I'm not saying I think he should, I'm just saying he would be a rational choice.
Will I never learn?
Chuck Todd and P-MSNBC doing their part on behalf of the DNC to take down any Republican that may stand in the way of absolute liberal domination. After all, Liberals have been divinely appointed to have dominion over all living creatures and the planet! How dare anyone challenge them.
Therefore, it is the duty of the corrupt MSM to labor to diminish and tear down any Republican.
You know what, Chuck, Mark, Domenico and Brooke? If you want to be treated nicely in Texas, you don’t print more money and you don’t show up at a barbecue with salsa made in New York City.
Palin also would not be on anyone’s list. I’m sure he’ll let her campaign for him, though. Maybe she can be Sec. of Energy. That’s a suitable job for her, it seems. Not sure if she can keep her mouth shut enough to be a mere cabinet secretary though. She might just decide to keep doing what she’s doing. Then again, once she is clearly not a presidential candidate, the media might FINALLY lose interest in her. In that scenario, she might want to get back in the action.
Obama's doing just that.
Another way is what we've been doing all along. Increase our majority in the House and win the Senate. Bush had spent 8 years trying to do what a few fear Perry will do but could not get anything passed and the President we have today's trying to do the same thing.
Only difference is, the President we have NOW shoved Obamacare down the throats of the American people. And that's not all he's done. The question should NOT be whether Obama, Perry or Palin will seek to pass Immigration Reform. The REAL question is who do you trust more with the constitutional process required to actually pass "Immigration Reform"? Obama, who has a history of ignoring the Constitution?
Well, I know who I do NOT trust.
He's obviously going to be pressed to "apologize". If he's smart he will used this tempest to explain why printing money is a bad idea. Ignore the calls for an apology. Keep the issue in the forefront of the minds of The Libturd Media and The American People.
Don't apologize, Rick! Explain why it's a bad idea.
It's only "Macaca" if you act like it's "Macaca."
I dont think theres any way Bachmann is a VP pick. I give that zero chance.
I agree. I’m betting on Paul Ryan.
The budget, the deficit and entitlement reform are going to the policy issues receiving the major focus during the next administration. Perry will need a Paul Ryan to manage that effort.
Rubio would also be a good choice but he has serious Natural Born Citizen issues - his parents did not become American citizens until after his birth.
I think he sees himself as a senator from Minn...just my guess.
Perry’s remark was an understatement. Continued spending is leading us rapidly to national insolvency. Without money or credit, we’re pretty much screwed. MSNBC is the media equivalent of pollution.
Perry should not be careful.
Perry should trust his instincts, and go for it all.
America is STARVING for straight talk. Perry seems to have that. Let him attack.
Nobody respects, or votes for, milquetoast. It’s how we got in this mess.
Right on Perry!
I don’t think the VP pick is going to be a congressman. I also don’t think a freshman senator makes a good choice, especially given the resume and performance of our current president.
that is what we need! I’m sick of these repubs that want to play nice nice.... it’s like the have no clue or don’t care what they are dealing with....
W O W!!
I would think Perry would look for another governor, or someone with executive branch experience at the national level. Someone who is disciplined and not liable to run off at the mouth. Someone who can deal naturally with being second banana. I think that rules out Christie or Rudy. But Pawlenty seems perfectly suited. He's not exactly alpha male, even if he was governor.
History and rational prediction indicate the consequence will be orders of magnitude more dead and more financial damage than the cumulative destruction by Al Quaida et al.
However, the idea of her as Sec of Energy is brilliant. What better place to put her talents and background than having here shepard through legislation to get energy pumping thoughout the country. Oil from Alaska and the Gulf; natural gas from the northeast; coal from the Virginia's - we have so much energy here if we can just tap into it! Think about the jobs. Think about the lower cost of energy. Think about the lessening dependence on energy needs from our enemies. The answer is so easy and right in front of us, we need someone like her that can take the heat and get things done!
In Pa., they are creating thousands of jobs getting gas out of the ground. Of course, in NY, where we have sizable energy deposits as well, nothing is happening because left wing environmentalists outnumber common sense people 2 to 1.
