« World News Killer bull claims 3rd life in Spain Published: Aug. 14, 2011 at 9:56 PM XATIVA, Spain, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A man was killed by a bull during a festival in Xativa, Spain, becoming the beast's third victim, officials say.
The bull, named Mouse, fatally attacked the man, who died at a hospital later, during an amateur bullfighting event Saturday night, the BBC reported.
The bull, which weighs 1,100 pounds, lifted the man with his horns, tossed him and then attacked him further. The man was pulled out of the ring.
The man, 30, appeared to be drunk and had been removed from the ring several times previously during the night.
This was the third death the bull has caused in the past 10 years, the British network said. His killer reputation earns his owner more than $14,000 per appearance.
Police officials have started an investigation into the latest death, however, festivities in Xativa, including bullfights, will continue, the BBC said.

I thought, as a rule, that the bulls were killed and did not fight multiple fights for exactly that reason. They aren’t stupid and they get smarter with each fight. If you go into a ring with a bull that is already smart enough to have killed two other guys you are asking for a horn where the sun don’t shine.

Bullfighting bulls are smaller than normal domestic bulls; I think you’d have a lot more fatalities if full-size bulls were used. That’s how some of them get over the inner wall into the first rows of seats; it would be impossible for full-size bulls to get the air necessary to do that.
I don’t mind bull fighting as long as the bull has a near equal chance.
I’m with you. I always root for the bull.
I would be very interested to see someone fight a bull the way Mas Oyama used to.

Back when I was in the Navy, there was a crusty old CPO who went out grizzly bear hunting every chance he could. He took one weapon, a .44 caliber revolver.
Now, I don’t know much about hunting, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that he had to be damn good because if he had just wounded the bear...
Bullfighting? Sheesh, they always make sure the bull is good and tired and stick those darts into his neck before the “matador” even gets in the ring.
Try doing it without those darts and take away that stupid cape and maybe I would call it a fair fight.
