Clyburn hopes to use supercommittee post to tackle growing wealth gap ("tithing")
The Hill ^ | August 13, 2011 | Mike Lillis

A leading House Democrat is hoping to use his prestigious seat on the deficit-cutting supercommittee to close the growing gully that divides the rich and the poor in America.

Rep. James Clyburn (S.C.) said the recent debate over slashing spending and reducing deficits has all but ignored the toll those cuts could exact on lower income folks, particularly in minority communities. Clyburn – the third-ranking House Democrat and a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) – is vowing to use his perch on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to tackle the nation's enormous wealth gap.

"In 1963, Dr. [Martin Luther] King [Jr.] expressed disbelief that the vault of opportunity in this great country was empty. Yet in 2011, the gap continues to grow wider between those who enjoy great wealth and those who struggle to get by with little thought of ever getting ahead," Clyburn said in a statement reacting to his appointment on the deficit panel.

"Too often, the human side gets lost in the Washington debates about our nation's debt and deficits," he added. "I will seek to keep those interests on the table."

There are many things which can prevent the accumulation of wealth, among them government looting of the fruits of one's labors to support those who will not labor in greater prosperity than the worker can afford for their own family, or government changing the rules and putting one's business or employer out of business.

Cut regulations, or simply quit moving the targets.

If there is a gap to be closed, consider closing the 'bustass' gap, and getting these parasites off of their butts.

That would be Communist with a !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
and while we are on the subject, these honorable
gentlemen and women, swore an oath, to support
and defend a certain document.

When we hold them accountable for the oath, as we
should, the nation will turn on a dime and resume
moving forward. At the moment accountability, and
responsibility are unknown.

The default is large automatic cuts to the military, seems intentional. I doubt they could get the cuts without attaching it to a gimmick.

Everyday there seems to be articles how China is expanding their military, sounds like they are building a navy. Either way with the Super Congress, we lose .

Clyburn, member of the Congressional Black Caucus

Why is it that a black member of Congress pretty much guarantees criminality, venality, stupidity, illiteracy, and craziness if he or she is a Democrat rather than Republican?

Look at the voters in the gerrymandered districts they are elected from. A Republican black needs some crossover votes and comes from a mixed district, almost 100% of the time.

".....unless the R's on the committee cave to this j@ck@ass."

The R's already caved in the first place when they voted to approve this supra-committee.

Since the committee will undoubtedly gridlock until such a time as a Republican member or two will cave again, it will be used as a vehicle for liberal spewings of the worst kind, and as a sounding board for commie wealth re-distribution propaganda beamed to the lumpen proletariat.

The corrupt media will do its part to spread the news, of course.

Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Fortunately, Clyburn comes across exactly what he is; a race baiting bafoon (Jackson/Sharpton-like) with an enormous racial chip on his shoulder.

Bring-it, arsehole. It will just galvanize America even more!

There are very, very few truly needy people in this country. The rest are simply wanting. Millions of able-bodied Americans have never worked a day in their life, only because their parents and grandparents didn't. Welfare, now beautifully referred to as "public assistance", pays people for doing nothing - voluntarily not working. There's no real need to support these people at all.

They have been weighed, they have been measured, and they have been found wanting.

I seem to recall a clymer back in the lewinsky days who was indeed. Could it be the same? I didn’t think so but a quick search revealed nothing. Not exactly sure if the spelling is right either for the old sphincter.

Clyburn, the son of a minister, refers to the plan as “tithing."

Then he wouldn't mind if even the "poor" 50% of the people who pay nothing now, also pay. The poor weren't exempted from the tithe in the Old Testament.

Where in the Constitution does it say the government may take from one person and give to another?

It's right under that clause that says it's alright to kill unborn children.

Clyburn is a particularly nasty piece of work. He was out there with Pelosi and her big gavel parading through a peaceful demonstration.

In the meantime one of his staffers was busy feeding Leftwingtard blogs the story they were to publish about him being spit on and called names.

We had a gazillion people out there with cameras and recorders and none of that happened.

BTW, Clyburn's staff guy sent the stories out BEFORE Clyburn stepped outside for the little parade.

It was all fake stuff and this is the guy who cooked it up. Having him on the Committee is a guaranteed fail, and maybe a lightning bolt from God too. No one is safe around this puke.

I can with certainty answer the rhetorical question, but I would be wrongly branded a racist and banned from Freerepublic for life, sooooooooo, remaining comments must be self censored for the sake of sanity and survival.

God himself only asked for 10% for the poor. Right now, if you add up taxes and mandatory government fees, the tax slaves are paying 50%. This clown wants us to pay more?
Choose thou, Clybern, who are you really serving! The entity upstairs, or the entity in the basement!

I wonder what Clyburn thinks of the $14 trillion stolen from the future, much of it going for training and assistance, having accomplished nothing but keeping people on the plantation.
