Rick Perry Announces -- And the Boogeyman is Back
Commentary Magazine ^ | August 13, 2011 | John Podhoretz

Posted on 08/14/2011 3:50:13 PM PDT by DRey

“I will work every day to make Washington, DC as inconsquential in your life as I can,” says Rick Perry as he announces for president. Well, there it is. The 2012 race in a nutshell—”America is not broken. Washington D.C. is broken,” as Perry said, in contrast to Barack Obama’s continuing insistence that government must somehow lead the way out of the economic doldrums with infrastructure banks and payroll tax cuts and extending unemployment insurance. If the dividing line between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats want, in some sense, to direct America from Washington, Republicans believe the United States should not be directed, and should instead be managed as close to the citizenry as possible.

Most people outside Texas know very little about Perry, but given his standing as a kind of amalgam of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, he may soon occupy an unprecedented position in the imagination of liberals and the Left—perhaps the most frightening specter of anti-liberalism since Ronald Reagan precisely because he is electable. The conservative boogeyman is back."

I’ll let my 10,000 posts on this site speak for themselves.

Well, statistically.. they make you seem to be a fag. Maybe
you should post less about Ricky Martin and Justin Bieber.

Just a thought.

So far, Perraddicts on FR can only attack the opponents to promote their boy. Pathetic!

Conservative Rick Perry is not. Shall we recount the TTC fiasco? Also, under the guise of closing a loophole in the Texas tax law to get MD’s to pay franchise taxes, everyone else’s, including mine trippled. How about the yearly escalating state fees tacked on to professional licenses? You wanna ask me about my property taxes?
If Rick Perry is the nominee I’ll vote for him for the same reason I voted for him 3 times in the Governor’s race: I will not vote for a dumbocrap, but don’t tell me he is a conservative.

I really enjoyed the Republican debate last week - nearly everyone there impressed me in some way or another (except the Loon). I wish Perry had been in the debate as well - I think I would have learned a lot more about him.

One thing I took away from the debate was how intelligent those folks were. I enjoyed how each candidate seemed to try to shift the debate away from 'gotchas' and back towards issues. Certainly there were exceptions, and I am sure I can find things about each candidate I disagree with or don't like, but overall, again except for the Loon, I would absolutely be happier with pretty much any of them in place of the fool currently in the White House.

I look forward to hearing more from Perry - I like what I have heard so far.

If your property taxes went up, it wasn’t Perry’s doing but your school board. It is amazing to me how simple-minded some people are. You live in a black and white world. Perry gets results. Conservative results. And Texas has a balanced budget and NO income tax...still.

Speaking of boogeyman, check out what was just posted on Twitter. Not sure if it's true or not, but if it is it may get a little interesting

To Admin: Please ban this guy. I have never posted about Martin and Bieber (certainly that I can remember), and I have certainly NEVER posted anything that would make me seem like a “fag”. (feel free to look up my history)

If humblegunner needs to use lies attacking other FReepers to support his candidate, he should not be permitted on this site.

Thanks, Bobl

“But you’re OK with FUBO? He’s creating real damage and destruction. BTW, your 10,000 posts are meaningless, doesn’t mean you opinions are god-like. Just shows you have a lot of time on your hands.”

Of course not. Other than sending drones into Pakistan, I challenge you to name something that I supported Obama on.

As to my other posts, of course my opinions are not God-like, but people do develop profiles here, and if I’m going to be treated like I came out of the blue to oppose Perry, I sure as heck will bring up my history (and you’re more than welcome too).

People are free to support or oppose anything they like, providing they keep within the rules at FR, which basically means don’t support a liberal or liberal causes. I challenge anyone to state where I’ve crossed that line.

“Bob, you and the other four guys that think Rick is not conservative are really quite boorish.”

In your dreams. I think the threads on this site are starting to turn against him, as they should. Hopefully Rush does some research and comes around too.

Bwaa-haa-haa-haa-haaaaaaa!!

I hate to inform you, but Perry is just getting started, and the excitement is only building. As for your tiresome spamming of all the Perry threads hoping to somehow SWAY THE PRIMARIES, those are liberal tactics, and I'm afraid your cause is ridiculous and lost.

You’re among the toughest guys I know.
Asking others to fight for you is awesomely bad-ass.

Please don’t hit me with your purse.

No. You can just call us conservative Republicans, and him, the future Mr. President.
