UPDATE 3-White House denounces Perry as Republicans target Fed

* Perry threatens Fed chairman, Bachmann also criticizes

* Remarks reflect intense political pressure on Fed

* White House says threatening Bernanke "not a good idea" (Adds fresh quotes from Bachmann, Obama, economist)

WASHINGTON, Aug 16 (Reuters) - The White House denounced Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on Tuesday for his threatening remarks toward the head of the U.S. Federal Reserve that represented some of the most inflammatory rhetoric of the 2012 election campaign.

Campaigning in Iowa on Monday, the Texas governor said he would consider it "treasonous" if Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke "prints more money between now and the election" in November 2012 -- a fresh sign of the political heat the central bank faces as it tries to right the stumbling U.S. economy.

"If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all will do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas," Perry said to laughter from supporters in Iowa.

"Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, treasonous in my opinion," he said.

The White House responded by saying it is important for the Fed to remain independent, and jabbed back at Perry, who on Saturday entered the race for the Republican nomination to face Democratic President Barack Obama. Perry is already considered one of the strongest candidates for the Republican nomination.

Palin.

I trust the lady but I have my doubts if she's electable.

He must be doing something right if they’re already “denouncing” him. I think we’re going to need more popcorn. :)

Even though I have SERIOUS reservations and take great exception to Perry's immigration stance...his visit to, speech and pandering to La Raza in 2010 is inexcusable and his own actions and statements about how we handle illegals already in this country will contribute to the continuing decline of our culture and nation...I still love what he is doing in this regard by calling the fed out and getting under the dems skin.

His positions on abortion, the 2nd amendment, national defense (as in our armed forces), and most of the economic issues also appear to be very strong.

But the immigration issue and his so obvious stand on it, mean I will support another in the primaries. IMHO, you have to get all of those right.

Having said that, should he be the nominee against Obama, I will vote for him to remove the Marxist.

So tell me just WHAT do YOU know about Harding? Look up the “Great Depression of 1920”.

He's not playing by "the rules" and that scares the he!! out of 0bama!

0bama wants to only have to worry about another like thinker such as Romney.

I'm warming up to Perry more each day.

They have dumbed down the populus they dont understand that rising gold prices means the $ is worth less. In reality, you have to work more to have the same purchasing power. But in this Alice in Wonderland/Orwhellian New Speak where they claim Food Stamps and Unemplyment are ‘job creators’, why would the sheeple understand their wages are staggnant and dont buy squat.

I have often wondered in the media would cover the specticale of a saver torching themselves in front of the Federal Reserve because their savings have been destroyed by ZIRP. Would that make the MSM understand the longterm damage Benny and the Pretenders are doing to this country.

Treasonous may have been too gentle. Destroyer is more appropriate. Destroyer of Savings. Destroyer or hard earned capital. Destroyer of initiative. Sorry for the rant I will take a little pill now. LOL

I’m not worried about electability. All that counts with me is that I can trust them, that they mean what they say and won’t be diverted. Solid values. Grounded. Authentic.

Palin is clearly that, and if she’s not electable, then this nation is beyond recovery.

Not saying I wouldn’t vote for Perry in the general. But I wouldn’t feel good about the prognosis for America. Perry doesn’t strike me as the sort who can put America’s liberalism in remission.

Agreed. 10 yrs of Stimulus and crony capitalism have not done anything for this country. As Einstein said, Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different outcome is insane. Welfare is just as bad for a Corporation as it is for the individual. Let me make it on my own and keep what a create.

just in case Benny Bernancke or “Bammy re really interested in an economic recovery...here’s the recipe..

Warren Harding figured it out in 1920...

Congress and the Executive Branch have lots to do.

So far they’re not doin’ it right..

Its been done before..

Harding cut the government’s budget nearly in half between 1920 and 1922. The rest of Harding’s approach was equally laissez-faire. Tax rates were slashed for all income groups. The national debt was reduced by one-third. The Federal Reserve’s activity, moreover, was hardly noticeable. As one economic historian puts it, “Despite the severity of the contraction, the Fed did not move to use its powers to turn the money supply around and fight the contraction.” 2 By the late summer of 1921, signs of recovery were already visible. The following year, unemployment was back down to 6.7 percent and was only 2.4 percent by 1923.

http://www.firstprinciplesjournal.com/articles.aspx?article=1319&loc=r

BTW..ole Warren ALSO fixed immigration...

Mr. Harding signed into law the Emergency Quota Act[3] which sought to control immigration following World War I and preserve the distinctive American culture by ensuring the majority of immigrants came from the historically compatible cultures of Northern Europe. This law aimed to bring wages of hard working Americans under control by limiting immigration to 3% of the 1910 census. It was followed on by a similar act in 1924, after Mr. Harding’s death.[4]

A Warren Harding prescription...if filled ...would ignite the afterburners on the US job machine and the economy. However DC would have to yield on a tremendous amount of power. Our job as We the People...is to persuade them of the “utility” ..shall we say..of doing so. In all probability the same minds that made the mess...aren’t capable of the solution however.

BTW any takers that ‘Bammy couldn’t even tell you that Warren Harding was one of his predecessors in office?

Even more telling about what our betters in the RinoCracy think of a Constitutional President..

Just goes to show you that most of the anti-Perry Haters at FR are very few in numbers. There’s more of his supporters than his non supporters...it’s nice to finally see a man who doesn’t backpedal to the thugs in DC.

VP Biden calls the American people "terrorists" and "hostage takers" but candidate Perry says printing more money to play politics with is almost treasonous and it's DefCon 1 from the WH!

(Yawn.)
