‘Substantial evidence’ facilities violated gay couple’s civil rights

The state Department of Human Rights has found “substantial evidence” that the civil rights of a gay couple were violated by two facilities that refused to host their civil union ceremony.

After the rejections, Todd and Mark Wathen filed complaints with the state, got their civil union license on June 1 and on June 4 had a ceremony and reception in their backyard.

(snip

n an e-mail reply from the Beall Mansion, Wathen was told, “At this point we will just be doing traditional weddings.” Beall’s definition of traditional weddings: “Weddings as opposed to civil unions.”

TimberCreek, was more emphatic in its denial. An e-mail reply from Jim Walder stated: “We will never host same-sex civil unions. We will never host same-sex weddings even if they become legal in Illinois. We believe homosexuality is wrong and unnatural based on what the Bible says about it. If that is discrimination, I guess we unfortunately discriminate.”

The Gaystapo is at it again, attacking normal people for being normal. This enrages me beyond words.

And kudos to TimberCreek B&B for their staunch stance against the sodomites. We need more people and businesses like this in society.

It’s sad that the queers are going to eventually put these places out of business.

So much for private property rights and freedom of association. I don’t know why we bother with the Constitution any more. Nobody pays any attention to it.

What property rights? Everything belongs to the State in The People’s Republic of Illinois.

Now it starts. In our supposedly pluralistic society, decent people are to be compelled to bow to the deviants and the perverts. How long will the majority permit itself to be bullied by a tiny homosexual minority and its Democratic Party allies? If politics is about anything, it us about maintaining a public culture. The Republicans need to make an issue of this. The idea that the majority accepts homosexual behavior as normal, an idea pushed by the media and the degenerates who write sitcoms and Hollywood film garbage, is a Big Lie.

One way or the other they would be out of business. Shit on the sheets can’t be good for business.

There are several sides in this battle: good, misguided, and evil. The thugs filing this lawsuit have stepped across the line from merely misguided to extreme evil. Legally, the right to the free exercise of religion is protected by the First Amendment. Morally, that right is God-given, which places it on a higher plane than whatever commands might be issued by a judge with delusions of grandeur. Personally, my property is mine, and I would rather burn everything I own to the ground than pay these parasites in the event that they win in court. I would not under any circumstances allow my assets to be transferred to anyone launching a frivolous or immoral lawsuit. I’m almost invariably polite, but I would make an exception for these people, perhaps with a comment on how I hoped AIDS would bring them what they deserve - soon. It’s not true; I hope they find God and repent of their sinful actions, but spite would likely get the best of me if I were in the position of the facility owners.

Incorrect, the sad part is that we're permitting governments vast and broad new powers lest we be labeled as being unaccepting, racist, or a bigot.

I have no problem with a business discriminating based upon religion, sexual orientation, appearance or just about whatever they desire. If the consumer doesn't like it, they can go somewhere else. And if the business decides that hurts business, then they too can choose different avenues as well.

None of it is the state's business.

You’re stating the ideal, which everyone here agrees with. But we are talking here about a Marxist state like Illinois. Nothing ideal about their thinking.

I’m not a violent person, far from it, but these people just need a good beating. When all order goes to pot in this country, I believe these sodomites are going to get the “bullying” of their lives.

The place, TimberCreek B&B in Paxto, is a bed and breakfast with 6 guest accommodations, probably the innkeepers home.
These Twinkies probably knew the position of the innkeeper and chose to harass the owner of that tiny place.

And you just set yourself up to be sued.

You may as well just write that big check and don’t even bother with lawyers who will end up taking the rest of your cash and property.

You have to know they did.

So the State Dept. Is going after two private businesses because they don’t perform civil union ceremonies? Sound about right?

Whatever happened to “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone”.

If todd and mark are so miffed about this, maybe they should start their own civil union chapel, and quit trying to force their perverse lifestyle on everybody else.

I’m not angry at the gay birds. They can call themselves husband and wife, pitcher and catcher, dude and scrude, or the Queen of England and My Pretty Pony for all I care. Do it private and quit f***ing up our kids and making the rest of us lose our lunch.

The people I’m truly p***ed off at is the freak special interests, the litigators, and the drop-the-soap-and-write-”do me”-on-the-shower-floor leaders we elect that are deranging our culture step by step into a cesspool cyclone from which there may be no return.
