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think CAIR "supports" Gov. Perry. CAIR was just acknowledging that a whole bunch of Muslims in Texas support him. I gather some of them attended Perry's National Prayer Meeting last week.... So CAIR had some 'splaining to do.
Probably CAIR regards these Texas Muslims as seriously undermining its policy agenda....
Which is good news for the rest of us; i.e., that not all Muslims living in the great State of Texas are fanatical jihadists.
I watched the speech on MSNBC (yeah, I know).
As soon as it was finished the Studio Reporter (Not a pundit) started ATTACKING PERRY, saying he has the 47th-ranked schools, Texas leeaks the most dangerous chemicals in to the environment, blah, blah, blah.
Like I said, this wasn’t a pundit, it was the MSNBC HOST. They threw anyway any pretense of not being biased, long ago.
Republicans should start demanding equal time on NBC for the non-stop 24/7 Democrat campaign commercial on MSNBC.
Fox at least TELLS YOU what is opinion, and what is news. MSNBC disguises electioneering as news.
If that happens, FR will go into full meltdown mold, and Palinite heads will be exploding. Personally, I think Sarah is just in it for the money. Think about it, if she trully had higher politcal aspirations, I don't think she would have bolted the AK guvship for payola.
It seems all her actions are more strategic toward making money than politcal aspirations. It is easier to be a rock star than be president
A little foggy in keeping up with the news but what did our dear leader do? I commend Rick Perry for doing this.
What about it?
It will be interesting to see how Perry does these next few weeks. I’m curious to see how much he’s upped his game. Observing him all these years in Texas, he has tended to wear thin pretty quickly. But he’s animated and scrappy and will very likely look good next to damp squibs like Romney/Pawlenty and such.
Personally, I don’t consider him a total ‘RINO’ as some others do. Yet, after the experiences with that idiotic Trans-Texas Corridor and his rather two-faced approach to the illegals problem, I really can’t totally place my ‘trust’ in him. I’m just grown so innately wary, having been burned so many times by GOP Establishment types.
Of course, the dirty little non-secret is that Obama is far from bright. I cannot wit for when Perry's reported poor grades are brought up, that he declares that the people want to see the pResident's transcripts
**He sounds just like George Bush**
Correction. He and George Bush sound like everybody else in West Texas. There are plenty more who sound like they do.
Yes Perry is good looking enough and in every presidential election the better looking candidate is elected POTUS.
Well do you expect his to sound like he is from NJ. Get a grip. He speaks much better than Bush.
Agreed. Sums up my position as well.
“No President will fix this mess. But maybe he (or she) can at least slow down the onslaught.”
Perhaps we can at least have someone - anyone - who won’t actively TRY to screw things up!
I still don’t know that much about Perry. I do know that he signed an executive order that would force all 6th grade girls in Texas to receive a vaccination for a STD. That was a bad move and a blatant violation of personal liberties.
Right on. And I may as well point out another problem with Palin here - and that is the tone of her voice. I have not heard her since Wisconsin, but shrieking is a turn off to a lot of us - regardless of the content.
While MY family breathed in gas thanks to islam’s final option which they gave to hitler. GFYS.
It’s also BS, in fact CAIR is ticked off at him for not inviting Mohammedans to some prayer thing in Houston.
How was the speech? I wonder if it’s on YouTube
Perry/Rubio has the potential to change the national electorate dynamic for years. Most hispanics are hard working folks who don’t want to be dependent or beholden to anybody. Face it, with Ob as the dem, he is going to get 90% of the black vote again. If Perry/Rubio can bring over a significant number of hispanics, game over.
He does need to pick someone with foreign policy cred.
Maybe someone who is not even up on the stage yet.
“I will work every day to make sure Washington DC is inconsequential to your lives”
I applauded. That line will give the liberal MEdia, the progressive left, and the professional poverty pimps, the buckwheats.
Sarah will campaign for Perry. She will not run against him.
She will make an excellent addition to his cabinet and will keep the TP focused on making sure the Perry administration hears them and works with them.
I’m typing this on an iPhone 3Gs, and it loves to autocorrect some words it does not recognize if I’m not careful. When I typed “doofus”, it corrected it to “doodie”, which I did not catch. Sorry.
Plain talk and Perry has a lot of cattle under his hat. Perry/Rubio -— if Palin doesn’t run.
My take as well.
Well, Obama messed with Texas through the EPA.
So, here is the payback
We keep telling people, don’t mess with Texas....
We aren’t kidding. It won’t go well for you.
Rick Perry is the Ronald Reagan of 2012. Folks, you have just listened to our next President.
There is an “opt out” for that vaccine order. Perry is no fool.
I very much like the CAN-DO attitude that he projects.
He makes the point that we are AMERICANS and we CAN and WILL fix these problems. I like that. I like his firm confidence. We need that.
So you have noticed the attacks, too. Thought I was the only one who noticed. What a relief.
“The attacks dogs exhibit a level of nastiness Ive never seen in Palin herself.”