Let's get Perry elected with Bachmann or Rubio at his side and Palin running Energy.
Yes, Perry exceeded what proles are supposed to do. We’re supposed to take abuse with a smile on our faces.
What was that phrase they so loved in the last election?
Ah yes, I remember it well—”speaking truth to power”.
That’s all he did. FINALLY we have someone willing to do it for America.
Dissent is patriotic, y’all.
I don’t think a congressman or a freshman senator is a wise pick for VP. Obama should be attacked for his incompetence as much as for his ideology. The argument should be that it was a mistake to elect a president with such little (none) executive experience. Having a similarly underqualified person running as understudy negates that whole line of attack.
To each his or her own.
I admire Perry so far. A strong, engaged and strong willed GOP field is a very good thing.
I am very enthused Perry is starting out this way.
I’ll be supporting Palin if she runs, and will support Perry as her running mate.
I dont think the VP pick is going to be a congressman. I also dont think a freshman senator makes a good choice, especially given the resume and performance of our current president.
You have a point but VP picks tend to be political and I believe that 4 years as VP is enough OJT to turn either a 13 year Congressman or a freshman Senator into presidential material.
The Left calls the Right terrorists at the same time telling them to soften their rhetoric. Any violent act is pinned on the Right by the MSM. As Perry says, “....it’s time to stop trying to curry favor with the Left!”
I don’t think it makes sense at all, and I don’t think it’s going to happen. We shall see. I HOPE it doesn’t happen, as it negates an entirely sound and workable line of attack, and would show a lack of judgment on the part of our presidential nominee. Find someone who already has relevant executive experience, someone who is already prepared to take the helm should the need arise. People are skittish. They want competence. It’s bad enough some of our voters think a MN Congressman should be president. Congressman from MN? Freshman senator? No thanks.
Karl Rove on Fox right now whining and bashing Perry.....why am I not surprised.
I would really not like to see Conservative candidates BECOME the petty and ugly voice in American politics that Liberals have become. It is not necessary
I know, it’s just the blatant hypocracy that gets to me sometimes. I hope that this “do as I say, not as I do” code of ethics they practice comes back to bite them.
GOOD, I am slightly more impressed with Perry.
>> Rubio is not a good pick in my opinion <<
Don’t worry. He’s not eligible, because Vattel says he isn’t a natural-born citizen.
If someone finds this to be "eyebrow-raising rhetoric," at the time they must have been lying on the floor sweeping up cobwebs with their eyebrows.
[ Of course Bushs boys are defending their arsonist at the Fed.
This shows Perry is not a Bushie, and he may well be a real conservative, unlike the fake Bush. ]
Perry could very well still be a “Bushie” and is just doing this to create “distance” from the old Bush Legacy. Perry is pretty slick.
Too far?! He didn’t go far enough!!
Have we forgotten about how far Obama has gone in criticizing the “failed policies of the past 8 years”?
The administration, from the top on down, is loaded with socialists and or commies who are intent on destroying the economy of this country. The word treason is not that outlandish.
Here's an FR thread explaining the Texas dream law.
(Along with deficits and amnesty, devaluing the dollar was on of my list of pet peeves under W.)
What I would like to know is, what would he do to repeal Obamacare in case the SCOTUS doesn’t rule it unconstitutional. Would he Michele Bachman has made it pretty clear that it would be top of her agenda.
Former Bush Official: Rick Perry Is The Ice Cold Glass Of Water The GOP Needed
Rick Perry’s wife: “As an experienced political wife, Anita Perry has been stepping into the fray with her husband since he ran for the Texas House in 1984.
Holding a master’s degree in nursing, she worked as a nurse for 17 years.
Perry said his wife is worried how the new health care law will affect health care.”
Anita Perry’s father was a family doctor.
Perry has called for the repeal of Obamacare — that it is unconstitutional.
9:20 into that interview comment about “cold glass of water” AND she defends Perry telling the media to ASK Obama (not him) if he loves America.
I’d be surprised to see her on any ticket at all.
