PERRY: WHY I SUPPORTED AL GORE...
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/61428.html ^ | 08/15/2011 | Bob King

In an interview with an Iowa radio station on Monday, the Republican presidential contender explained his role as the Gore campaign’s Texas chairman by saying that “this was Al Gore before he invented the Internet and got to be Mr. Global Warming.”

But in fact, global warming was already a significant theme for Gore in 1987 and 1988 — long before his activism led to several books, a Nobel Prize and a part in an Academy Award-winning film. It was also well before the right gave him the "Mr. Ozone" nickname and talk radio heaped endless mockery on the future vice president.

I admit I’m confused. There was a time known as “before Gore was a scumbag”? As far as I can tell Armand’s little protege has always been a weasel - which makes me leery of Perry’s support for him.

I don’t trust Perry either , all that big establishment money lining up behind him should tell us all we need to know.

So far his candidacy sounds like the Rick Perry apology tour.

This is a load of crap. Perry doesn’t answer the question. Why indeed did he think that Gore was so great in ‘88 that he chaired Texas for him? They didn’t ask what Gore was not, but rather what he DID represent back then that interested Perry. I can’t shake the feeling that Perry is a fraud. I hope that I’m wrong. Bob

The more I read about him, the more I know I was right in saying I will not support him.

There was no “Good Gore” who morphed into “Bad Gore”.

Gore has always been Gore.

Algore was a fairly conventional southern Democrat once upon a time, fairly conservative. He was against abortion, for instance.

I actually liked SENATOR Gore. He was fairly conservative on a lot of issues, most notably free trade and right to life. Granted, I would have voted for a GOP candidate over him, but he was an actual moderate Dem.

Once he became VP though, all bets were off and he is now as far left as possible now.

I do have some concerns about some of Perry's other issues, but this one is a non-starter as far as I personally am concerned.

Tell us about this please. Was Gore an underling of Armand HAMMER? That Perry would support such a guy (if I am reading you right) is reprehensible. Bob

I used to think that Gore was a fairly moderate/conservative Democrat. From the south and all, at least he talked a decent game. I totally agree that Gore transformed into this caricature over the last 10 years or so... As for Perry, dunno still, I am skeptical, but still evaluating.