I’ve noticed this too ... thanks for putting it into words.
She’s still my favorite though I don’t know if she can win. Before I get attacked for that, let me assure you that I am not some “bot” repeating that mantra. I truly feel that. Regardless, I do donate cash to SarahPAC when idiots post ridiculous comments about her on Facebook :-) ... that shut them up! I credit her for waking people up in this country.
My feelings on Perry are :
1> He’s only going to help, not hurt, come 2012.
2> I could see myself voting for him w/o having to put Palin on the ticket a la McCain in 2008.
I need a LOT more information on Perry though. I find the whole “former Democrat” argument ridiculous given Reagan’s history. I find the illegal immigration arguments extremely valid. I don’t pay much attention to the Trans-Texas Corridor and Guardisil (spelling probably wrong) issues as they are more state oriented ... at this time anyway.
As for Palin ... I hope she announces one way or another soon :-). I’ve had a gut feeling that she’d be linked to some kind of Perry announcement. It’s nothing more than that though.
As for the “He sounds like Bush” argument ... a simple “Mr. President, you and your party have been campaigning against Bush for over a decade ... get over it.” will put that argument to rest. A good comparison of Carter to Obama would shut them up (notice how the tone of Obama’s recent speeches sound eerily like the infamous “malaise” speech).
To drive them crazier, he should embrace some of the good Bush did and emphasize that he’ll contrast himself from Bush in terms of spending. All in all, I doubt his Texas mannerisms will be a problem. They’ll try that at first, but it will fail immediately.
he messed with Texas again by closing Nasa!
It’s payback time, Texas style!
“I am on record here, fwiw, that she will endorse Perry.”
I think you are probably correct.
watch the US stock market on Monday
Maybe some confidence in the future will start to creep back
Perry neeeds to take a little less credit for “we” created jobs to “we” made it possible for many hardworking American businesss owners to create jobs
“doodie” — lol.
That’s something you didn’t have to worry about with typewriters.
I have to agree, I like (what) she says but can’t listen to her for long.
I think that is one reason Hillary lost to BO. Her voice got screechy when she made important points. So does Palin.
Heard her last night with Hannity and she makes such long sentences, it is hard to follow her point.
[Man... this guy has a lot of George Bush mannerisms. And it sounds like the same speech writer as well...]
And it’s so much better than the Marxist propaganda coming from the current administration.
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t sound just like GWB (and have all the same mannerisms). That is what people across the country will hear (and see).

Rick Perry Announces his Candidacy for President and His Plan to Put America Back to Work
Posted on August 13th, 2011
Live from the RedState Gathering in South Carolina, Texas Governor Rick Perry announces his candidacy for President of the United States and his plan to put America back to work.
1:30 â Governor Perry: As President, “I will work every day to make Washington, D.C. as inconsequential in your lives as I can.”
1:28 â “We will repeal this Presidentâs one size fits all Government healthcare plan.”
1:25 â “I declare for you today that I’m a candidate for President of the United States.” The crowd chants “Pery, Perry, Perry!” at the top of their lungs.
1:23 â “Revitalizing the economy is our country’s most urgent need. Stopping the generational theft posed by record debt is our long-term mission.”
1:22 â “America is not broken, Washington DC is broken.”
1:20 â “It’s time to get America working again. It’s time to give a pink slip to the current residents of the White House.” The crowd goes wild.
1:19 â “We don’t need a President who apologizes for America.”
1:17 â “Our President has insulted our friends.” Including Israel, our greatest friend in the Middle East.
1:14 â The crowd goes nuts as the Governor talks about the importance of turning around the rising unemployment rate and cutting the excessive spending in Washington.
1:11 â “Not everyone values life like we do in America.”
1:10 â “At age 8, I was blessed to meet my future wife, Anita Thigpen, at a piano recital. We had our first date eight years later. And she finally agreed to marry me 16 years after that Iâm persistent.”
1:09 â “I am also the product of a place called Paint Creek, a community too small to be called a town along the rolling plains of West Texas.”
1:07 â Governor Perry asks for a moment of silence to honor the members of our Armed Forces who bravely put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms.
1:05 â With a standing ovation and raucous applause, Governor Perry enters the room.
1:00pm Eastern â About 700 conservative activists are crammed into a ballroom and overflow space at the Francis Marion hotel in Charleston, South Carolina awaiting Texas Governor Rick Perry.
This is THE NUMBER ONE TASK for conservatives in the upcoming election. As long as the Tea Party element in the GOP continues to gain power, we'll be able to influence events. My motto: VOTE HOBBIT!
There simply is no perfect candidate out there. Perry has his warts, but with a Tea Party Congress he can be made to do the right thing. I think that's our best bet to influence events. The real action isn't so much at the federal level anymore; it's at the local school board elections, the state legislatures, and lastly, the federal Congress. Taking these local offices is as important as the presidency now.
I can live with a Perry administration if we have a Tea Party Congress
