Michelle Bachmann and/or her senior staff have decided that the path to short-term success is to insult Palin and to present Bachmann as the only viable alternative to establishment Republicans.
First it was Ed Rollins publicly insulting Palin almost at the very moment Bachmann announced her run; at the time I left open the possibility that Rollins had gone rogue, but Bachmann herself never made it right and Rollins still is the brains behind her campaign.
Next was this report of what is going on in the run up to the Iowa straw poll:
I like Sarah Palin a lot, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann said at Thursday nights Republican presidential debate. We are very good friends.
But a personal relationship between the conservative female leaders has, in fact, been nonexistent for the past 16 months, as aides from Bachmanns camps have privately and sometimes publicly disparaged Palin to an extent that has caused growing exasperation in Palin world. That behind-the-scenes rancor is now boiling over as the former Alaska governor inches closer to a presidential run.
[SNIP]
It is so pervasive and so continuous that it cant be rogue people doing it without the understanding and encouragement from the candidate herself, a Palin supporter in Iowa told RCP. The entire Bachmann team has gone around the state saying Palin is a lightweight and a quitter and saying that Sarahs about to endorse Michele. Bachmanns campaign is radioactively dirty. They are shameless.

This is pure BS trying to stir the pot again when there’s nothing there.
The Rollins thing has been done ad nauseum. Nobody cares.
What did you expect Bachmann to say in the debate when asked about Palin?
I have not researched this Jacobson yet, but my instinct is that a Cornell law clinic professor does not harbor the best intentions for any conservatives or their interests.
So, I am going to let this golden apple of discord lay right there on the floor where it was cast, doubtless by “concerned” hands.
Some of us to not judge Bachmann’s candidacy based on how well she gets along with Palin. As the old saying goes, “politics aint beanbag”. I expect that elbows will be thrown along the way and pretty much ignore it while trying to focus on the issues being presented.
There are a handful of people who are obsessed with Rollins but I really think it has very little to do with concern for Palin or Bachmann.
He is an ardent Palin defender/supporter. Go look at his page.
Why don't we all crush these candidates and get behind John McCain again? /s
But millions of Palin supporters some of whom support her for President, others of whom merely support her because of what she stands for and has gone through are entitled to take Bachmanns campaign tactics into account when choosing a Plan B should Palin decide not to run. Michelle Bachmann has spit on those supporters at her political peril.
For me, Plan B means anyone but Bachmann. And it is enough to finally get me motivated for the primaries.
Another excerpt from the blog.
Pure Propaganda...
whoever wins, wins.
Please, what nonsense. Sarah needs to jump in or stop this day to day “will she , won’t she” nonsense. It’s getting annoying and distracting.
As I an SP supporter, this stuff is not woth getting worried about at least not on the Internet. Maybe real insiders do have to keep up with it Honestly, if Sarah Palin and her advisors can’t figure away around Michelle Bachmann’s staff, she probably can’t and shouldnt be the President—imagine Hugo Chavez, Harry Reid, pelosi and North Korea as next opponents.
I think Sarah has been around long enough that she will be able to finesse these petty issues and win on policy, integrity, and past experience.
Ohhh secondhand whisper campaign to start a ‘secret war’.
Seriously? Is this the narrative?
This is pure bs. Palin is getting very annoying lately. She knows if she is going to run or not, and it’s about time she said so.
“He is an ardent Palin defender/supporter. Go look at his page.”
I know he is:
1) a lawyer
2) teaching at Cornell
3) a clinic lawyer
I will take nothing such a person has to say at face value. Not one thing. That is not to say such a person cannot tell the truth without an agenda within an agenda, but any statement or assertion made by such persons should be treated as intellectuals IEDs. When the subject is any political figure, for whom the same doubts should apply, caution should be multiplied, not merely added.
The democrats and it seems some republicans are having serious wet dreams of a cat fight between Bachmann and Palin, and another ‘anonymous’ supporter is whispering behind the scenes. Seems like the anonymous supporter may have a questionable agenda of their own. Bah humbug.
[ She knows if she is going to run or not, and its about time she said so. ]
She has said so, by not running..
What you want? her to cash in her relevancy chip...
To keep the liberals waiting.. that would be a mistake..
A stupid mistake..
Her waiting keeps some of the pressure off Bachmanns “BACK”..
With the "entire team" going "all around the state" certainly they should be able to name one person who did this evil deed, or at least name one witness.
Instead, we have the anonymous "Palin supporter" who probably is not a supporter at all.
It all sounds like fiction to me.
He is giving his OPINION which corresponded with mine when Rollins trashed Sarah. If Sarah doesn’t run, I don’t know if I will support Michelle or even if she will still be in play in the Florida primaries.
That's the way I see it. It's the old, "Let's you and him fight" ploy. Only now it's "her". :)
Patience Grasshopper. :)
Typical whispering campaigns. “Didja hear what so-and-so said? You didn’t hear this from meeeee, but psss-psss-psss-psss-psss.” “Oh, no she d’i’nt!” “Oh, yes she did!”
So?
You forgot to mention Jew, in your list.
