WBC intends to protest Wed., 8/17/2011 @ 9:30 a.m. - Memorial Service to begin at 10:00 a.m. (Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS) for Navy SEAL Matthew D. Mason. Buriel will be private at Arlington National Cemetery following services in Missouri and Kansas.
Mason, 37, was one of 30 Americans killed Aug. 6 when a helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan by Taliban insurgents. The chief petty officer had seven tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was severely wounded in 2004 in Fallujah, which was the largest battle of the Iraq War.
Mason, whose wife, Jessica, is from Omaha, was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor device, Purple Heart and numerous other commendations. His survivors include two children.
Have not read all the comments, somebody has probably already something like, I think they may have picked the wrong persons to offend.

Westboro is like PETA. If no one paid attention, the stunts would end.
It's more complicated than these. These guys aren't pushing an agenda. They don't want converts, and they don't have demands. They're looking for a cash settlement via legal action. Nothing more, nothing less. It's the courts these guys are chasing, not the cameras.
So why not do the same to them? Start filing civil suit after civil suit about the “distress” they have caused the grieving families and how someone can’t work, or be a husband or wife, etc, as a result.
Sure the lawsuits may lose, but if you can drain their money from them and keep them in constant court, maybe they wouldn’t have time to pursue this extortion scheme.
Just a thought.

. Do these people live in a 'protected enclave'? Are they normal by other measures...do their kids go to public schools...Do they otherwise access Government benefits. All to ask if they are - in addition to their being disgusting human beings - just total hypocrites as well.

Amazing how while they were out protesting they left the iron on and their house burned down.

I have been thinking that when they have a church member’s funeral there should be a massive out-pouring to show our reaction to their behavior.
I wish I could be there - the church is not far from where I live. I hate these people.
The SEALS have enough discipline not to do anything. I hope. The PGR, of which I am an proud member, on the other hand, cares much less about discipline, and are more likely to express their true feeling.
Rest in Peace SEALS, and all other members of the military who have given their most to our great Nation. Thank you.
