‘Substantial evidence’ facilities violated gay couple’s civil rights

The state Department of Human Rights has found “substantial evidence” that the civil rights of a gay couple were violated by two facilities that refused to host their civil union ceremony.

After the rejections, Todd and Mark Wathen filed complaints with the state, got their civil union license on June 1 and on June 4 had a ceremony and reception in their backyard.

n an e-mail reply from the Beall Mansion, Wathen was told, “At this point we will just be doing traditional weddings.” Beall’s definition of traditional weddings: “Weddings as opposed to civil unions.”

TimberCreek, was more emphatic in its denial. An e-mail reply from Jim Walder stated: “We will never host same-sex civil unions. We will never host same-sex weddings even if they become legal in Illinois. We believe homosexuality is wrong and unnatural based on what the Bible says about it. If that is discrimination, I guess we unfortunately discriminate.”

The bottom line is that if there is a trial before a jury, the accommodations will win, but if it is just in front of a judge, the homosexuals will win.

This is because these homosexual marriage laws are exclusively the work of the government *against* the will of the people. That is why such laws have *always* been created in such a way that the people are not *permitted* to refuse. Because if given the opportunity, the people *will* invariably refuse homosexual marriage.

Therefore, a defense before the jury is simple. “This law demonstrates the arrogance of the state against the conscience of the individual. The state cannot decree that the people must worship Moloch instead of God. Nor can the state decree that people act against their conscience, be it to pick up arms and murder another person, commit or suborn acts of perversion.”

Actually, I’m not talking about an ideal, I’m talking about a goal. Conservative activism means taking back the power from the government and investing it where it belongs, that of with the people. For far far too long, government’s power has expanded, while the people’s has greatly diminished, and until we reverse this decline, we’ll constantly be disappointed in our candidates.

We send them to government office to reduce government, not expand it. And if need be, we’ll keep hunting until we find politicians who’ll do it.

Media outlets have to comply with the same anti-discrimination regs. This helps to explain media bias on the issue — editorial policy quickly aligns with government-mandated personnel policy.