I’ve read him from the beginning of his blogging days. He is the real deal, as far as I’m concerned, and I’m as skeptical of lawyers as they come. Mr. Jacobson is to the right of Glenn Reynolds (the Instapundit). He is a big fan of SP, as odd as that seems for his demographic.
The Globe?
The Star?
Crap?
I guess she should have just sung Kumbaya. /s
More indecisive Mrs. Palin whine. For a non candidate who has had almost 3 years to change the minds of people, she has spent very little actually doing it. Just talk.
It is always the pity party. Yuck!
She maybe could just grow up and compete with others.
That would be the way to show what you have.
Myself, I’m with the “ Anyone but Obama” crowd
Republicans cannot possibly win by destroying each other. Do not fall for it. The person every Republican has to defeat is Obama, the worst president in history. Keep the objective in mind at all times.
Yep, let’s let the pointy head set nominate Mittens for us. That’ll work.
As someone who has been involved in GOP Party politics for over 30 years, I have some advice for all the Candidates supporters.
As Pawlenty learned this week, Republican voters are not interested in the least in fighting with their allies. We all know who the real enemies are and don't take kindly to those who do the Dems PR work for them.
Trash talking the other candidate then going to their supporters later asking them to support your candidate is a sure fail strategy. The way to win the Republicans and Conservatives voters is to tell them why YOUR candidate should be chosen.
Trash talking the other guy only hurts your chosen candidate, you do not build anything by tearing down everyone else.

Well, tens of thousands of the rest of us have been reading him for well over a year now. He's become one of the most popular conservative bloggers around. Research all you want -- but just reading his blog archives will tell you what you want to know.
Sounds like a bunch of BS to me.
Bachmann is running. Where is Palin?
Let me know when Palin finally makes up her mind.
“She looked like she had been slapped across the face with a wet rag.”
She always looks like that to me.
JMHO, but I couldn’t resist .
IDIOT! McCain is a hot-headed (fill in the blank); we need the steady hand and cool head of BOB DOLE! ;-')
Other than the Rollin’s quote, the rest is just speculation and anonymous, unnamed comments from supporters of the two women. Bachmann and Palin both said nice things about each other in Iowa. This was all initiated (this story takes the information from another story) by a CNN report that was seeking to tear down an announced republican frontrunner by playing off an unannounced candidate. If Palin announces, you can be sure CNN will go after her the same way.
“She always looks like that [’like she had been slapped across the face with a wet rag’] to me.”
Up until now maybe.
But she just took Tim “Wet Rag” Pawlenty to cleaners.
And, upon opening the Iowa dryer this morning, the party discovered that he has now gone the way of so many unmatched socks. Probably still around somewhere, but not serving any useful function. Then again, after the wear and tear he took in the debates, he just might be lint.
The real question is whether he will popup in support of some other candidate. I can think of a few that like his attacks on Bachmann, but might be timid about associating with such a loser as Tiny Tim.
If he supported Palin, would he be her Rollins?
“You forgot to mention Jew, in your list.”
No, I did not mention Jew because it is not relevant. There are Jews and there are Jews, and then there are yet more Jews. Intellectually and philosophically they are all over the chart - eg Barney Frank, Joseph Lieberman, George Soros, Milton Friedman, Ayn Rand, Woody Allen, Isaac Bashevis Singer and Bebe Netanyahu to name several very divergent compass points. American lawyers and academicians on the other hand are much more uniform in their mindsets, methodologies and objectives and I do regard them with suspicion. That is not to say that they are all clones, but the exceptions prove the rule.
Jacobson is a hard core conservative, he’s well respected for his bonafides. His blog is a treasure.
I’d recommend you read this and ping the list if you think it’s worthy. I think it’s a great read.
Maybe once in a lifetime will a person experience what we are! When has there ever been such a spontaneous and enthusiastic response by the everyday hard-working people of America to one person. She is not an elitist. She is not arrogant, proud, condescending, typical politician which are a dime a dozen. She is one of us! We are in the midst of a historical event. A political revival! The hard-working everyday people are waking up. Were watching our beloved nation crumble at our feet because of self-centered, self seeking, self loving politicians. Turn your plows into swords, (spiritually speaking) grab your helmet and your shield. Let us rise up and go forth. I hear the sound of a mighty army marching as to war. Sarah Palin will not have to do the typical down and dirty political ploys! This is Destiny! We are at a cross road! America must decide! Choose you today the good or the evil? Righteousness or wickedness? Freedom as our forefathers experienced it, or slavery as socialism and communism would have it. Self-governance or government control? What will it be? Let us rise up in the name of freedom and go forth! Sarah Palin is not the answer, she is simply the instrument that God is using to give us a choice. Choose Well, it may be our last choice!
If I decide to rely on derivative opinions I may look at him more closely.
The Rollins episode caused me to suspend what had been multiple donations to Bachmann, and ended the possibility of any support in the primary. It caused me to regard both her personal integrity and political acumen as less than I had originally thought, as one does not besmirch friends via agents or alienate a significant portion of one’s own political base. To extrapolate from that to a position of “anyone but Bachmann”, even within the context of the announced primary candidates we have - is inane.
I don’t care what this guy’s bona fides are or how large his audience is. His conclusion in this article is jackass stupid.
