EUREKA, Ill. -- Sarah Palin told NBC News that Rep. Michele Bachmann winning the straw poll will not affect her decision to run or not, calling her win "not much of a surprise."
"It is not much of a surprise," Palin told NBC News. "I think, at this point, it is more of a test of organization. ... The prediction was that it would either be Ron Paul or Michele Bachmann, because they spent a lot of time and energy to make sure they had delegates there who would cast those votes

whoever has the best giveaway deal would get my straw!!
If I had been there, I guess that would have been Bachman.

They bought 6000 tickets,
They each bought 6000?

I’ve always been a cynic. As I find out how things really work, I am becoming a jaded cynic.
The candidates “entertain”, buy tickets for their voters and very often bring in their own supporters.
So I guess the only real value is name recognition and the results of this straw poll are really meaningless.

I agree and I think it’s embarrassing. It’s propaganda in a way - so they can say they came out 1st, 2nd or 3rd - whatever - when it means jacksh*! Those who aren’t paying attention will, by design, get sucked into the results.

Palin still hasn’t commented on McCain’s attack on the Tea Party, but she comments on a worthless Iowa straw poll?
What’s going on with her?

my understanding is middle-age evangelicals for the most part were voting....but the straw poll is really meaningless because first of all its all about bribing people to vote with food, entertainment etc... To show how worthless straw polls are, Pat Robertson ran away with the Iowa straw poll one year.

It would appear that Governor Palin has a firm grasp of what is going on and what is important.
It would also appear, whereas President Reagan talked over the heads of the Press to get his message to the American people, that Governor Palin is not only talking over the heads of the Press, but more importantly, over the current pre-defined political process of the day to the American people.
One smart lady that Governor Palin, and soon to be President Palin.

Say what you will about Mitt Romney and how truly meaningless the IA Straw Poll is other than as a winnowing tool, but calling MB to congratulate her is a lot classier than telling some MSM reporter that MB’s win was no big surprise (which it wasn’t). Sorry, but that’s just tacky.

lol I know. Was WONDERFUL. Now if he’d just come in 4th when we get to he Caucus.

I agree that they’re meaningless, when you have Ron Paul coming in a close second, and Bachmann’s antagonist , Tim Pawlenty, spending lots of energy directly trying to discredit her as if THEY were the presumptive “front-runners” and one of them had to go.But hey what do I know-—it must have worked, look who came in third-—Pawlenty.
He came across very poorly, and looked like a bully besides.
Let’s hope Huntsman disappears immediately-—if there was ANYONE who didn’t belong on that stage, it was him. And wasn’t he the only one who made a point of cheering the Boehner plan?

Whats going on with her?
What's with you? You want to put strings on her and control what she says, what she doesn't? And Sarah did speak out on Hannity about the insults to the TeaParty.
Do you want/have strings on MB? She's a founder of the House Tea Party Caucus. Why hasn't she spoken out? Sarah's a private citizen, MB is being paid. Maybe you want to pull her string and make her apologize for her manager's trashing of a Patriot conservative - SARAH. Whats going on with MB? Where is her loyalty to conservatives? Yet she considers herself a voice of conservatives. "Do as I say but not as I do" is in play.

Why is the truth suddenly tacky?
And a conman calling to congratulate somehow classy?

over the current pre-defined political process of the day to the American people.
Well, I'm thankful. Not everyone knows the process - this one, now, I know. So, indeed, her winning is no surprise. Read post #3.

So a serial liar, complete finger-in-the-wind, fake conservative calling somebody can be taken on face value?
And how do you know Governor Palin didn't call Bachmann as well?
You can always tell when someone suffers from an acute case of PDS; they always run to the most negative possible spin on any of Palin's action because they have an agenda, one they won't be honest about, but an agenda nonetheless.

Sorry, but thats just tacky. Call me cynical (because I am), but Mitt Romney calling to Michelle Bachmann to congratulate her, is almost condescending, its also presumptuous but its clear he is acting very much like a front runner.........Its also slick, in that it gives the image that he wants, where he, the front runner, called the presumed upstart, and pretends to take the high road, kudos on strategy, but I don't like it.
As for Palin, I have no idea what the context was off this comment, and what she else she said, while many are defending her, or attacking her, to me, there is to little information for me to do either, the media has a tendency to chop her comments in a way to portray her in the worst light possible, and also is attempting to make this into some kind of "cat fight". I won't attack her or defend her comments here, but I will give her the benefit of the doubt after having seen so many of her comments taken out of context to manipulate public opinion regarding her.

So should everyone who isn't a candidate call MB to congratulate her, or just the ones you despise?...Did Perry call?
