Anger and frustration from dozens of Clayton County parents who say their children are going hungry after their food stamps were suddenly cut off.
State officials admit that something went wrong down in Clayton County at the office that administers food stamps and Medicaid but they're still not sure what.
Parents say they can't buy food without those food stamps.

Perhaps they should have, oh I don’t know...stocked up a little.
Do it. Shut off the food stamps. Great idea.
Maybe if they can’t feed their kids with out the rest of us paying for the food; #1 They shouldn’t have any more kids. #2 Perhaps they should put them up for adoption.
You think? Maybe like the Rodney King riots uh? Do you remember the Watts riots? I do!
Maybe they should sneak across the border to Mexico and get the Mexican Government to feed them. Oh wait that’s not how it works is it.
I bet they all have cable TV, Internet and Cell phones, and the parents spend money on cigarettes.
I’ve seen enough of the lifestyle of people who cry that they can’t feed their children. Entertainment centers with flatscreen tv and full cable, blackberries and iphones and shiny cars and everything else. I even had a family member, years ago, crying about “can’t feed the baby.” Lived in a gated community with tennis court, fridge full of beer, electronic gadgets all over the house but can’t feed the baby. Yeah, don’t get me started with these people.
Lay off the crack for a week and buy some $1 specials at McDonalds.
Wonder if we can spin this as “Obama’s stash has dried up?” /s
I though ‘Bammy’ said that having a big screen tv, cable and a cell phone are rights?
I thought ‘Bammy’ said that having a big screen tv, cable and a cell phone are rights?
There was a time in the early 70s when I didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. My two kids didn't go hungry. Freeloaders whine about the nanny state. PARENTS find a way to keep their children fed. What are these freeloaders going to do when the depression finally hits?
Maybe they should quit buying pop, candy, birthday cakes, expensive steaks, potato chips by the load, and get lunch meat, chicken etc.
The entitled are getting on my last nerve. I had a woman hand me her card saying she was sorry it was broken in half because it is 7 years old. She had 3 children and another on the way. I’m tired of it.
Maybe the husband should get a job. Wait...what husband?
Now, between federal, state, and local taxes and mandatory programs, the average American pays nearly four months wages per year.
Most of them probably already have jobs - - making license plates.
Real welfare recipient quote;
“My husband got his project cut off two weeks ago and I havent had any relief since.”
“Terry Clark says she stood in line for more than six hours at Clayton County’s Human Services Office because food stamp help for her six children unexpectedly ended.”
For some reason, I have a feeling she has never even spent 6 hours looking for a job.
I agree completely. Most often when I look at what people are buying with their food stamps, they are purchasing things like snack foods, sodas and "juice drinks," sugary cereals, and convenience foods.
They would be much better served by purchasing staples: rice, potatoes, beans, less expensive cuts of meat, flour, corn meal, oatmeal, fruits and vegetables, and so forth.
Of course, that would entail actually cooking food on occasion.
It would not hurt for food stamp recipients to have to learn to get the most food for amount of money provided, and to learn how to properly prepare the food.
Yes wait until about 60 days without food stamps. The inner cities will be on fire. If you live in the burbs make sure you have weapons and the attitude to use them. At some point its going to be danged unpleasant.
I'm surprised the site seems unmoderated
I agree with you too.
It has gotten so out of hand that it is going to take a major overhaul to change it. Illegals use stamps regularly for the food and buy all the other stuff with the 50s and 100s they pull out of their wallets.
I’m so tired of the whole thing.
Or perhaps they could have:
I think it defies the Laws of Physics to be a Prepper and a Taker at the same time.
Parents can’t buy alcohol and cigarettes without those food stamps to barter.. there fixed it.
A priceless quote.

Remeber couple years ago was laid off and trying to stretch
Waiting in line with couple cans of spaghetti on sale
Person in line (Amish) had whole cart of chips, dips, pretzels, soda - paid for with Food stamnps
Followed out to parking lot to see what kind of car drove
Nice new Accura.....
Must be in wrong racket working for living.....
We should go back to giving the welfare deadbeats government cheese and bags of beans. Now they want their steak and lobster. (Oh, sorry, that’s Moochelle.)
Okay, I’m not saying these are the people. But I do know some (very few) people who are employed and, for whatever reason, qualify for this help. They didn’t plan it and it shames them to take it...and they get the very most bang for their buck.
I know the other things are right. I just didn’t want to lump everyone in together with the .10% that are genuine.
I will grant you that the 0.10% you stated is low, and that there are people who truly need assistance. I understand your perspective and don't disagree with it. (I believe private charities can help the destitute better than the gov't, but that is a different topic on a different thread.)
People living on the "edge" either barely eeking out a living or requiring assistance don't initially have the capacity to think more than a few days or weeks down the line. Many have to learn the lesson the hard way.
You know I do think the day the free food, lodging, and money benefits for their children stop is the day many of those children will be abandoned. Not all but many will be.
A riot is lurking in our (everyones) future.
Certainly families that dependent on this aid ought to get it in a timely manner, just like people who toil for their pay need to get paid on time. But they also should be prioritizing their expenditure. It is unacceptable for people who depend on the government for food and healthcare to have cable TV or expensive phones and cars.
Years ago we used to live in the DC area and I remember our visits to a discount grocery store. We used to shop frugally; and guess what, we’d see people in the checkout line with carts full of expensive prepared food, steaks etc. I’d marvel at how they could afford that, and then they’d pull out the food stamps which used to be like paper checks those days. I just couldn’t believe how our government could be so out of touch with the reality that some people are here to scam us taxpayers.
What a bunch of nasty, foul comments. Looks like the taxpayers are ready for a revolt of their own!
That way the people who are going hungry get food, the government saves money, and we all see who is feeding at the State teet!
The State is $20 Billion in the hole and they advertise for new recipients all the time.
I hear their ads on the Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin shows. I guess they don't understand the audience they are reaching. Of course they use Children in the ads and go on and on about eating healthy. What a joke.
What's genuine mean in this context? Does this mean that they'd have to cut back on some of their non-essential spending? Does this mean that they're upside down on their car note? Or does it mean that they'll absolutley starve to death if they stop receiving
stolen goods welfare from the government. I'm pretty sure that it isn't the last possiility.
A few questions if you don't mind. Since you know these people, how many hours a week in total does their family work? Do they have dogs or cats? How old are their car(s). Do they ever eat out? I;m trying to establish a baseline to define EBT card qualification
Application form is here:
To the tune of Jeannie C. Riley’s “Harper Valley PTA” The day they took the Clayton County food Stamps away.
Yep let them stand in line; they’re not working anyway!
I forget which of the Caesars said 'give the masses bread and circuses and they'll be happy'...
No bread, no circuses, and the SHTF.
The Safety Net has been turned into a Hammock.
